Work Text:
Luo Wenzhou wasn’t the type to be distracted at work, not that he was any different today. But if you looked carefully, you’d see the originally serious captain actually being a little listless and anticipation appearing on his face from time to time. Like he couldn’t wait to get off work. Why might that be?
His birthday! Now, it’s not like he’s the type to make birthdays a big deal when it comes to celebrating his own. But, how could he not ever since his life was brightened up by another carefree, extravagant individual?
Specially when you wake up with a kiss so sweet and a soft murmur of a promise before being sent off to work-
How could you not pass the day without wondering what this beloved of yours had up his sleeves?
A neat set of suits were delivered at his office by noon, by request of & chosen by Fei Du ofcourse, Luo Wenzhou was asked (Very affectionately) the other night to wear suits before getting off work.
Luo Wenzhou laughed and agreed to indulge his little whims.
He wore a white silk shirt with a sleek navy blue suit that enunciated his built and slim waist so perfectly. A midnight blue tie with glittery undertone, a silver tie pin to complete the look.
He sighed mentally with a weighing affection for Fei Du, he truly knew every little detail about Luo Wenzhou. Not to mention this set was bought without him being there in person.
He was almost finished as he brushed his hair back using some gel, giving himself squinted looks, judging so his charm wasn’t lacking anywhere.
Tao Ran caught him doing it for the umpteenth time as he sighed and smacked on his back, “You look good enough already. Stop acting like a teenager.”
Lan Qiao peeked her head out to see and shamelessly blew out a whistle with a thumbs up,
“Oh wow captain! President Fei will surely be swept off of his feet by that look. Not every day do we see a Normal Luo Wenzhou in Suits! It’s quite the cause of celebration in itself.”
Luo Wenzhou made a face at her, shooing her off, which of course she didn’t heed to as she spoke, “Just enjoy your date Captain. Today’s your birthday. Relax. Stop stressing little things. President Fei will think you’re an angel sent from heaven even if you went na.. Even if you went there in a sweatshirt.”, good thing she remembered to reign in at the perfect time. After all, this was her superior she was talking to, she bit her lips in amusement though.
In any case, after getting off work, Luo Wenzhou felt as if he was never as much disappointed and anxious in his life as he was at that moment.
Where was Fei Du? Why was Lu Jia waiting for him in front of the station? Did something happen? A tornado of various scenarios flew past his brain in a few seconds as he approached the man.
“Yo captain~”, singsonged the man. Luo Wenzhou nodded, a tiny frown appearing on his face, “What’s wrong?”
Lu Jia blinked a few times, finally catching on he gave a dry chuckle, “Wrong? Nothing’s wrong. I was told to pick you up. President Fei asked me since….since he got held up by something at work I guess?”
If Luo Wenzhou wasn’t a man of honor, he’d pout like a little baby on-spot. Not that you would know if he was pouting inwardly or not.
He sighed and got inside the car, grumbling in his mind as he did, what could've been so important that he couldn't hold off for the next day? Not even a text? Was it that abrupt?
Although, he knew he couldn't blame Fei Du. Being the president of a giant company was no easy task sometimes. But that didn't mean he couldn't feel a little down by the action.
He fished out his phone from his pocket, wondering if it’d be appropriate to call at this moment? He was clearly busy with something right now, right? What if he’s in an important meeting?
With a sigh, he decided to be a sensible lover for once and very considerately decided not to bug him.
Besides, he can just get his fill from it later anyway.
With the thought in mind how he would make his Fei Shir pay, he put away his phone.
Lu Jia started the car and drove off opposite the direction of their apartment.
Luo Wenzhou finally asked, “Where are we going?”
Lu Jia chuckled, “I can’t say…” Luo Wenzhou raised a brow incredulously, “He forbade you to?”
The man hummed a little with pursed lips, “It’s not that he forbade me to. It’s that even I never went there, the address that was sent to me. Guess even you, Boss, will have to wait and see.”
"That brat…" Luo Wenzhou let out a sigh inwardly.
After half an hour, they were almost leaving the city, the busy roads left behind. They seemed to be driving towards the mountain areas by now.
Interesting. What kind of restaurant Fei Du picked out anyway?
This was something he thought as one of the reasons why Fei Du sent someone else to drive him- a birthday celebration at an extravagant restaurant. But, now that they were getting outside the city…
Luo Wenzhou sneaked a glance at the man who was driving.
A detective’s intuition perking up and natural to consider under these circumstances no matter how much you trust a person.
He straightened up as he said, “Say, Lu Jia, are you sure you got the right direction?”
