The Sun and the Moon belong to eachother. Are inseparable. When they are together, each of them Shine as bright as they ever can be. People were fascinated by the beautifulness, of the Sun during day and of the Moon during the night.
500 year Ago the brightness vanished. They still shine but not as the Story's of 500 years ago would've proven. Not as bright as the Archons remember but today's people, would classify this brightness as good and beautiful.
Neither of these shine together in harmony. The Sun started to lighten up again, when the moon felt like it hadn't moved at all. Over the time, the calm and soothing light of the Sun, started to turn into a more angrier and threatening expression but mortal people wouldn't really notice.
Yet the people are surprised that the Moon starts to shift or move again, feeling like it has some live in it again.They don't know why but didn't really question it either. I mean, would mortals even care about the shifting expression of the natural lights above their Sky?
At least one boy does.
Even in his younger age, he feels fascinated by the radiating objects above him. If you ask him why, he would answer with:
'Hmm I'm not sure, I just feel attracted to it. I just want to learn more about them, these are just so fascinating. Especially the moon, it's so perfect.'
When this Child fell into a place, that felt like another world to him, he learned a truth about the current state of the Sun and the moon.
"Wow, there is even a moon here but... it's still so dull, like the one in my hometown. How sad." That young boy has a sad expression on his face and tries to reach the moon with his hand.
While talking a hand touches the young boys shoulder.
"You are right, it's sad to see how lifeless the moon is, if you ask me. I'm not sure for how long, this state of it would be. I hope it will end soon, oh how much I would give, to make the moon brighten up again and to be reunited with the sun. Yet it will take a long time, till this happens."
"The sun and the moon reuniting again? What's that supposed to mean? Although they really look like both planets had some scars and wounds on them, these are still separated by day and night." He turns his head to the man next to him, who has an expressionless face gazing to the moon.
"Well" He said while leaving the boy's shoulder and crossing his arms to his chest. "Young boy, I don't think you ever heard the story's about the moon and the sun. The sun and the moon were also called 'the twins above the sky' These had some different personalities.
The sun, it's energetic and motivating, brightly, open minded, protective and the so called prince of the sun.
The moon, it's calm and soothing, more reversed but caring, fightful and the so called Princess of the moon.
Despite the difference, they loved eachother unconditional, like the brother and sister they are. One day, everything changed, when an unknown God manages to separate them and to take their powers away, which caused the fading lights of these two.
It took some time, till the sun named Soleil awoke again with the goal to get his sister back but no-one would help him, even the immortal beings, who knew the original state of these planets. Over his journey Soleil became angrier, wich made the current state of the sun so threatening and hateful.
Now it's only goal is to get revenge on those who hurt his sister and save her and be reunited with her again."
With this last sentence, he sounds so angry, it gives the ginger haired boy a shiver down his spine.
He needs some time to process this story but it doesn't take to long, till he sat a goal to his mind.
"How can I help? I want to help, the moon to shine bright again! There must be a way right? I don't want to see this lifeless moon above my hometown forever, I want to witness a bright full night that no-one has ever seen before." He sounds so desperate and angry. Angry to the people who let this state happen in the first place.
The man looks at the around 14 years old boy.
"I acknowledge your motivation but I don't really believe, there is a way you could help, the enemy lives above the sky and has a strength, I don't believe you could conquer them, no matter how strong you get, in your world. I'm sorry boy." He ruffles the boys hair.
"Then teach me how to be as strong to help, I want to be a warrior like my Dad always tells me. I want to go to adventures, defeat as many enemies as possible, even though people wouldn't believe, I could defeat them. Let me conquer the world!"
"Hmm....you are really eager, don't you think? Fine, fine...if you want to conquer these things you need to get stronger and as I said in your Homeworld this wouldn't be possible. So you have to train here in the abyss and that won't be easy. It could even happen, that you could lose your life while training. So still motivated to learn or not?"
"If it helps me to get the moon back, I would do anything. So yeah I'm ready to train till my hands are bleeding." Putting his hand to his chest, shows how eager he is, to fulfill his goal.
Certain boy trains under many people in the Abyss or the army of his homeland but he definitely got stronger and more and more eager during these years.
Yet the moon still looked lifeless.
