how long has it been?
oh yeah. a year.
a year since he disappeared.
a year since he turned out like this.

one dead-set on revenge, another wanting to escape.

sometimes people don't realise how much they truly love someone until that person has disappeared.
-
I really don't know what I'm doing, am I?
Half of me could regret writing this, the other might not.

oh well, here I am.

now, I'm not the greatest at writing slow burns, but I'll try my best.
fluff and angst.

Chapter 1: chapter 1. "huh?"

Chapter Text

It's been so long, huh.

I can barely remember what this city looked like... that's what being trapped in an endless void feels like.

Empty white sky everywhere , the only land being a gigantic floating rock platform with other shit behind it . It almost hurt my brain to think about.

In full honesty, I can hardly remember just how long I had been in that hellhole for.

A month ?

A year?

Two years??

I don't know, I don't fucking know.

I just don't want to go back.

Please don't let me go back.

The digidemon placed down his half-empty cola cup on the sleek coffee table, pulling the fuzzy blanket further over his shoulders. The lights were dimmed down heavily, for he refused to remain in complete darkness.

Exhaustion tugged at his blank white eyes, however no matter how hard Agoti tried he simply could not fall asleep. Perhaps it was the sugary cola, or the mere memory of that Godforsaken place. Even with his terrible memory and visualising skills, he could clearly remember the layout and emptiness of the void, the infinite low buzzing that hung in the air.

Whenever he closed his eyes for a mere second, he saw the void.

Whenever he was unoccupied, the void filled his mind.

There truly was no escape, huh?

"Get some sleep, son, okay? You must be very tired after that ordeal.."

Solazar's voice repeated in his head again, as if it was taunting him mercilessly for his lack of will to sleep. Unfortunately the echoing voice of his father only irritated him more.

Fucking Hell. I give up.

Agoti stood up, the blanket sliding off his shoulders and onto the black leather couch. He was far too awake and alert to fall asleep now. Pulling the neck of his hoodie further around him, the digidemon quietly left the lounge and stepped into the hallway, carefully shutting the door behind him.

He could already hear his father criticising him for leaving again, especially after that traumatic event.

"You don't learn, do you? What if they took you away again?"

Silence.

Right now, all Agoti wanted was some fresh air.

He double-checked his phone was in his pocket, departing once he felt it was there.

A gust of cold wind immediately engulfed him as he opened the front door. The street was hushed and dark, illuminated by golden streetlights and the occasional house window. The road lacked the usual cars driving down, all of them parked at their respective driveway.

Sighing as he shoved both hands in his hoodie pocket, Agoti shuffled down the sidewalk. Every now and then, a squirrel would dart from bush to tree, rustling the leaves.

His mind began to wander elsewhere from the dreaded void, much to his relief. He thought about making music with his brother, spending time with his family– as cheesy as it sounds– and even learning the guitar.

Then, as if a video tape had gotten stuck, one memory lodged itself in his mind.

A friend.

Someone he knew very well.

He had disappeared shortly before he had, yet he never found out how or why. It was perplexing to think about.

Slight sorrow tugged at his chest, feeling a pang of loneliness.

He missed his friend.

He missed him a lot.

Besides Aldryx and Solazar, he had been his first proper friend. Not just some random person that decided to strike up conversation with him whenever he toured with his brother.

Who was he dating again? Agoti remembered him mentioning her brown chestnut hair, a stupidly vibrant red dress that she adored.

... Why did she sound familiar?

The digidemon blinked away the thought, passing it off as déjà vu. At the same time, he remembered his friend talking about his skepticism around her in the later stages of their relationship.

He talked about how she was beginning to look bored whenever the two hung out.

Agoti couldn't help but wonder something...

Did she have something to do with it?

Damn , I miss you .

I really wanna find you, I do.

I just... don't know where to start.

You could be anywh–

"Ah!!"

Having been lost in his train of thought and memories, the digidemon failed to look where he was going, walking directly into another person and knocking their shoulder. Agoti immediately stood back to apologise.

"Sorry dude, I wasn't really paying attention-!" He was biting back the rising feeling of humiliation, finally noticing the appearance of the supposed stranger.

He donned a blue zip up hoodie with a white shape on either side of the zip, navy blue jeans and black sneakers with yellow laces. The most surprising feature was the sharp beige goat skull floating where his head should've been, two large horns either side. A simple cap sat on top, shadowing the piercing yellow eyes that seemed to glimmer in the dark.

He was shocked by the voice that finally replied.

"да, it's fine."

It was deep and quiet with an obvious Russian accent. Agoti almost immediately recognised it.

"... Tabi?"
