Chapter Text
George was not expecting to get a call on discord that day. Especially not at 4 am, and especially not from Fundy. You see, over the past year, George and Fundy have become great friends after Fundy asked him to play chess one night. Ever since then, they have been playing chess, at first, once a week. Then, they started playing it regularly. Slowly, chess games turned into bedwars, talking for one hour turned into talking from the moment they wake up to the moment they go to bed. Those calls never happened this late though. So it's safe to say it was a surprise that Fundy would call him at this hour of the night. Don't get him wrong, it was not unpleasant, but a surprise for sure. Without wasting any more time, he answers the call and is immediately greeted by Fundy.
"GOGY, HI!"
"Hi, Fundy!"
"Haven't talked to you in a while man, how have you been?"
"We literally met up a few weeks ago. And played chess yesterday night."
"Okay, you didn't need to make me seem dumb."
George snickered, " I've been doing great. What about you?"
"Been doing fantastic man, I'm excited!", Fundy said without missing a beat, you can practically hear the excitement in his voice.
"I can tell. What for?"
"MY VISA GOT ACCEPTED!"
"Congrats Fundy!", said George with a hint of excitement in his voice. Truth is, when he met Fundy in real life just two weeks ago, he enjoyed his company, so he was looking forward to spending more time with the Dutchman.
"Thanks! That's so cool, right!?"
"It is! Where are you going to live, if you don't mind me asking?"
And for the first time in the call, there was complete silence. George was sure that if a pin fell on the ground, you would be able to hear it. He got worried. Did he say something wrong? Did he cross the line with the last question? Did he make Fundy uncomfortable? Is Fundy angry with him now? Does Fundy hate-
"Um, yeaaaa about that...That's kinda why I called you. I need your help...", Fundy sounded embarrassed. Even without the camera being on, George was sure that Fundy was scratching the back of his neck right now.
"Oh... Well, what do you need my help with?"
Another pause, this one longer than the last one. But George is a patient man, and he will let Fundy collect his thoughts, however long that takes. After a few moments, he hears the man on the other side of the call take a deep breath.
"Okay so, I have been looking for places to rent all over Brighton, London, Newhaven, Oxford, hell I even looked in Birmingham and Nottingham but there isn't a single person that would rent or sell a flat to a loud full-time streamer. And I need to have my bags packed and leave in like a week. So I was wondering, could I maybe stay at your place?"
"....what?", it took George several moments to process what Fundy just said or rather asked from him. It took him so long to process the situation that, after he got a grasp of it and zoned back in, he was greeted by a frantic Fundy.
"-and you don't have to do it if you don't want to, I get it if you don't want me as a guest, I'll just go and find some hotel until I find a place, it's not that big of a deal at all! Sorry for bothering you about this, have a nice rest of your day, well night."
And before George could mutter another word, he was alone in the discord call. It took him a second to figure out why Fundy hung up so abruptly, but he isn’t stupid. He knows that Fundy thought he wasn't welcome and that George was gonna deny him. George thought about it for a second and decided that yes, even though he didn't have a guest bedroom and Fundy could only sleep on the couch, they could make it work. He wants to make it work after non intensionally giving him the cold shoulder. So without a second thought, he pressed the call button. The first time there was no answer. He called a second time but was met with the same fate. He prayed that the third time won't be the same. He called a third time. And after the third ring, Fundy picked up the call.
"Hi, George. Is there anythi-"
"Yes."
There was a pause.
"What? ", asked Fundy sounding confused.
George took a deep breath, "Yes, you can live with me until you find a place."
"Wait, really? But I thought-"
"You just caught me off guard Fundy, I needed a moment to think about it."
"Oh... sorry"
"No don't apologize, I zoned out, you probably felt awful when I didn't answer."
"Well, I mean...kinda? Not your fault tho, I have been rejected so many times today so I just kinda assumed your silence meant no."
"Who rejected you today?"
"Well I asked Will and his mate David but they said they don't have space right now only after they finish renovating the house if I still haven't found a place they are happy to have me but that won't be for another month. Niki and her roommate don't have free space, neither do Jack and Scott. Tubbo has free space but he won't be home for months cause he is going to America, it would be weird to stay with only his family there, and Tommy just doesn't have space. You were kinda the last person I was gonna ask before giving up and renting a hotel."
"Well, I said yes, so you don't have to look for hotels now."
"Thank fuck you did, I wasn't looking forward to looking for cheap hotels that are somewhat decent."
There was silence in the call after that, but it wasn't unpleasant. It was the enjoyable type of silence, where neither felt uncomfortable. The silence was eventually broken by Fundy.
"So, are you up for a game of chess?"
"I'm always up for chess."
With that, he opened chess.com and accepted a game request that Fundy sent.
" Get ready to lose."
"Now, I don't know about that, Gogy."
"Want to bet?", said George, confident that he could beat Fundy.
"Loser has to gift 20 subs to the winner."
"Deal. "
Ten minutes later, a notification popped up in Fundy's chat.
GeorgeNotFound is gifting 20 Tier 1 Subs to the community.
George leaned back in his chair and sighed as he listened to Fundy laugh at his misery.
"Yep," George thought, "This is gonna be interesting."
