Will Never Not Worry About You

Summary:

When your boyfriend is a secret agent, dangerous encounters and missions are part of their lifestyle. But, even knowing this, Ryosuke will never not worry about Yuto.

Work Text:

7:00pm

Ryosuke texted Yuto, asking what time he was coming home. Before he left three days ago for a new mission, he told his boyfriend that he would be coming home today. Ryosuke promised him his favorite dish for dinner so that he can look forward to it.

9:00pm

It's been two hours and yet Yuto still hasn't replied. Ryosuke began to worry because this was the first time it has happened. During his missions, there was no communication between them and Ryosuke understands that.

But Yuto always gives a call or a text on the day he promises to come home. Always.

This time, Ryosuke tried to call Yuto. His phone was ringing, but no answer came. With each ring that Yuto isn't picking up, increases the worry and fear in Ryosuke's heart.

11:00pm

Another two hours passed and Yuto still has not responded. Ryosuke has been flooding him with calls and various text messages but everything was left unanswered.

Tears began to well up in Ryosuke's eyes as his mind wanders to every possible scenario that might have happened to Yuto. All the good and bad scenarios. More bad than good.

Ryosuke knows he can't live without Yuto

"Yuto, please pick up. Please." He kept on saying as he called for the nth time. He was sitting in their dining room table with Yuto's favorite dish in front of him, already cold by now. "Please, please, please"

12:00am

A loud beep was heard on the other line. Ryosuke's heart immediately dropped. Yuto's phone now cannot be reached. One by one, Ryosuke's tears started to flow down his cheeks. He dialed Yuto's number again but all that he received was the long beep.

"No, no, no. Please, god. no." He tried again and again and the same results came back every time. "I can't lose you, Yuto. I can't"

Realizing that the phone was now useless, Ryosuke decided to go out and look for Yuto. Where? He also didn't know but, it was better than crying in his apartment and let his anxiety eat him.

It was in the middle of December in Tokyo. Even with a thick jacket, it was still damn cold. The tears that wouldn't stop streaming down his face made it even damn colder for him.

"Yuto, where are you? Please come home. Please." Ryosuke ran and ran. He felt he was going crazy because he had no direction, no plan on what he's doing. He's praying for a miracle that Yuto would just appear right in front of him, right now.

1:30am

Ryosuke's been running around Tokyo for an hour and a half under the harsh winter. He was at his limit. His body knows this, but his mind does not. All he could think about was Yuto and where he was and just praying for him to be safe.

After all the running, he ended back at their apartment. Seeing the building made him cry again because he felt like everything he did was useless, and he achieved nothing. Which honestly was true.

His legs gave up before he could enter the lobby. The pain was too much that he let out a painful cry. The thought of not knowing where Yuto is and how he is, brings greater pain and worry in his heart and mind.

"Ryosuke" a faint voice in the distant called his name. His vision was all blurry with all the tears and fatigue that he thought he was just hallucinating. The figure was running towards him and then everything became clearer.

"Yuto." he wanted to call out to him but his voice was too broken. It took him all his remaining strength to stand up from the ground and run towards him too.

As soon as he was an arm's length from Yuto, he jumped right into his arms and held onto him for his dear life; tears continuing to fall down, same with Yuto.

"Where have you been? Why are you out this late? I was so worried something happened to you. Baby, you're so cold" He cupped Ryosuke's cheeks, rubbing circles, trying to bring back warmth onto them.

"Where have YOU been? I've been calling and texting but you never replied. I got so worried sick that I started looking for you around the city, you dumbass." he was sending strong punches to Yuto's chest, showing him how mad and worried he was.

"Please, let's get inside first because you are ice cold, then I can explain." he tried moving the both of them to get inside the apartment building but Ryosuke stopped his tracks.

"No, Yuto. Tell me now. I have been worrying for the past 6 hours. I want to know now. I don't care how goddamn cold it is." He was shiver and his teeth were chattering but Yuto's answer was more important for him now.

"I'll tell you the short reason now but everything else I will tell you inside, okay."

"Hurry up."

"I lost my phone in the airport when I was going home. I just realized when I already boarded the plane. I borrowed someone's phone and contacted the agency to have everything in it corrupted just in case someone against me stole it and would put you in trouble."

Just like he agreed, after the short explanation, they both went inside their apartment. As soon as they were in, Yuto navigated a shivering Ryosuke towards the fireplace. He also grabbed a bunch of blankets from the cupboard and wrapped Ryosuke with those too.

They were both sitting in front of the fire, Ryosuke sitting in between Yuto's legs as he was hugging him from behind. He also wrapped Ryosuke's hands with his to speed up the warming process.

"I promise you, as soon as I knew my phone was gone, I panicked and went home as fast as I could because I knew you'd be worried sick about me. I am so sorry for putting you in this situation." Ryosuke looked at Yuto and saw his eyes were full of regret and frustration.

Knowing what his job entails, he needed to always be careful and vigilant with his every move. The thought that he was going home to Ryosuke got him careless of a second, and led to this situation right now.

"I believe you. We both didn't want any of this to happen but, I'm just so glad and thankful you are home. That's what matters, okay?" For the first time tonight, Ryosuke showed a genuine smile.

He gave a peck on Yuto's cheek to give him assurance that things are okay now and that he shouldn't be so hard on himself. The gesture made Yuto's heart swell.

He is so lucky to have someone like Ryosuke by his side and accepts him for who he is even with how dangerous his job is.

Ryosuke is the best thing that has ever happened to him and he will do whatever it takes to protect the person he loves.