Lu Jia seemed to consider, “Well, I did indeed get the text from President Fei right after he spoke to me via voicemail.”
Luo Wenzhou looked outside.
The scenery wasn’t too suspicious just yet. It was an open mountain road.
After another fifteen minutes or so, they seemed to have entered a residential area. Bright yellow street lamps on one side of the clean, damp road, green bushes with indistinguishable colored flowers adorning the other side led to a calm and quiet block. From the looks of it, it seemed like one of those areas owned by the rich tycoons.
Only one or two cars passed them by as they drove through the area.
Few minutes later, they reached their destination.
Where the car stopped, it was in front of a two storied building.
Brightly lit golden lights illuminating the place, few small red and blue street lamps as decorations and not many sounds except some insects celebrating the dark of the night, it was quite a pleasant place if he were to be honest.
But right now, he had far more important matters to look into.
He dialed Fei Du’s number.
It took only one ring before it was picked up.
That, he really didn’t expect. Not letting the surprise be too distinguishable in his voice, he spoke calmly, “Fei Du, where are you? Where was I brought to?”
Fei Du seemed to instantly perk up as he spoke gleefully, “Ah Shixiong you’re already here?? Get in! The password to the main door is 31758. Then Follow the staircase on your left as you enter. Then walk up the second floor corridor to the… You’ll see!
Is Lu Jia still here? Tell him his work is done and he’ll be rewarded exceptionally later as promised.” he spoke calmly but almost too excitedly.
“So this wasn’t a restaurant? Whose place is this???”
Luo Wenzhou, getting more curious by the second, nodded and gave him an okay before telling Lu Jia what he was told to.
Luo Wenzhou then entered the “Suspicious” looking building as instructed. He felt like if it wasn’t Fei Du’s delightful voice, he would think he’s here to do business with a suspicious party. He puffed out a breath, feeling too out of place in this extravagant place in his uniform.
When he entered through the front door, the main hall of the building seemed quite vacant. Few fresh pink flower petals here and there, red small candles in various shapes at every corner and a very beautiful and soothing scent invaded his senses as he entered and walked up the staircase.
As he reached the second floor, he found the corridor led to two opposite directions. One of which seemed more conspicuous. Decorated nicely, it led to an open space ahead from where you could see dazzling yet not unbearable golden lights lit up and nice & soft music playing to match the night mood. Now he understood what Fei Du meant when he said “You’ll see.”
He walked over in that direction and sure enough, it was an open space, most likely where you could hold a huge party. On one corner a beautifully made crystal fountain and some flower pots, decorative tropical trees were placed. And on one corner, was a nice shaded pavilion that had some pretty golden & blue butterflies for decoration. A nice touch for a romantic night indeed.
He wasn’t much interested in showy stuff, but that didn't mean he couldn’t enjoy a beautiful mood and scenery. Surely, the planner had good taste.
On his right side, he finally noticed the most anticipated person of the day!
Donned in a similar dark colored suit with golden accented patterns at the curves of the collars with a white silk shirt underneath and a dark blue tie, he seemed really otherworldly through Luo Wenzhou’s rose-colored lenses.
With Fei Du’s hair brushed back and…
Why is it that his charm seemed to have rocketed high with those dark gloves to highlight his long, thin fingers?
Forget everything!
He stalked up to the person who was putting down some last minute utensils on a tastefully decorated table.
Luo Wenzhou instantly seized the person’s wrist and pulled towards himself.
With a pretentious angered voice he called, “Fei Du! What’s the meaning of this? Why do I feel like you actually didn’t have any important business to attend to??”
For a moment, Fei Du seemed stunned with that question before bursting into laughter, “ Shixiong...Shixiong.. Of all the questions you could’ve asked, that’s what you asked? Hahahha..”
He was supporting himself against Luo Wenzhou as he laughed, “Are you angry I didn’t pick you up?”
Luo Wenzhou very indignantly grumbled, “Surely you could’ve driven us here, seeing how free you've been.......”
Well, if he wanted another few extra moments to spend with the love of his life on this special day, who could blame him, right?
Fei Du leaned up to kiss on Luo Wenzhou’s cheek, “Well I truly had some last minute issues to deal with here.”
Then he lamented, with a smile staring up at him, “I’ll make it up to you. Promise!”
Then he made a show of checking out Luo Wenzhou from head to toe and smirked as his hands slid downwards by the captain’s tempting waist, “My my, Shixiong’s charm went beyond my expectation, looking like the most handsome man on the planet. This really suits you.”
