January 10th, 2022~

Wooyoung drops the bomb on him when they're in San's bed together after a long day of practise, lying down side-by-side and scrolling idly through their phones.

"Let's get married," he announces.

It's said with as much carefree nonchalance as one would have while discussing the weather. In Wooyoung's case, it's the same tone he uses when he tells San they need to go to the studio or the practise room on any benign day.

San drops his phone.

"What?"

Wooyoung puts his phone on the table beside the bed, and rolls over, so he's facing San while San is still lying on his back, looking at the bunk above, "Let's get married. You and me."

San frowns, "Wooyoung-ah-"

"No, hear me out," Wooyoung pokes San's chest, "Both of us want to get married. We know that. But we're also idols, which makes it kind of complicated. So why don't we just...forget the fancy wedding and months of planning and millions of won blown for a ceremony and just...get married on our own?"

"You- you're saying you want to elope?"

Wooyoung smiles, pecking San's cheek, "Yeah, let's elope."

"But...we can't just...run away and get married, can we? It isn't like us going for a couple's trip last year. We can't just tell fans we're going to our hometowns and get on a plane together. Marriage is...serious."

Wooyoung pouts at him, "I'm serious about you and me," he says with nothing but pure conviction, throwing San off for a brief moment, "Aren't you?"

San wraps his arm around his lover, "Oh, sweetheart, of course I am," he says, rubbing Wooyoung's back gently.

Wooyoung hums, the petname making him smile, "Then why can't we just do it?"

"It's...I don't know, Young-ah. Doesn't feel like it's that simple," San says, "Yeah, we love each other, and yes, it's been long enough for us to know that this is it, but... we're still idols. It's a surreal dream to get married in a world like ours and make it out alive. We'll get ripped apart by our own fans."

Wooyoung makes a sound that's between an indignant whine and a huff, "I think we could do it in secret. No one has to know except our members and our families. We don't even have to tell the company."

"When do you want to do this? Shouldn't we wait to tell our families?"

Wooyoung shifts, and pulls San until they're both lying on their sides and facing each other, legs tangled in between, "What if I already spoke to your parents?"

"You what?!"

Wooyoung giggles, "I asked your parents if I could propose, but...you know, clearly I didn't plan it at all. I wasn't going to do it until we were back home from the tour, I don't even have a ring yet, but I just... I had to ask, and now seemed like a time as good as any other."

"My parents said yes?"

Wooyoung scoffs, "Of course they did, do you think I would've asked you otherwise?"

San laughs, and leans in for a chaste peck, tickled by Wooyoung's demeanour, "You're so cute," he coos.

Wooyoung rolls his eyes, "Yeah, sure," he then pulls San's hands into his, threading their fingers together, "So? Are you in?" He looks at him expectantly, eyes wide in anticipation.

San purses his lips, "Hm...I don't exactly feel like I've been proposed to, you know? What if I say yes and you were kidding the entire time?"

Wooyoung deadpans, "Really? You assume now is the best time for me to joke around? About us getting married?"

San shrugs, "Maybe."

Wooyoung groans like San is immensely frustrating, "You're an ass, you know that?" He untangles their hands, and pulls away despite San's grabby hands and weak apologies directed at him, getting off the bed, "So," he says with an air of finality.

San rolls on his side to peer at Wooyoung, "What are you doing?"

Wooyoung grins, and then proceeds to get down on one knee.

San gapes at him, sitting up in shock, "Oh my god, are you-"

"Shh," Wooyoung shushes, "Let me talk," he takes in a deep breath, and continues, lifting his hands and taking San's left hand in both of his, "Choi San, the love of my life, the axis of my world, the San to my Woo, will you do me the great honour of marrying me and making me the happiest man in the world?" He kisses the back of San's palm for...effect, and he feels nervous despite already knowing what San's answer is going to be.

San smiles wider than the milky way galaxy, his eyes crinkling into happy little crescents, and he squeezes Wooyoung's hands with an eager nod, "Yes, I'll marry you."

Wooyoung shrieks happily, and pounces on San for a tight hug, launching them both back on the bed from excitement. They cling to each other and roll around in fits of laughter- barely any space on the bed for both of them- till they're in the centre, arms around each other and cheeks pressed together, breathing a little laboured from the roughhousing.

"So...that's it? We're engaged?" San asks, hooking one leg around Wooyoung.

Wooyoung giggles, slightly turning his head and pressing a loud, shamelessly affectionate kiss to San's cheek , "I guess we are. And I promise you'll get the ring as soon as we get back after the tour" They're leaving for Chicago the day after, so of course Wooyoung doesn't have time to go ring-shopping before.

"I'm counting on it," San says.

"Love you, Sannie," Wooyoung croons right into his ear.

San chuckles, "Love you too, my Wooyoungie."

