Chapter Text

Sun poked through Wilbur’s curtains into his eyes. He groaned, pulling his covers over his brown hair trying to keep the light out. It was his least favorite part of the day. Leaving his soft bed and warm blankets at 6 in the morning. Everyone in his family agreed that getting out of bed for school so early in the morning was just stupid but they couldn’t do anything about it so here he was.
Some days Wilbur didn’t want to ever get out of bed especially when he only got 4 hours of sleep. However his father would always send in his younger brother to wake him up. It was a system that was developed when Wilbur had just entered highschool 4 years ago. His father realized that he couldn’t get Wilbur up by himself and when Tommy ran in and jumped on him it immediately woke him up. So every morning Tommy would come into his room and jump on him. Small inconvenience now, Tommy is 15 and heavy as hell, so for a solid minute Wilbur couldn’t breath. It puzzled him that Tommy was roughly the same height as him now, he used to be shorter than him. Guess that’s what happens when your younger siblings actually grow. Wilbur smiled remembering how small Tommy used to be but his smile was quickly wiped from his face when he heard his door open.
“Oh no.” He groaned when he heard Tommy running to his bed, preparing himself for what was happening.
He groaned loudly when Tommy jumped onto him, “Wake up Wilbur!” Tommy
yelled, laughing when Wilbur groaned again.
“Tommy you're far too old for this, why do you keep doing it?” Wilbur groaned.
“Because it annoys you.” Tommy laughed.
Wilbur coughed poking his head out from underneath his blanket, being met with Tommy’s blue eyes that matched their fathers. “Get.The.Fuck.Off.Me.” Wilbur groaned.
“Fine, don’t go back to sleep or I’m sending in Techno.” Tommy laughed, jumping off of Wilbur who gave a final groan.
“You know he won’t do that. The man has to drink five cups of coffee before he can even open his eyes.” Wilbur exclaimed as Tommy ran out of his room.
“Don’t care.”
Wilbur laughed at how carefree Tommy was, Wilbur couldn’t remember a time when he was so carefree. He now juggles a job and school work so by the time he gets done with both it’s 9 or 10 at night maybe later. It was difficult getting not many hours of sleep but somehow it was worth it. So to make sure he didn’t have to deal with his cranky older brother he lifted himself off his bed, throwing the covers off his body. He shivered at the new found chill of the October air. He stood up, arching his back until he heard the crack he was looking for doing the same with his neck allowing his body to stretch. After his body was satisfied he stood up somewhat straight and trudged over to his dresser. Sliding the second top drawer and after considering his options, chose a yellow pullover sweater. It was one of his favorites considering it was one of the last things given to him by his mother. He sighed, shaking away the sad feeling and pulling on a pair of washed out blue jeans. He looked in the mirror above his dresser and laughed. His chocolate brown hair was all over the place, stray hairs sticking out in every direction. He smiled, picking up his brush and straightening his hair out while also keeping it curly. Now satisfied with how he looked, Wilbur put on a pair of socks, grabbed his bag and walked out of his room. Shutting the light and door behind him.
“‘Bout time Wilbur, you took forever I thought I was gonna have to bring Techno up there.” Tommy yelled.
“Speaking of, where is Techno?” Wilbur asked as he walked down the stairs.
“Taking his time as always.” Tommy interjected.
“I’m right here.” Techno seemingly appeared right next to Wilbur causing him to jump out of his skin.
“Holy jesus fucking christ Techno you scared the shit out of me!” Wilbur swore out loud nearly falling down the stairs.
Even though Techno’s hair was more frazzled than his own, Wilbur still jumped from his twins booming voice. Techno may have been nearly a foot shorter than him. Wilbur still found him intimidating.
Techno shrugged off his brother's shock and fear, passing him and walking to the coffee pot. Tommy giggled both at his brother's fear and at his other brother's frazzled, tangled hair. Wilbur laughed at Techno’s mug that he had given him for Christmas a few years back. It was a simple black mug that had bold white lettering saying, “Have a good day,” on the mug itself and on the bottom was a middle finger. It gave everyone a laugh in the morning because it correctly accounted for how Techno was in the morning.
Techno poured the black coffee into the mug, giving everyone the middle finger as he drank from the cup. He wasn’t one to add creamer or sugar, implying that it took away it’s wake up factor. No one questioned it and just left him alone.
Wilbur sat down at a chair at the table next to his younger brother who was quickly eating a waffle. Their father sat at the head of the table nearly falling asleep while holding his own cup of coffee. “Hey Dad?” Tommy asked, causing their father to shake his head and look up to his son, “Can Ranboo and Tubbo come over after school, we’re planning on what we’re gonna do at the dance.”
“Yep, speaking of, have those two asked anyone to that dance?”
“Well yeah, Tubbo asked Ranboo who of course said yes but they are helping me ask someone.” Tommy spoke with pride.
“Oh good for them.” Their father hummed, taking a sip of his coffee, “What about you boys, ask anyone?”
“I’m not even going.” Techno groaned.
“Why not? It’ll be good for you.”
“I just don’t want to.” Techno argued.
Their father shrugged realizing he wasn’t gonna get anywhere, “What about you Wilbur?”
“Um.” Wilbur flushed thinking about who he wanted to ask.
“Na, Wilbur’s too scared to ask her.” Tommy chimed in leaning on Wilbur’s shoulder. “Ah poor shame.”
“I am not scared!” Wilbur exclaimed, “I’m just waiting for the right moment.” He reasoned as Techno broke in laughter.
“No bro you're scared, of course the person you want to ask happens to be a cheerleader and popular.”
“Well I don’t see you going up and talking to her!” Wilbur spoke as his voice cracked under the yell causing Tommy to giggle.
“That’s because I don’t want to, most people come up and talk to me, not the other way around.” Techno spoke.
Wilbur took the second to admire his older brother. He wasn’t very tall and his brown roots were shining through his faded pink hair dye. He was strong though and held a figure that would usually make him hard to approach. However those who actually know him find it easier to talk or approach him. Girls often approach him, finding him attractive but he never found any of them attractive…strange. Wilbur thought that that was the only part of Techno’s life that was easy. He never had to worry about if people liked him or not because they always told him. If he wanted a date to the dance he wouldn’t even need to ask people would just flock towards him. Wilbur envied that because he was the person who tracked close behind his crush just to listen in on some of their conversations. People didn’t just attach to Wilbur he had to form attachments which never came easy.
“Word of advice dude, ask her before someone else does.” Techno spoke, pulling Wilbur out of his thoughts.
“How though?”
“Just take her outside of your school, ask her to the dance in a way that you know she would like. Some like overly romantic gestures while others prefer more sweet gestures.” Their father explained.
Wilbur nodded determined to get this girl to go to the dance with him and who knows maybe they’d become a couple. It wasn’t certain how the day would go but only time could tell and Wilbur was excited to know.