One day during his early twenties, he wanted to train under the moonlight, like he always does, he noticed a difference in the night sky, it made him drop his weapon. He reaches after the night sky like he did since he was a kid but this, this time it's different. He reaches the moon with the knowledge deep down, that the moon is awake. Although he didn't notice, the moon starting to reflect, in the pure with snows beneath him, it wasn't bright but it's still beautiful to see.
The man even start to tear up just to see a glimpse of a shining moonlight.
"I can't believe it.. the moon, the moon is awake and it's so mesmerising. I promise, I help you to shine even more brighter and get revenge on those who Injustices you."
He didn't want to train anymore for today but rather enjoy the moonlight above him.
"Paimon please wait. The food won't be gone when we arrive." A blond woman runs after, a flying little kid?
These two companions arrive at a restaurant called 'wanmin restaurant' there they are being greeted by the restaurants infamous cook Xiangling and her companion Guoba
"Hello Lumine, hello Paimon, how is it going? You probably are here to eat right? If it's so, than I sadly have to tell you two, that we don't have any seats left. I'm sorry."
Both Lumine and Paimon stepped forward and it's true every table is taken.
"Lumine! Paimon told you, that we should've left the harbour earlier. Now we have to wait. That's so cruel." She whines like a toddler and throws her fists to her friend.
"Huh? Ojou-chan, is that you? Hey Paimon, why don't you two come here, next to me. I would even pay for you two." A ginger haired man wave's at them with a genuine Voice.
Paimon drags Lumine to the table with much resistance from the dragged one.
"Paimon! Paimon please. I don't want to go to him. Please let go of me!"
Of course the hungry flying girl didn't listen at all but as she drags her friend down, Lumine trips but luckily a man could catch her with one muscular arm of his.
"Gotcha Ojou-chan." He genuinely smiles, while having his arm between her arms and her chest. His arm is even so strong, she's still hovering over the floor because he had catches her mid- air.
When she realises what happens, she's shocked.
"Hey Childe, tha-thanks for catching me, I really appreciate it but could you let go of me now? Please"
"Of course I will, if you let go of my arm first. These are in a tight grip, I must say."
Both of them let go of eachother and Lumine sits herself down on the opposite side of Childe.
"Well thanks for helping me....and for In-inviting us for Dinner. That's really kind of you." She fiddles with her finger and her face turned red.
Childe then said it was no big deal for the invitation but he still glared at Paimon, like she wasn't welcome in the moment between Lumine and him. Even addressed Paimon as a 'floating thing'
If Paimon heard this, she would've mocked him, for being so mean but she's focused on what to eat.
"Childe... not even 5 minutes and you already have this mesmerized? expression on your face. Why do you have it every time we meet." She always gets so flustered, when he looks at her like that.
"To be fair Ojou-chan, it isn't even in my intention to look at you like this but something is so charming on you but I'm not sure what it is." His arms on the table and it's hand on his cheek. He sound so genuine while telling her this.
It's the truth, he doesn't really know what makes her so special for him.
Even if it has a romantical origin, he wouldn't desire it. Lumine and him have different goals. Their first meeting was even a collision of their ideals. Lumine wanting to find her brother and collecting informations about his whereabouts from the Archons and then there is him, who is in a army under the goal to collect things from certain Archons, so her majesty the Tsaritsa can fulfill her goal.
Not to forget that is ulterior motive is, to safe the moon princess, help her to lighten up again and bring her back to the sun prince.
After their dinner is done, Childe left some Mora there, so Paimon can eat her dessert. Lumine and Childe wandering around in the night sky.
"Hey Lumine, don't you think the night sky looks so mesmerising, especially the moonlight. You are lucky that you visit this world, when the moon started to shine again. In my childhood it was so dull and lifeless. I hope these times are over." He looks above to the moon and smiles at it. He's so happy that the sky got brighter day by day, for him it is a sign that the princess of the moon is getting better day by day.
"Huh...I mean, yes yes the sky looks beautiful and the moon hmmm it could be brighter. Much more brighter." She also looks above with a sad expression. Her hearing how Childe said that there was no real moonlight during his childhood.
"Yeah, it could be much brighter. When it's reunited with the sun again, it will shine so beautiful."
