Work Text:

The wedding will be held on the beach. The place is decorated in white with a hint of blue, and the sun's rays provide good lighting. The stunning sunset view and the cool breeze create the perfect atmosphere.

There are only a few guests, mostly friends and family. The grooms are now preparing in a separate hotel room before the wedding ceremony begins.

Mix is dressed in a blue tuxedo, while Earth is dressed in a grayish tuxedo. They look stunning, their visuals are dazzling, and the joy on their faces can't be taken away.

Mix can't deny that he's nervous right now and can't stop worrying about what might happen. ‘What if he realizes that he doesn't want to marry me? What if he runs away? What about the venue? Is everything all right there?

He goes back and forth to calm himself, but it doesn't seem to work until he receives a message from Earth.

"I know you're nervous right now, but everything will be fine. Don't stress yourself, the wedding is only a few minutes away."

Mix smiled as he realized how well the man knew him. Reading Earth's message helps him relax, he's right, everything will be fine.

"I can't help it, how about you? Are you ready? I can't wait to see you," Mix replied.

"Yup, I'm all set and looking as dashing as ever. ;) I'm so excited to see the most beautiful groom, just a few more minutes, bub, and we'll be seeing each other."

Mix chuckled with Earth's response, silly.

He is now thrilled, his heart is racing, he has been anticipating this day for so long, and it's finally happening. Mix's parents entered the room with his sister, they talked for a while that made them emotional before leaving.

Mix is on his way to the location of the ceremony, his hand sweating and tears welling up in his eyes. He's going through so many emotions right now that no words can fully express how he feels.

The guests' entrance is over, and it's now Mix's turn to walk down the aisle. All eyes were on him, he started to walk while holding a bouquet of flowers. The air is filled with love, the sweet scent of flowers, the soothing sound of the ocean waves, and the band playing the musical instrument of their favorite song.

Everything is perfect, the wedding that everyone had hoped for. Mix laid a glance at Earth, who was standing in front of the altar, waiting for him. They smiled at each other before Mix turned his gaze to his groom, Ter.

Earth is waiting for Mix at the altar, but as the best man, not as the other groom. He's happy right now. He's happy for Mix, but it also breaks his heart.

He should be the one to take Ter's place. the one who marries Mix. If he had only had the courage to admit his feelings earlier, he would not be in such a lot of regret today.

The ceremony began, and Earth was simply sitting there watching the love of his life marry another man. What a martyr he is to attend the wedding even though he knows he will be hurt. But it's Mix's wedding, his best friend's wedding, how can he say no to him?

Everyone started crying as the grooms began to exchange their vows. It's overflowing with affection, sincerity, and sweetness. Earth, on the other hand, can only sense his sadness and bitterness.

"I now pronounce you to be spouses." Everyone was in awe when the priest announced, "You may now kiss."

Earth couldn't hold back his tears any longer, they began to fall down his cheeks like there was no tomorrow. "𝘐'𝘮 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘦?" Earth thought to himself as he struggled to hold back his sobs.

𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳.

They were now at the reception, and Earth was getting ready to give his speech to the newlyweds. He straightened up and opened his notes, where his speech was written.

"And now, Earth Pirapat, the best man of Mix."

Earth walked up to the stage and smiled at the newlyweds.

"I can't believe Ter agreed to marry you," Earth says. The people watching laughed at the two as Mix glared at him jokingly.

"I've known you for 12 years, and I'm glad you've found someone else so you don't have to bother me anymore," Earth chuckled, but something inside him protested. He doesn't mind being bothered by Mix for the rest of his life.

"But, to be honest, this married life is difficult. There will be many issues, quarrels, and disagreements, but I hope you can resolve them all together. I wish you... and Ter a long and happy marriage. And please, Mix, learn how to clean the house," Earth said, rolling his eyes.

Mix laughed and wiped his tears away. They've known each other for a long time and never imagined one of them would marry.

"Happy marriage to both of you," Earth said as he finished his speech and raised a toast to the couple.

The guests clapped and raised their glasses as well. Earth approached the newlyweds, shook Ter's hand, and congratulated him. They talk for a while before he turns his attention to Mix. When he saw the younger one pouting with tears in his eyes, he chuckled and pulled the man into a hug.

"What's the reason for your tears?" Earth asked

"You made me cry," Mix responded as if he were a child. In response, Earth simply chuckled. His tears are welling up in his eyes, but he's doing his best not to cry in front of Mix.

They hugged for a few seconds before Earth continued speaking. "Be happy, okay? Even though you're married now, I'll still be here if you need me."

Mix nodded at him. "How about you? You're not getting any younger, so find and marry someone you want to spend the rest of your life with."

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦. Earth responded in his head but did not say anything out loud, instead, he simply shook his head.

"Let's go now, I'm going to fulfill your request of me singing your theme song," Earth said before pulling back from the hug.

Earth is now standing on the side of the stage, holding a microphone, while the newlywed is sitting in the center. While Earth prepares himself, the instrumental band is doing a sound check. "𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰," he thought.

Earth looked at the couple, saw how Ter invited Mix to dance, and saw how Mix's eyes sparkled every time he looked at Ter, which Mix never looked at him in that way.

"It's finally over, I can't have you anymore. But I just have to accept the fact that loving you from afar is better than never meeting you, the person who made me the happiest."

And there it was, the end of something that never had a chance to begin.

Notes:

I wrote this last year during TerMix era, and since Mix has been tweeting about wedding photoshoots, I thought now would be a good time to post it. I hope you enjoyed reading. ^^