Luo Wenzhou chuckled at the compliment as his knuckles caressed across Fei Du’s cool cheek, “Being complimented by the most tempting man on the planet, I’m overjoyed”, then he bent down to bite those thin, smiling lips.
A nice and satisfyingly passionate kiss, a taste of the love of his life was exactly what he needed right now after a long day of exhausting anticipation, his initially cool body temperature soon warmed up.
After a few long moments of savoring each other, as they slowly parted, Luo Wenzhou felt much at ease and looped an arm around his beloved’s waist as he looked around first, “What is this place? Did you rent it for the night?”
Fei Du seemed to be silent for a moment before smiling at him, “Before I answer that question, let’s go do what a birthday boy is Supposed to do. Come come!”
Then he led the amused “birthday boy” to the side of the roof.
Finally Luo Wenzhou realized this is where the foods were placed. And a medium sized cake in the middle, decorated simply, yet beautifully. And some huge plates covered with lids. Probably enough for the two of them, but the menu seemed pretty vast.
Fei Du beamed at him, “Happy Birthday, baobei!!”
Luo Wenzhou huffed an amused breath before leaning down to peck on his temple affectionately.
After a few moments of playing around with each other, taking a bunch of snaps with the cake and of each other, Fei Du sneaking in some candid shots of Luo Wenzhou too as they cut the cake, they finally settled back on tables with dishes on their plates.
As they ate and conversed, Fei Du told him there was no waiter to serve them currently because he thought it'd be far more relaxing for Luo Wenzhou to enjoy the special night.
Under Luo Wenzhou's raised brow, President Fei finally relented, "Fine, I wanted this place all to ourselves. To only have Me to look at you and serve you~", his cheeky smile and honeyed voice turning a little suggestive as one of his gloved digit slid softly over Luo Wenzhou's skin,
"Ofcourse one of the reasons was to bring you out of your everyday life, you seem so worn out these days. But don't worry, I'll call in room service tomorrow for the cleanups."
Luo Wenzhou had no objection ofcourse. A romantic environment, under the starry vast starry sky and it's just the two of them, how could he complain?
Even if he's used to being in crowds, being a people's person, everyday's the same old boring extroverted interactions can surely tire out a man. In that regard, Fei Du actually made the right choice by reserving the night for just the two of them.
The dinner was lavish, as expected of Fei Du. Leave it to him for an over the top dinner plan, he won’t disappoint you. By now, Luo Wenzhou wasn’t too surprised anymore.
They ate and conversed, mundane talks to flirtations, spoon feeding the other to their heart’s content, banters- they were off into their own little bubbles. To any onlookers, it would be quite an envious sight.
Once they were finished, Fei Du led the captain to the pavilion after he changed the tune to a softer one, smiling gleefully as he did so.
Once they stood there, Fei Du curtsied like a gentleman, with one hand behind his back and the right one extended, “May this humble one have the honor to have this dance, Captain Luo?” His eyes glinted behind the rimless glasses as he looked up at the star of tonight’s show.
Luo Wenzhou pfft-ed as he took the hand in his own, feeling the cool skin of the man who, apparently decided to treat him like a Prince Charming tonight, “So cheesy tonight aren’t you, Fei Shir…”
Fei Du smiled in return with a whisper, “As you deserve to be treated as, Shixiong.”
They danced, swayed and twirled slowly, side to side and sometimes their faces mere centimetres apart. Both smiling and looking at each other, taking in the moment as they danced. Fei Du slightly tipped his chin up at Luo Wenzhou, as if asking for a kiss.
Luo Wenzhou obliged, kissing fervently against those honeyed lips.
The music in the background giving off an illusion that the two were in their own little romance film.
Their tongues entwined, lovingly, softly yet hungrily. Their cool lips soon warmed, dancing against each other, pouring out the love that couldn’t be expressed just by mere words.
As they parted after a while, Fei Du’s smile seemed the brightest of all tonight.
They were still swaying slowly in each other’s embrace.
He whispered breathlessly after a few moments, “Oh Shixiong… sometimes this overwhelms me so. I fear I might someday go astray and want to keep you only for myself to see and possess.”
Luo Wenzhou let out an amused chuckle.
Fei Du then looked up at him, “Shixiong, you asked me what this place was, right? I’ll tell you now.”
Luo Wenzhou nodded, motioning he was all ears.
The youngman then spoke steadily, “This house, I bought it for you. For us. Well, it’s under your name though. I wanted to give you a birthday present, but along with it something else too. So, I thought of buying this house for you. The scenery is nice and refreshing, away from the bustling city. It’s a perfect place, don’t you think?”
Luo Wenzhou, not very gentlemanly, had his eyes bulged at what he just heard.
