Chapter Text
in which they take a nap in the common room
the fireplace crackled and radiated warm, comforting heat. so did remus. he was like a furnace and his proximity to aisley didn’t help. two books lay carefully placed on the floor.
“mmm go back to sleep aise,” remus mumbled. his head was buried in the crack between the sofa arm and cushion, her dark hair slightly covering his face. his arm was placed comfortingly on aisley’s lower left ribs, engulfing her a hug.
translucent red curtains covered a paned window, which through the stars painted the blank canvas of the night sky. she pulled the thin, knit blanket down so that it no longer covered her lower face, “shouldn’t we head to your dorm at least?”
the brunette boy shifted away from the edge of the coach and therefore closer to aisley, “it’s whatever, we’ll deal with everything tomorrow. besides, I really really like this.” the empty common room seemed to be the only place in the world to the teens.
“this?”
“being with my everything.” remus smiled softly as he finally opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling, a bit nervous.
the girl admired remus’s face and all she could think about was the soft look that seemed to always inhabit his eyes. “as if I of all people deserves that title.”
“but you do.”
they both turned to look at each other and their proximity grew even closer. remus planted a soft kiss on her forehead and aisley closed her eyes, wishing this could last forever. she took in every detail, the sounds of the fireplace and the dim light. but most of all she took in the sight that was remus. his slightly long hair, the warmth he provided, the soft wool of his sweater. and then aisley etched it into her memory. so deeply it felt like she would remember this exact moment forever.
remus was thinking almost the same. so this is love? everything about her was perfect.
but the thing he loved most was her smile.
that bright genuine smile was the most amazing thing about her. it seemed almost impossible for the light from her smile to fade and when it did the entire world felt it. they were like best friends but closer.
it was something remus had never felt before to this extent. but he loved it, and loved her.
and so he said it, “je t'aime de tout mon coeur et e ne peux pas vivre sans toi.”
I love you with all my heart and I can’t live without you.
“you say that to all the girls remy?”
“no. only ever you.” and then remus fell asleep again, leaving aisley wondering. had he learned french for her? but she couldn’t question the love. it was practically shining off of him.
the girl scootched up closer to remus’s face and planted a light kiss right beside his mouth. in response, the corners of his mouth twitched upwards slightly causing to aisley to quietly laugh into remus’s chest.
“in libras libertos” aisley whispered before shutting her eyes, “and yeah that’s latin. your favourite, lupin.
in books, freedom