"Reunited with the sun, what? Who told you that, the sun and the moon should be reunited?"
"Well, when I was in the Abyss. There was a man and he told me about the Story of the 'Twins above the sky'. It's basically about the so called prince of the Sun, who's sister the princess of the moon got separated and he wants to find her and get revenge, on those who hurt her. He told me that when they were together, these both shine so bright no-one could imagine that. That's why they should be together again and I will help them with it." Oh how joyful he tells his favourite story but it's the first time, he tells the story to someone else. Before that he wouldn't dare himself to speak out this legends because who would believe him?
"Wow okay...so how should the 'Twins above the sky' be reunited again or like is there anything about, when the Prince of the Sun would find his sister? I mean, the Princess of the moon is awake now, so for what is he waiting for? Also how could the...the man you talked with help to reunite them? Or even you, how could you help them?" She mumbles mostly to herself.
"Well, well, well Ojou-chan, you have many Questions about it, don't you? But just because I trust you, I will share my knowledge with you.
So I'm also curious, that there isn't any sign of the brother as well or that the sun is still in a threating colour. I mean he still wants to Fight the enemy above the sky but I'm not sure when he would go into the war with the unknown God but if it's happening, I will fight alongside the sun." He declares to Lumine with no doubts in his Voice.
"But Childe that's just stupid, you want to battle a God, that managed to separate the Moon and the Sun? I know how strong you are but...but is that really worth it for you?" Her worried face is looking down to the See, with the reflection of the shining moon.
"You know what, Childe? I'm... I'm pretty tired right now, maybe we could continue this topic on another day. Have a good night and take care of yourself okay, Ajax?" She waves at him and moves away from him.
Ajax. Ajax? Ajax!
Hearing his birth name coming out of her mouth, makes him skip a heartbeat.
"......yes...I will take care of myself... Ojou-chan" These words a barley heard even to a person that would stand right next to him. He slightly waves at her, his arm barley moving. Ajax watches Lumine going away with an astounded expression. Yet he didn't catch the detail on how her whole body is being reflected by the moonlight.
what...what was that Ojou-chan? You know my birth name because of my brother but I never expected you to call me that. Is there a reason for it?
He is being left clueless and this, this lets him stay awake for quite some nights. He hopes that the moon has an answer for him.
While Childe searched for the moon, Lumine searches for his brother and she finally gets some clues.
"Miss, we got the information you need about the whereabouts of a blond traveler, in this area."
Thank you and here is the needed Mora." She lighting drops the bag of Mora and leaves the lady alone.
"So do you believe with these information, we could meet him again?" Paimon hovers around her blond friend and reads what's on the notice.
"I think so. If we get lucky once, we can get lucky twice."
Yes she knew that there is no chance, that she would see her brother in the over World but Dainsleif could be here.
They search around the area, where certain person should be. Yet there is no direct clue about him but some kind of trail of abyssal creatures or things. Lumine battles herself trough them, till they reach an Abyss Herald. For their surprise, next to the abyss Herald, Dainsleif can be found, who is talking with them.
"There you are Dainsleif! This time you won't get away from us and even this Abyss Herald won't stop us!" Paimon shouts, while she and Lumine are running towards them.
As Dainsleif realises from whom this Voice comes from, he is visibly shocked. As he sees them, he tries to back of because he knows that he couldn't give her the answers, she wants to have. The abyss Herald on the other hand runs towards the blond girl and is ready to attack her.
Of course Lumine can't outrun the Herald to reach Dainsleif. She just witnesses him leaving trough a Portal once more.
Just like the first time.
Now she wants to get rid of the Herald and some of her built up steam.
"Gosh why, won't anyone of you, give me any information about my brother! I just want him back! I just want to see my brother and to talk to him!" She rages with full energy and strength, towards the Herald.
"Your brother said, it isn't the right time for it and what the Abyss Prince say's has priority. So we will do anything to separate the Sun and the Moon as long as the order of Prince Aether still stands." He counters her attacks but still is ready to strike out for his Attack
"I don't care, what my Brother ordered you and everyone else to do. I won't wait any longer to talk some sense into his mind." Anger and sadness can be found in her voice.
Anger towards her brother, that he pushes her away and keeps secrets for him. Like he couldn't trust her.
