Tanizaki was now a traitor, it was only a recent development but he had yet to regret it. Really the decision had been made in the heat of the moment kind of thing but he'd done it anyway and it's not like there's take backs in this situation. He wouldn't take it back anyway, Tanizaki had done it for his sister and he'd die on that hill.
Joining the Mafia kept his sister safe, she was under the mafia's protection. Tanizaki knew everyone would hate him for this, including his sister, but his decision was made and that was it.