San is still a little scared about what he's just agreed to, but that doesn't mean that the thought of marrying Wooyoung makes him any less happy.

So he embraces the man in his arms a little tighter, and promises himself to try as hard as he can to return all the love and happiness he's received to his boyf- no, his fiancé.

It feels nice, to think of Wooyoung as his fiance.

He knows it'll feel even nicer when he becomes San's husband.

He can't wait.

Present day~

"San-ah!"

San braces himself for impact as Wooyoung barrels into his and Mingi's hotel room and promptly sits himself down on San's lap, earning a peck on the lips, "Hey, Wooyoungie."

"So I was thinking-"

"That's terrifying, but go on."

Wooyoung huffs, "Rude. Anyway, I wanted to ask you something, and since Mingi's gone off to work I thought I could talk to you about it now."

"Mm?" San wraps his arms around his lover, idly bouncing his thighs and rocking Wooyoung on his lap like a baby.

"You know how we wanna get married right?"

San nods, "Yes...?"

Wooyoung bites his lip, "So, um, it isn't legal in Korea yet, so I thought- maybe...I don't know, if you want to- we could...get married here?"

San stops moving his legs, and his eyes widen, "Here?"

"Whild- while we're in the US," Wooyoung suggests nervously, "I just- I don't know...if you think it's too soon, we can wait, that's fine, but-"

"No, let's do it."

Wooyoung freezes, a slow smile spreading across his beautiful face, "...really?"

"Yeah, let's get married."

Wooyoung looks at him with sparkling eyes and blushing cheeks, "Is it weird if I cry? 'Cause I think I might." His bottom lip trembles, and he catches it between his teeth.

San smiles fondly, moving his hands to cup Wooyoung's cheeks, "I love you."

Wooyoung chokes on his next words and throws his arms around San, burying his head in his neck, "Oh, Sannie," he whispers, irrationally breathless.

San rubs his back, cooing into his ear sweetly, "Don't cry, sweetheart," he feels wetness on his neck, and strokes the back of Wooyoung's head with one hand, "Shh, c'mere, give me a kiss."

Wooyoung lifts his head and accepts a soft kiss from his fiancé, pressing their foreheads together as he pulls away, "Fuck, San, you make me so happy."

San smiles, and wipes away Wooyoung's tears with his thumbs, "I'm glad. You make me happy too."

Wooyoung sniffles, "You wanna do it tonight? We have some time off."

San shifts to place one hand on Wooyoung's covered thigh, thumbing over the area that carries their most precious words, "Yeah, let's do it."

"Fuck, this is so crazy," Wooyoung breathes in awe, "I can't believe we're getting married tonight."

San hugs Wooyoung to his chest, "Me neither."

"I'll trade rooms with Mingi and we can stay here together for tonight," Wooyoung whispers.

San giggles, trailing his lips over to Wooyoung's earlobe, "It's our wedding night, tonight."

"Well, I can't make you a baby, but I'll let you carry me over the threshold," Wooyoung jokes.

San squeezes his eyes shut, and squeaks in laughter, trailing butterfly kisses over Wooyoung's exposed skin.

I'm getting married.

*****

"Holy shit, we did it."

Wooyoung grins, looking up at San, "We did."

San almost trips over his feet as he carries Wooyoung into the hotel room, both of them laughing breathlessly at how ridiculously unbelievable all of this is. They stumble into San's hotel room and Wooyoung shuts the door behind them as he lands on his feet, still in shock after everything that's happened today

San turns abruptly and presses Wooyoung's back against the door, leaning in and nosing at his cheek, moving to whisper in his ear, "Are we really married?"

Wooyoung hugs him around the waist and sighs deeply, letting San nuzzle and snuggle into him like a kitten, "We're really married," he confirms, "And it feels amazing."

San hides his smile in Wooyoung's neck, peppering butterfly kisses all over his smooth skin, "I love you so much."

Wooyoung giggles, "That tickles."

"You ever have second thoughts about me?" San whispers.

Wooyoung shrugs, "Not since we made it official," he says honestly, "You're it for me."

"Aw," San trails kisses all the way to Wooyoung's lips, but avoids them, instead pressing his lips everywhere else he can reach- his cheeks, his temples, his chin, the little mole under his eyes- "Amicus..."

"Ad-"

"-Aras," San finishes, crowding Wooyoung against the door and finally kissing him on the mouth, swallowing Wooyoung's pleased sigh and holding him by the waist, losing himself into the deep kiss.

"San..." Wooyoung moans as they pull away for breath, eyes locked, San's gaze as intense as it is when they perform.

"Can I take you to bed?" The question that San poses isn't vague, dripping with sensual intent.

Wooyoung smiles a little, and he leans in to breathe the words into San's ear, "Make love to me, San-ah."

So San does.