Anger towards on how he said, that he misses her deeply and plans to start a war to a god and that he told these things to a Child.
Sadness towards his brother because he misses him so deeply, to be reunited again, to travel again with him.
Sadness towards on how much he has changed. Where was the happy and caring person, that would've chosen Violence as his last resort?
All she wants is to be reunited with the sun again.
Yet every source of his whereabouts Vanish within seconds and so does the Abyss Herald. While they fight, he uses the first chance he gets to open a Portal and escapes with it.
Lumine shouts at the place where the Portal vanishes and starts to cry. She couldn't believe that it happened again
Paimon then tries to give her friend some comfort, as best as possible. Comforting Lumine, that there will be another Chance to meet either Dainsleif or Aether.
"Another Chance, for what!? Another chance, to hear that my brother wouldn't want to talk to me, until I travelled through all of Teyvat?" What a great chance it would be." Lumine hisses but not with the intention to offend her, she's just exhausted right now.
While she turns towards her flying friend, she notices the reflection of the sun on her sword. She looks above her and sees the Sun, which looks like it could harm you with all the anger it shows, so completely different like the sun used to be. It could lighten up the day by being so bright and joyful, it would give you so much motivation but that's nowhere to be found, in the Sun she currently looks at.
Lumine just wants to rest, to distress herself from this failure. So she offers Paimon to go to eat something.
Of course Paimon agrees, what a surprise it would be if she would've said no. Both of them trail of, while staying as good as it is in the shadows.
Lumine wouldn't even try to look up, instead she just stares at the ground while silent tears flow down her face.
"Heh didn't believe this task would be done so easily. These were no match for me after all. How sad, I would've enjoyed some good fight." Childe wanders around Narukami Island and gazing through the landscape of this Island.
Just like usual Childe stares at the Sky and notices that the Sun is going down, indicating how late it is already. Maybe he should go back to the City.
From afar he recognises a familiar Voice and gets Closure to it but still stands so far that the Voice wouldn't notice him.
"So I will order us some Miso Soup and some lovely Invigorating Kitty Meal. Just meet me there when you feel like it okay."
He sees Paimon flying in the direction of the City and in the other direction Lumine sitting under a parasol.
On a closer look, he notices how close Lumine's legs are held to her body, her head down and with one hand drawing something?
Childe doesn't like, that she looks like this. So sad... so exhausted.
Childe walks closer to Lumine and notices the drawing of two stick figures holding hands. He recognises that one should resemble a boy with a sun above him and the other person a girl with the moon above her.
"Hey Lumine, that's a cute drawing. Are these two supposed to be the twins sisters above the sky?" He asks her with a more silent tone to comfort her.
"Mhh" Lumine nods silently and puts a strand of hair behind her ear. She slightly looks to the direction the voice came from.
"Oh hey Ajax. Yes, yes these are supposed to resemble the twins above the sky. I... like the story pretty much. It..It reminds me of me and my brother." Lumine mumbles these words with a sad and monotonous Voice with facing down to the drawing.
Of course he is once more shocked by Lumine calling him Ajax but that's a question he can ask her some other time.
"Of you and your brother huh? Are there some clues about his whereabouts? I would gladly like to help with your search, in reward for some battles."
Popping with her tongue the "Nope" while shaking her head.
"Not a single one? I'm sorry Ojou-chan."
"It kind of feels like, something or someone doesn't want us to be reunited. No matter how hard I try." The breaking of her Voice can be visibly heard.
"Lumine please don't say something like this. Of course you two will find eachother again. I believe in you." While talking you could see the visible worried expression on Childe face. He isn't used to see his sparing partner so upset and to be fair, it isn't something he wants to get used to.
Deep down Lumine really appreciates his comfort but right now, she is so stuck in her intrusive thoughts, that it let's her hear his positive words as negative things towards herself.
"Great, between the two of us, you are the only one who believes in me because! I don't think, I will see my brother any time soon." Lumine starts to cry, while looking at Childe. He looks at her bewildered and sad, trying to find a way to taker her pain away.