He stammered, “F...Fei Du?? What the hell??”
Fei Du chuckled at the reaction, a sudden mischief flashed in his eyes.
Then he smiled, the kind that curves up the corners of his beautiful peach blossom eyes and yet makes the smile appear a little dangerous, “Don’t you remember, Shixiong?” He slowly crowded into Luo Wenzhou’s personal space and tilted his chin up a little, “I told you back then, I would kidnap you and lock you up for life. Won't let anyone see you, keep you only to myself? Do you remember? You didn’t believe me. This is where it happens.” His slender, cold fingertip ghosted along Luo Wenzhou’s sharp jawline as he softly whispered, tauntingly, ''You should be worried… it will be an agonizing life…you'd wish to run away..."
The charming smile still on his face as he observed his shixiong’s reactions.
Luo Wenzhou, momentarily seemed to be dumbfounded at his Feishir’s pretentious act.
A sudden burst of cool spring air rushed through the space between them, making a strand of Fei Du’s long brushed back hair fall out of place with a gentle sway. Luo Wenzhou watched, oddly breathless, as the strands fluttered across Fei Du’s forehead. Under the golden light of the pavilion, Fei Du seemed even more enticing with his act of a sadistic, possessive lover.
The captain, weak to the knees for dangerous beauty, had to admit, it added up to Fei Du’s irresistible charm.
Luo Wenzhou let out a small breathless laugh, deciding to go along with the act, "Worried? Suddenly I find the idea actually very interesting.
Not having to go work, not listening to a bunch of old people coming in to complain for the littlest inconvenience sometimes, not having to do paperworks, not getting stabbed or hit, not worrying about the one at home sneakily finishing up the wines. Sounds perfect to me."
He leaned down a little and brought his hands together as if offering them up to his lover to cuff him, "Do as you will, President Fei.'', then seemingly getting an idea of where Fei Du's coming from, he added, ''I won't be like your mom."
Then after a moment while Fei Du was staring up at him with a dubious look, Luo Wenzhou raised a brow with a smirk, "I wouldn’t be Luo Wenzhou if I didn't know you better by now. I know you don't have the heart. Brat... all talks and bluffs. Think you can fool your Shixiong with this amateur act?"
Then he stroked the young man's temple as he whispered, "I am not your mom. And you are not your father. So what're you afraid of? Me, running away in fear of a scratch that's least likely to happen? Dream on!"
Fei Du laughed out loud this time as he grabbed the hands that were offered to him, "Shixiong really knows my heart too well. How scary…"
Then he smiled at the beautiful man in front of him, holding one hand as he placed a tender kiss over Luo Wenzhou's neck. Seeing the Adam’s apple bobbed, he felt it was satisfying.
He whispered, "You're right Shixiong. I don't have the heart to. I'm not Fei Chengyu. All thanks to you."
Fei Du looked up at him, beaming as he spoke, “This will be….Our house. A place for a new start and new memories. Doesn’t that sound romantic?”, a chuckle escaped his thin lips, his eyes a little glazed, “ In this house, we would grow old. One day we would bathe in warm sunlight on the balcony and think about our fulfilling youth. Maybe we would have a few feline grandchildren too by then. “
Luo Wenzhou was transfixed as he stared at the man in front of him. Fei Du paused for a moment before smiling down, “To lock you up? Shixiong, I love you too much to do such a thing.”
Fei Du's voice was growing solemn as he slowly lowered himself, getting on his knees with his hand still holding Luo Wenzhou's. The captain seemed to be shaken for a moment, totally not expecting this move.
What was Fei Du going to do???
Surely not…..
His hyperactive brain worked too fast even for himself to comprehend, one of which wasn’t so innocent. Fei Du continued on as he kneeled, “You’ve been there for me all these times. I drifted alone, waited for you to leave once I finally showed you what was underneath,”
Right then Luo Wenzhou pressed tightly on Fei Du’s shoulder as he grunted, “Fei Du!”, but the man on his knees continued, “You never did. You always, Always went beyond my expectation. You’ve cared for me, even when I wasn’t looking. Showed me ways I didn’t think I could possibly take on my own. I didn’t think spring would come. Shixiong, you’re my spring. You deserve the very best, deserve to be celebrated.”
At this point, Fei Du brought out a little red velvet box. Inside sat a platinum ring, with tiny diamonds skillfully engraved on its body that was sparkling under gold and blue light of the pavilion. It sure didn’t look like any random cheap ring!
