Chapter Text
You wake up in an unfamiliar location. You are lying on what feels like cement, as you stare at the night sky.
"Where... am I?" you ask yourself.
As you look around, trying to get an idea of where you are, you also try to think back as to what you were doing before you got here, before realizing something shocking.
You are unable to remember anything.
Hell, you can't even remember your name, or anything!
How did you get here?
"Oh, you're awake now?" you hear a female voice ask you, as you sit up.
This girl has purplish hair, tied into a green ribbon. She wears a school uniform.
What surprises you isn't the girl herself, but the fact that she has a sniper rifle, looking through the scope.
"Who are-" you begin to say, before being cut off by her.
"Welcome... to the I-Ain't-Dead-Yet Battlefront!" she says to you, as clouds cover the moon.
You are confused, and at a loss for words.
"I know this is out of the blue, but could you join our force?" she asks you.
"Huh? You want me to join your force?" you ask.
"If you are here now, that means you're dead." she tells you.
You are shocked. You died?!
If you died, then is where ever you are now the afterlife?
"What?! I don't get what you me-" you try to say, before she cuts you off again.
"This is the world of the afterlife. If you don't act, you will disappear." she tells you.
"What do you mean by that? Act against who?" you ask.
She shrugs.
"I don't know. God, I assume." she responds.
"Then what is this about joining your force?" you ask.
"I'm asking you to join the I-Ain't-Dead-Yet-Battlefront. The name of the force changes often. First, it was the Afterlife Battlefront. But that just admits that you're dead, right? That's what we thought. Since then, the name has been constantly changing. Before our current name, we were the It-Doesn't-Feel-Like-I'm-Alive Battlefront. That one felt like a complete joke, so we changed it the next day." she responds.
You look at her, baffled.
"Uh, is that a real gun?" you ask, pointing at the sniper rifle she's looking through.
She sighs.
"Everyone who comes here always has the same reaction. Be more adaptive, and accept things the way they are." she tells you.
"Okay, so if I accept your invitation, what happens next then?" you ask.
"You'll fight." she tells you.
"Against what or who?" you ask.
"That, down there. The enemy of our battlefront." she says, pointing somewhere.
You look, and you see a girl.
She has long, straight black hair and bangs. Her eyes are purple. She is also wearing a school uniform.
"Her? Who is she?" you ask.
"We call her Angel. I'd like to change the name of the battlefront sometime soon, in all honesty. Come up with a better name, you." she says to you.
"Wait! No matter how you look at it, she's just a normal girl!" you say, pointing at Angel.
She doesn't respond, and goes back to looking at her through the sniper rifle.
You decide that Angel does not pose a threat, so you decide to do something.
"Hey, mind if I go over there, and talk to her?" you ask, pointing to her.
"Huh?! Why for?! I don't get what you're trying to do! How did you come up with that?! Are you an idiot?! Try dying once! By the way, this joke is a cliche, since no one can die in this world. Was it funny?" she says to you, turning around suddenly, which surprises you, as you fall over.
"My thoughts on the joke aside... I thought I'd have a better conversation with Angel compared to the girl that's pointing a gun at her." you respond.
She stands up, and sighs.
"I'm on your side. If you don't want me pointing guns, then I'll gladly oblige. You can trust me." she says to you.
You look at her, baffled.
"Hey, Yurippe! What happened to recruiting the new guy? We're short on people right now. We need to resort to every dirty trick we have- oh..." you hear a male voice yell, as he runs towards the two of you, holding an assault rifle.
He looks at you.
You assume this Yurippe is the girl that has been talking to you for the past 5 minutes or so.
Immediately as he gets to the two of you, you go down the stairs to talk to Angel, to see what is going on.
"I'm going over there." you say to them, as you walk down the stairs.
"No! I failed to recruit him!" you hear Yurippe say as you walk.
You don't get what's going on. What was up with those two?
And are you really dead? Is wherever you are now the afterlife?
Most importantly, why can't you remember anything? You walk up to her.
"Uh, good evening." you say to Angel, as she turns around.
"Hmm?" she says.
"Um, you were being targeted by a girl with a gun." you say, pointing behind you.
She looks at you, confused.
"Yurippe said you were an angel or something." you elaborate.
"I'm not an angel." she says to you, with a sigh.
"Obviously. Then-" you try to say, before being cut off by her.
"I am the Student Council President." she says.
You put your hand to your face.
You feel like an idiot.
Yurippe was 100% messing with you.
You still don't even know who you are!
You walk away, waving Angel off.
"I'm just going to the hospital or something." you say to her.
"There are no hospitals here." she responds.
You stop walking, and look back at her.
"Why not?" you ask.
"Because, no one gets sick." she tells you.
"Really? Why's that?" you ask.
"Because, we are all dead." she tells you.
You look at her, with a baffled look.
You realize what's going on.
"Oh, I get it! You're in on this also! You're trying to trick me! Are you the one that caused my amnesia?" you say, pointing at her.
"It's common for others here to experience amnesia. If someone dies in an accident, often times they take a blow to their head." she tells you.
You are slightly annoyed.
"Prove it, then! Prove to me that no one dies here since I'm already dead!" you say to her.
She walks towards you.
"Hand Sonic." she says.
Suddenly, a blade comes out of her, almost as if it replaces her hand.
She lunges forward, and stabs you straight through the heart.