"I don't want to wait till...till something like a lunar or solar eclipse happens, to see him again. This is just so meaningless, I feel like I wander around through Teyvat without any kind of direction." She throws her hands in the air full of frustrations
Lumine stands up with an angry expression on her face, grabs the parasol behind her, stamps closer the sea and throws it with much anger into the sea. When the parasol falls into the deep ocean the Silent and even surface is broken. On the surface of the water, you could see the clear night sky full of shining stars and the giant full moon between them.
Her whole body is tense and not being able to process the emotions she's currently feeling. Looking down to the ocean, she's sees Childe walking towards her and putting a hand on her shoulder, which gives her a shiver down her spine.
"Hey Lumine." He approaches her with a broken but conforming Voice. "I know you-you are going through a hard time right now but you aren't alone and you will never be. I will always be here for you, I want you to know this. I will help as good as I can to get you back to your brother the same way, I will help the sun prince to get his sister back."
"...hmm I-I really appreciate your help by a lot but even with your help, this is going to be meaningless, it will take an eternity to see him again. Similar to the time, the twin above the sky will need to see eachother again."
Childe still tries to encourage his Comrade, by reminding her how dull the moon was during his childhood in comparison to now. That there will be changes in a positive way, just like it will happen to Lumine and her brother. He huffs to himself "Don't you think so Lune?"
Lune. Lune.... Lumine can't remember the last time, she has been called that. Not to think of that the only person who has ever said this to her.... is her brother. What a surprise this is for her - a perfect surprise.
How..how did you call m-me, Aj-Ajax?" She snickers to his surprise wiping a tear from her eye away. This really lightens up her mood.
"I called you Lune because...because the moonlight reflecting on you, is really making you look really pretty, like the moon herself. I hope you don't mind me calling you like this." He slightly blushes and scratches his hair.
"No, no I don't mind, you calling me like this." She breaths in and out. Then she reminds herself and explains it to Childe that the Stars also belong to the Moon. The Stars also participate in lighten up the night sky.
By this realisation Lumine slowly turns her head to the taller man next to her with a genuine face.
This caught Childe of guard. It's not like, it isn't easy to read the blond lady in the first place. "What? Why are....are you looking at me like-like this? Is everything alright?"
"Yes everything is alright Ajax, I swear. I just realised something about... about...erm like...like you told me how fascinated you are by the moon but I didn't. In fact I-I always am fascinated by the shining ocean full of stars in the night sky." How the stars and the constellations can tell so much about everything and well as I said I... believe the moon and the stars belong to eachother." Lumine's ember eyes are locked to the Harbingers dull blue eyes.
"Wow I didn't know you are interested in this, that's pretty cool. So Lune is there any Constellation you like the most?" He's so genuinely curious about her interest maybe because he didn't really paid much attention to the Stars besides the ones that helps him to get stronger.
"I do have my favourite but it isn't a constellation it's a Star, well the Polarstar. It's the brightest Star of them all..." She starts to glide her hand to Ajax Cheek. ".. it's the one who guides you, if you don't know where you are...or who you are. It guides you to a secure place, a place you can call home, it's always with you through the night and the journey itself and that's something to treasure, don't you think so Étoile Polaire?" With the last sentence she pressed her lips on the tall man's lips in front of her.
Childe is visibly shocked by that sudden action. Of course his mouth works alongside her movements but his mind is trailed somewhere else.
Ojou-chan, what's that supposed to be? Why are your beautiful and soft lips on mine? Is she just too overwhelmed right now and just kisses me because I am the only person around her? Would've she kissed another person or? No back of Ajax, this beautiful person you've seen at least once a week during your sparings, is kissing you right now and...and calls you Etoile Pol..I don't know what this supposed to mean, by calling me like this? I hope you don't want to make a fool out of me with your affection."
He comes back to his mind, when their lips part away and only a trace of her lips is left on his. Lumine also removes her hand from his freckled face and fumbles with her fingers, while having a blushing face on her.
Slightly smiling he rubs his head and asks her what she means by calling him Étoile Polaire.
"Well you see...as I said all this things about my favourite Star, I realised all of this fits you, it is you. You are currently or are always with me, when I'm feeling low and here you are trying to comfort me, making me feel loved and don't make me loose hope in myself." She starts to tear up again but this time, it isn't because of sadness rather of happiness. "Or....in other words, I feel like you are like the Polarstar, my very own Polarstar. Of...course if you want it to be...we could be like the moon and the stars belonging to eachother..."
