Jingyi was sitting in a bar alone while a singer sang ‘I’d rather go Blind’ by Etta James. The bar held many performances of local and underground artist, the coincidence of this song being sung now was just ironically painful. The words rung through his head hard.
‘Something told me it was over
When I saw you and her talkin'
Something deep down in my soul said, 'Cry, girl'
When I saw you and that girl walkin' around’
His friend Zizhen was set to be in an arrange marriage with a girl and his heart was breaking. The wedding was suppose to be today and he was invited, but he couldn’t bring himself to go. Watching the love of his life be wedded to another was a heartbreak Jingyi would rather not witness.
He dropped his head down on the table as tears spilled down his eyes. A few moments passed when he heard the chair next to him suddenly slide open.
“I knew it’d find you here” JingYis head snapped up at the sound of that beautiful voice he'd never get tired of. Next to him sat his ‘friend’ Zizhen in a fancy Tux. He sat elegantly, skin glowing and appearing soft in the low lighting of the bar. He looked as beautiful as ever.
“You're going to be late for your wedding.” Jingyi spoke, voice shaky as he gulped back a sob.
“Yeah they won’t be seeing me anytime soon, I’d much rather be here..with you” Zizhen spoke his eyes meeting JingYis.
“Your family would never accept it” Jingyi whispered, tears forming in his eyes. Zizhen placed a hand softly under JingYis chin and tilted his head up.
“I'd rather go blind than to see you walk away from me.” Zizhen whispered. Jingyi chuckled and gently closed his eyes. Understanding, Zizhen leaned in and softly kissed Jingyi, he could taste a bit of his salty tears but he didn’t care. All he cared for was having this moment with Jingyi, and making sure it wasn’t the last.
Zizhen pulled away slowly after a few seconds,
“I’ve officially cut off contact with my father and his business. I refuse to lose you Jingyi, I love you, and only you. If your willing, I want spend the rest of my life with you.” Zizhen allowed tears to stream down his face as he laid his forehead on JingYis.
“You idiot of course I want to stay with you” Jingyi cried as he threw himself into Zizhen arms.
They embraced each other for what was like eternity, far past the ending of the song.
And so they run away together and live happily ever after <3
Until Zizhen forgot to un thaw the chicken before Jingyi got home from work.
