Shinra and Arthur are out to do some groceries because Lieutenant Hinawa says so.
Both boys are still in their casual wear. walking from the 8th Cathedral to the nearby supermarket. Why did Lieutenant Hinawa choose Arthur of all people to come with him? He doesn’t even know if this self-proclaimed knight king will help him or cause him more trouble.
They keep walking along the way, surprisingly without any bickering until they reach their destination. Today is kinda crowded, maybe because it’s Sunday in the evening. But both boys don't have any trouble with crowded places, so they just walk in and go grab their own shopping basket.
But before starting the task Shinra gently tapped Arthur's shoulder to get his attention “ Do you still have that small paper Lieutenant Hinawa gave you? It's a shopping list and we need that. "
Arthur looks at Shinra and tilts his head like he doesn't know what the other is talking about. But suddenly he widened his eyes and let out a short 'ah!' before taking out that small paper from his pocket. The blond looks at the list and his face slowly turns into confusion
“ What's wrong? “ asked Shinra also confused
“ I don’t know what we should buy first. There is no number. “ Arthur made a serious face, still staring at the small paper.
Shinra let out a sigh and pinch the bridge of his nose, how stupid can this guy be.. and why did Lieutenant Hinawa give the shopping list to this idiot in the first place? He tries to calm himself down by slowly exhaling, before asking a new question.
“ What is the first thing on the list? “
“ Milk. “
“ Then we buy milk first. “
Getting a bit annoyed but the brunette doesn’t want to start a fight so he walks ahead without saying anything more. The blond quickly follows with paper still in his hand.
Both boys walk from place to place to buy their groceries and sometimes come back to the same place because Arthur forgot what is on the list. And when Shinra asks for the paper so he can check them himself, Arthur refuses. He doesn’t want to make a scene so he gives in to his rival easily and lets the knight king keep that paper to himself. Even though Arthur thinks Shinra is a bit weird today, he doesn't pay much attention to it because he thinks that maybe the devil is just being obedient.
Two baskets getting more and more full. Arthur said there are only a few more things left and told Shinra to hurry up because he’s tired. The one getting ordered just told him to shut up. Luckily they can continue their duty without starting a fight.
“ Hey, what’s next? " After putting a jar of strawberry jam into his basket, Shinra asks while still looking at the shelf with many jars. But he didn’t get any answer. “ Arthur, what’s next? " he called out the knight king’s name and still didn’t get any response. “ Arthur ? “ he called again, starting to feel a bit worried. He looks back to where he thinks the other is.
Unfortunately, the blond isn’t there.
Panicked, he looks around. Maybe that guy just went to take a look at something without telling him. Even though he’s so stupid he won’t get lost in a place like this, right ?
Trying to find a missing person in a crowded place like this, even for him is not easy. After some time had passed but he still couldn't find Arthur, he started searching. He shouldn’t have taken his eyes off of that idiot even if it's just for a second.
He feels his heart beating fast, sweat rolling down from his forehead. But they are not children anymore, so getting separated in a supermarket is not that bad.
Why so dramatic?
Shinra shakes his head to get that thought away and focus on finding Arthur. He doesn’t know when the other is missing, but maybe not too long and might still be around here. Because the last time they talked was just a while ago when they were looking for some dozen eggs and Arthur said something like “ I want that thing. “ and pulled the hem of Shinra’s t-shirt then pointed at the thing he was referring to. It’s a blue mug with a pattern of a big castle on the side, Shinra followed where the blond was pointing to and when he saw it he immediately said no.
Ah.. maybe that’s it, maybe he really does want that knightly mug. He wanted it so much that he left the demon he said to always keep an eye on alone.
And it's possible that he is still there right?
Not wasting any more time the brunette hurries and heads to where he thinks he could find the blond. He walks through the crowd trying not to bump into too many people. He doesn’t really remember where but still better than nothing.
He keeps walking, faster with every step. Many thoughts pop up in his head. His mouth twitches into a smile uncontrollably.
What if Arthur isn’t there? What should he do? Should he keep searching? Should he just leav-
“ Hey, where are you going? “
That soft voice and a grip at his wrist snapped Shinra out of his thoughts. He flinches a little and quickly turns to see who is there. And when he sees a familiar face, his red eyes widen and his mouth agape in surprise.
“ Arthur! “ Shinra couldn’t help himself but say the other boy’s name out loud. Turn his whole body to the blond, reach out his hands and grab those pale hands tightly. He can feel his heartbeat become calmer. “ Yes, it's me. “ Arthur answered, a little confused.
When Shinra realizes what he is doing his face suddenly flushes red, his smile goes wider and he immediately lets go of Arthur’s hand.
“ Where have you been, devil? I can't find you anywhere. “ The still confused boy asks, tilting his head.
That question quickly changes the brunette's mood from relieved to pissed off in a second “ I should be the one asking! Why don’t you stay with me? What if you get lost, you idiot! “ Shinra scolds, frowning. His face was still a bit flushed. Yes, he’s angry but also WORRIED and he’s not gonna admit it. The one being scolded looks away with a not-happy expression.
“ I want that mug. I know you already said no because it’s not on the list, but I really want it. “ Arthur said while searching for something in his basket. “ Here look, I also got one for you. I thought you were sulking because I only got one for myself so I brought two of them. “ Then he brings out two mugs. One is a blue mug with a small yellow crown, the other one is a red mug with a small black crown.
Shinra’s eyes widened again as he saw those two mugs. Arthur got one for him? And it’s a matching? So he didn’t take that one with a castle pattern. Is it because of him?
But..
“ Why? I mean why give me the one with a crown too? “ Without knowing he already said what’s on his mind. The blond didn’t answer immediately. He puts the two mugs back into his basket before looking up at Shinra and smiling playfully.
“ Because you are a demon king? Demon king and knight king. Sounds good right? “
And again, Shinra flushes and his nervous smile appears again. “ Oh shut up. I’m not a demon nor a devil “ He said, walking away. Arthur lets out a ‘Hmph’ and quickly follows.
But if being a demon king allows him to stay by Arthur’s side, then he would gladly be one.