Oh how touched he is by this Confession of her. He would've never thought that she thinks so much about him and has such a big impact towards her. There is no way he would or could decline her confession.
So Childe answers her with pulling her whole body closer to him and kisses Lumine passionately with his whole heart and soul giving into it. No resistance of her, for him entering her mouth.
When they left each others lips, he could see that his now Girlfriend? understood his answer and both smiling at eachother but not being able to stop because the other won't stop.
Yet it was Lumine who broke the silence between them. She holds his hand and wants him to follow her, directly to the deep blue Ocean.
Childe couldn't think of a reason why Lumine drags him to the Ocean and jokingly asks if it was a suggestion of skinny-dipping.
With much confidence Lumine says to him "Well my dear boyfriend, we are like the moon and the stars and being able to reflect on the surface of the endless Ocean of Teyvat." She exactly knows what she meant with it.
Childe couldn't believe it but she did. They could walk but rather said run on water. When Lumine finally stopped the coast is barely Visible, which made Ajax quite of uneasy. Childe always knows to expect the unexpected but his mind is already handle so many emotions, he doesn't have enough time to process this.
With two soft arms touching his upper arms, he snaps back to reality. Lumine asks him if everything is alright with him and of course everything is alright. Especially when he's able to see her whole body shining because of the mirroring Stars and moon on the ocean. Not to think of that, these objects above are the only source of light there is around them, which makes it even more beautiful.
"Now that you brought us so far away from Narukami Island, that if one of us dies the body could Vanish without a trace, what is your reason for doing this Lune?" Childe jokingly hums at her.
"Just to let you know, you would be the one drowning in this sea, understood? Nevertheless that's not why we are here, I- I thought we could dance under the fully embracing lights of the Lune and the Étoile Polaire and the other million of stars between us and them." Her hand on the back of his head stroking his fluffy hair.
"That's sounds beautiful Lune."
They slowly start to get their bodies Closer to eachother. Ajax laying his big strong and muscular hands on her waist and Lumine her tiny and soft hands on his back. Their eyes locked into eachother and witnessing the beauty of their partner lighten up under the moonlight above them.
This moment feels so secure and so safe, like time and space doesn't matter. All the negative things life had put them on vanishes and are meaningless.
Lumine snugs her head into the chest of her Ajax, it feels like she can rest with him. As comfortable it was Lumine to lay her head into his chest, so comfortable is it for Childe to have her tiny head on his chest. He kind of feels honoured because of it and slightly blushes, he also puts one of his arms around her her shoulders to keep her close.
They still dance on the water with so much trust and comfort in eachother, that they are in sync and nothing could break it.
Not even when Childe looks down to Lumine and notices the big full moon under them and how bright it is. Even when he looks above them, it's a bright White full moon, like he has it never seen before. Normally he would've reached after it but for him there was no reason for it, after all he has his Lumine, his very own moon.
Then he realises it. Lumine is the princess of the moon.
The one he reaches out since his earliest memories.
The one he sets his goal to make her shine again.
The one he wants to reunite her with the sun prince.
But something else has been clarified in his mind.
Are you really fine with it Soleil, no cut that, Aether for making your 'oh so dear sister' so hopeless and sad. Didn't you say how important she is to you? But why is she the one to run after you? Are you fine with that, she seeks comfort and love in another man's heart? Well whatever your answer is, it doesn't matter to me. My goal was, is and always will be to protect her, make her feel secure and lighten her up again, whether she's Lumine or Lune.
His thoughts stopped when his girlfriend mumbles to him but still understandable:
"Thanks Ajax for being with me. For loving me"
"Ojou-chan you don't need to thank me." He kisses her soft forehead and tilts her head towards him, so her cheeky and flustered face can meet the humble and well known mesmerized face of him. "I'm just glad, I can see your beautiful smiling face again under tonight's moonlight and it looks so perfect."
They continue their dance trough the light full Ocean under the prettiest Moon Teyvat has ever seen.
Yet Ajax knows it can always be brighter and he will prove that to whole Teyvat and his very own Moon how beautiful the true or rather perfect Moonlight should look like.