Fei Du smiled up at his beloved, “Back then I was unprepared and could only give you that pathetic excuse of a ring.” For some reason, Luo Wenzhou just couldn’t help it and blurted out as if he took offense on the wire ring’s behalf, “It wasn’t! It was very precious and I found it cute!”
Fei Du chuckled at the answer, he knew how Luo Wenzhou actually always kept it on his person at all times, “I know. But allow me to properly tie you up this time, alright? I did say I was going to trap you with me. Luo Wenzhou, I promise you a lifetime with me, to treasure you, cherish you at every waking moment….
Would you do me the honor of marrying you and bind you for a lifetime? And in the next life? And the next after?”
Luo Wenzhou was no maiden, but he couldn’t help but be swayed with such a cheesy proposal. For someone like Fei Du to have his heart laid out into the open like that was no small matter and asking for marriage just as seriously, Luo Wenzhou’s female version would be in tears. He also felt a little proud of being able to change Fei Du's vulnerable feelings towards commitment to this extent. A promise, an initiative from someone who's been hurt and broken, someone who's learnt to love, it's worth innumerable.
He choked on his words for a moment before grabbing Fei Du up by shoulder and pressed his lips deeply but chastely onto the others, letting his action speak volumes before he chuckled breathlessly, “You brat!! Outdoing me every time! What am I to do with you, huh? Of Course I’ll marry you!”
The smile that curved Fei Du’s beautiful peach blossom eyes into crescent moons, Luo Wenzhou thought this young man would really be the death of him.
Fei Du very diligently and devotedly slipped the ring on Luo Wenzhou’s finger and looked up at him with a smile, "Happy Birthday, Shixiong."
Luo Wenzhou wouldn’t call himself too emotional, but at that moment of tenderness and gazing into the eyes that held the world for him, he couldn't suppress the raw emotion that bubbled up in him. The urge to hide and protect this lover of his away from the demons that lurk in the dark, made him feel choked up in emotions.
His voice was a little hoarse as he pulled Fei Du into his arms and whispered, "I love you, Fei Du! I love you! I'll marry you. I'll give you everything you want. I'll be the person that you can rely on, the person that makes you the happiest. Count on me, okay…."
He then leaned in to capture the smiling, sweet lips that just promised him a lifetime.
After a few minutes of savoring each other, they felt the pressing need to take it further into the bedroom.
As they entered the master room, with a quick look Luo Wenzhou realized even the room was made up with motives in mind.
It had a queen bed, curtains drawn and the dimly lit table lamps creating a very stimulating environment. There were also some scented candles lit up to set the mood.
As soon as they entered the room, Fei Du reclaimed his Shixiong's lips with renewed vigor.
This time both of them had urgency in their actions as they pawed and tugged at each other's clothes. They kissed fervently as they tumbled onto the cushioned bed.
Their kiss broke off for a moment as Luo Wenzhou smiled and looked down at a disheveled Fei Du in his arms.
Truly a sight to behold.
He realized once more how much he'll never get used to this sight no matter how many times he'd seen him like this.
Staring into his love and lust filled eyes, Fei Du whispered, their lips almost touching as he did so, "Ah Shixiong… As the Third gift of the night, I decided to give you Myself. How does that sound, hm? Why don't you unwrap the gift and do however you please...Tonight is yours to savor..." he teasingly bit down on Luo Wenzhou's neck.
Luo Wenzhou shivered at the close proximity of Fei Du's dazed, seductive voice by his ear.
He instantly pinned Fei Du down by his wrists, a glint in his eyes as the corner of his lips turned upwards. Seeing such a mischievous look, Fei Du had goosebumps all over him in anticipation.
It certainly would be a long night.
But before he could take back what he had just said, Luo Wenzhou leaned down by his ear to whisper, "Shixiong is currently on cloud nine to have such a priceless gift. Now, Don't regret your offer, darling~''
He's going to piously savor the night. He truly was far too happy tonight. What could be a better Birthday gift than having the love of his life in his arms, a promise of a lifetime and unconditional love from the most cherished person in your life?
He bent down for a tender kiss to pour out his overflowing emotions.

“The port where the lone boat is docked,
A ray of light shines through the window
Being next to you, the scar on my heart has healed,
The crashing waves witness the past where we’ve lost and won;
Together with the time’s passing, forever and ever,
A lone boat drifting along the mist carries me home.”
Happy Birthday, Luo Wenzhou. Thank you for being the most perfect man to ever have lived. To give this man himself and a whole property as a birthday gift, he felt it still was just too little. No amount of gifts would be enough to show his love and affection for the man who had pulled him up from that abyss.
Well, he has a whole lifetime and beyond to share with the love of his life.
