Chapter Text
For many years you were tossed between your living family members, none of which really wanted you. You were a product of your mothers adultery, and as such not even her parents wanted you. You were also born with one green eye and one black, with white hair, something that wasn’t in your mothers genetics. You were the shame of the family, and no one wanted you.
One day a man appeared and offered your family a chance that they jumped at. He offered to take you with him, that you would live with him instead. While your family had no idea of who he was, or what he wanted with you, they happily accepted and you left that day with the man.
You feared the worst, that the man would beat you, use you for something unforgivable, or even kill you, but you soon learned that wasn’t the case. You were given a room of your own in his large house, and fed three times a day. Though you barely ever saw him because of his job, he was always kind to you when he did see you. All he asked was that you never leave the house, as it could be dangerous for you to do so.
You lived in the house till you were nine, never seeing the man besides meals and the occasional passing by.
But the morning of your ninth birthday changed your life, forever.
“My name is Kagaya.” He said that morning over breakfast.
You looked up at him, curious. You had never learned his name before this moment, but not for lack of trying. You had asked some of the house staff, trying to get a name but they never provided one. And you hadn’t ever ventured out of the house, he was so kind when he asked you not to, you never wanted to disobey him.
“Kagaya?” You asked, setting your miso broth down. “That’s a beautiful name.”
“Thank you, and what was the name that you were given?”
“I Wasn’t ever given a name.” You said, looking down at that. It was true, your family refused to give you a name, as to not scorn their name any further.
“How about Fuyona?”
“It’s fitting.”
He gave you a gentle smile before continuing, “Fuyona, today you learn of your family and why I brought you here.”
You sat straighter at that. You had always been curious, wanting to know more than anything else as to why your family had hated and shunned you. Why were they so willing to give you up to a man that they had never even seen before.
“Your mother was pregnant by another man, someone other than your father.” Kagaya started, watching you closely, “Your family, nor I, know of who your father was. Your mother kept that secret till the day she was murdered.”
“Do you think I will ever find out his identity?”
“It’s not likely. While I did try to locate him, no one seems to know who it might have been. No one in the village you were born in knew, though many rumors were spread about it. I ventured down the path of each of those rumors, and none were true.”
You nodded in understanding. At this point, there would be no reason to try and locate the man. It would cost more than what it was worth.
“Your mother was a month away from birth when she was murdered. Because of that you were born a month early, cut out of her while she clung to life.”
“Why?”
“I believe her husband at the time thought you were his child, but with one look they knew that was not the case. Your face is similar to your mothers, but your features are not. Once they realized you were of their blood, they stopped trying to save your mother and she died.”
“Who killed my mother?”
“That is where this becomes… difficult. I will explain everything, but hold any questions till the end of my explanation. It will be easier that way.”
“Yes sir.”
Kagaya gave you another smile. “Your mother was killed by a demon.”
Yes, you were shocked by the information but you remained quiet so he could continue.
“What information I have gathered from the incident, it was Muzan. Muzan is the first demon, and thus a powerful and evil force that threatens the world we live in. As he killed your mother he fed her some of his blood, which she ingested while they tried to save her life and was passed onto you. Because of this, you were born half human and half demon. While I have no idea of the extent of your mothers consumption, and no idea how much was passed to you, you were born half demon. Now if you have any questions, please ask.”
“If I am a product of such an evil creature, why did you not kill me when I first arrived?”
“A very good question. I did have every intention of killing you when I brought you here but when we arrived I realized something. You had not chosen the path of a demon, unlike those who sought it out, you were an innocent child. You were a product of a horrible instance, and you should not suffer for that.”
“Is that why I was never allowed to leave the house?”
“Yes.” Kagaya took a sip of his miso before continuing, “Others did not agree with my decision, and would have taken any chance to kill you. As long as you were in my house you were safe.”
“How can I repay you?”
“Repay me? Even though I just told you I was willing to kill you.”
“You may have planned to kill me, but you didn’t. Because of this my life is a debt, and I wish to repay that.”
You got up and walked over to his side, before sitting once again. You bowed to him in your position, “I wish to repay you in any way possible. Whatever you ask, you will have.”
Kagaya smiled at you, pleased by your actions.
“You will train to become a demon slayer and join the corps.”
You sat up at that, once again confused. “I am unaware of this corps.”
“Many are, as our number dwindles because of the demons. But they exist, and you will become one. You will fight alongside my other children and kill the demons that threaten our lives.”
“Yes sir.” You said, bowing once again.
From that day forward you did nothing but train. You strengthened your body and mind, all under the careful watch of Kagaya. You learned the art of the sword, mastered your breathing, and learned how you were similar to the demons. You had their strength, their speed, their ability to heal yourself, even their ability to use blood demon art, but you had none of their weakness. You're able to walk out into sunlight, training hard under it till your body seems broken but you would wake the next day and do it all over again. You didn’t have to eat other humans to gain power, you were able to develop your powers like the others did.
But you did age. Over the years you grew like any other human, your body developing like the others at the compound, something Kagaya was pleased with. You were instructed never to use your blood demon art in front of other slayers, or the Hashira's, as it would cause confusion and hysterics, and you never did. You trained in secret for that, spending many months away from the compound so none would see, and eventually mastered your ability. Your demon blood art was prison. You were able to imprison another, be it their mind or body, and only a Hashira or higher level demon would have the power to escape from it.
By the time you were thirteen you had mastered all that you could, and set out for the final trial. Kagaya had delayed your trial for two years, insisting you train more, but now even he couldn’t prolong it. You stood there with the others, ready to become a demon slayer.
