Chapter Text

Business never rests and where money is to be earned, that’s where they will be. However, each of the captains schedules are sprawled and it's quite difficult to arrange for a meeting between all of them as Luchino is invited to an event at Boston, Giancarlo in New York to attend meetings and Giulio was in South America dealing with the Bondone family affairs. Those left behind, Ivan and Bernardo were left to handle Daivan in the absence of their comrades.

Currently, a public trade route that the Daivan mafia should have access to (and by other families for that matter) has been prohibited due to privatization by Chicago’s businessmen of the vicinity. It is a small canal that neither the cops or the local government has paid no attention to as it's a poverty-stricken area with inconspicuous feasibility. However, the growing population raised a necessary need for expansion of the area and its businessmen wasted no time to plot their lands and their names to a marketable housing area.

The news couldn’t have come in a more unwanted manner as other profitable areas for an organization such as theirs has been slowing down due to the effects of the fluctuating market. A large quantity of military grade weapons was supposed to be in the CR:5’s possession up until that point where it had not yet reached their side. Thus sending waves of exasperation within the organization and other gangs relying on that route for import and export.

“That was a large loss.” Bernardo heaves a sigh and sinks onto his chair. The money spent was enough to land a blow on his stomach.

Ivan rolled his eyes at the absurdity of it all. “You don’t say.”

“Before I light the candles and start mourning, let’s get that delivery back, shall we?” Bernardo said with determination in his tone. He rummaged through the cabinets for a map of the area.

Ivan waits for Bernardo to finish sprawling the map on a vacant table. With a lighter, he lit the cigarette situated between his lips. As the end flickers, he inhales the grey smoke.

Pointing his finger at the location of the canal, Bernardo without hesitation began his summary and orders.

“At this end, there won’t be anyone but the indigents living in the vicinity. I’ll have the locals clear the way for you. Retrieve everything and go back in one piece.” Bernardo said.

“Sounds simple enough.” Ivan snickers.

Sending a wink to Ivan’s way, Bernardo continues. “I’m simplifying it. You’ll be going with both our men so just hand over the goods to mine. At this hour, the other smallfrys won’t be stopping you.”

“Hm. Right- When will those idiots go back here anyways?” Ivan asks.

Hearing the word ‘idiots’, Bernardo reminisced to himself about the people far from their home. “Luchino will be home first as Gian will then have to go to California. And Giulio, approximately next month. Why? Do you miss any of them?” he playfully retorts.

Ivan puts out his cigarette in the nearby ashtray and continues. “Wha- You dipshit! I’m just exhausted carrying their weight around. Am sure you are too. That damn Luchino’s shit…” He scuffles his hair and stands up from the comfort of the couch.

“Well, I did tell you I could handle it. Luchino would be thankful regardless. For now, just ready your troops.” Bernardo heaves a sigh and rolls back the map. Unable to protest at the facts, Ivan groans in his frustration.

Waving his hand around, Ivan exits the room, leaving Bernardo with the buzzing sound emanating from the lights. Leaving no time to spare, he dials unfamiliar numbers to take care of the other details required for this extraction. As the dial tone rings, he places the handset at his side.

“It’s me.”
