The Christmas Nightmare

Summary:

One Christmas night, Drac has a nightmare about Ericka.

Or did he...?

Work Text:

The hotel was decorated for the holidays and the adults wanted the kids to open their presents as soon as possible so that they could be in their room playing with their new presents, all so the adults could drink and have grown up time alone. But Ericka still never showed up. They had the kids open the presents already before Drac went up to check on her…

The door wouldn't budge, which he found very peculiar, especially since he never locked it. He kept trying to force the door open, eventually breaking it off its hinges. He was absolutely stunned at what he saw. Ericka appeared to be levitating, her eyes glowing blue, and her hair appeared to be a wild mess. It seemed almost as if she was possessed. She took notice to Drac standing there and flung a wooden chair at him, he barely dodges it.

“Ericka! Wait! It's me, Drac! What happened to you!?”

But he never got a response. Instead, her hair appeared to have rapidly grown to her will, and she started to choke him with it. He started to struggle with breaking free, but her hair continued to overpower his strength.

“ERICKA!!!” He yelled before quickly sitting up in his bed. He glanced over next to him, and saw Ericka sleeping peacefully next to him. He studied her hair and noticed it's been the same length it always has been. He breathed a sigh of relief, knowing it was all just a terrible nightmare.

In a few more hours, the adults got woken up by the kids. While they were rather upset at waking up so early, they saw it as an opportunity to party, and became very anxious for the kids to open their gifts. Dennis and Winnie knocked on Drac's door and he opened it.

“Papa Drac! It's Christmas! Come on!” Dennis said excitedly for him to come downstairs to watch. Drac glanced back over towards Ericka and noticed her still sleeping peacefully. Still thinking about his nightmare, he was reluctant to leave her like before.

“O-okay.” Drac agreed, following the kids downstairs. The kids opened their presents and headed to their room, just like before. Seeing how his nightmare was becoming a reality, Drac excused himself from the fun and rushed back upstairs to check on Ericka. Only this time, the door opened by itself when all he did was touch the doorknob. He was relieved when he saw that Ericka didn't look possessed, but also felt bad at her experiencing a nightmare too. She was audibly freaking out, even thrashing a little.

“Ericka?” Drac questioned before rushing over to her to try to snap her out of it. “Ericka? Ericka wake up!” She was at the peak of her nightmare and didn't recognize his voice at first, so she grabbed her knife from her table and stabbed him before waking up. Horror became etched on her face and she saw Drac just standing there, holding the knife that was lodged in his chest.

“...No…” She managed to say before Drac collapsed to the floor. “DRAC! NO NO NO!” She began yelling. She started to try to shake him back awake just as the adults started to rush up to investigate what happened.

“Dad…?” Mavis questioned, rushing over to him.

“I'm so sorry...I-I…” Ericka tried to apologize, but she couldn't get the words out, as she began to fear for the worse.

“D-dad... he's... he's gone…. HE'S GONE AND IT'S ALL HER FAULT!” Mavis turned her heartbreak into anger, directing the blame to Ericka.

“What? No... it's not what it looks like! I had a nightmare a-and-”

“Yeah right! You wanted to kill him from the start, you don't fool me. GET OUT! GET OUT OF HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA AND DON'T EVER COME BACK!”

“P-please…” Ericka began pleading, but Mavis wanted nothing to do with it.

“I SAID GET OUT!!!”

Knowing she'd never be able to explain anything or reason with anyone, she ran out of the hotel, crying. The heartbreak. The guilt. The betrayal. How one of the most magical days of the year could be her worst. Losing everyone she's ever loved… it would all haunt her for a long time…
