Anything but Normal

Summary:

The days upon days of torrential rain and wind during the height of Yavin’s monsoon season presents Rey with something she simply isn’t prepared for.

Notes:

For the Damerey Fic Challenge prompt: “I was not built for this weather.”

Work Text:

This is simply not fair.

She wants to be outside. She could be training in the fresh air, sinking her hands into the rich soil of her garden, or even meditating—as much as she hates to sit still—underneath the Force tree.

But no, she’s stuck inside. She’s made herself breakfast, then lunch, and more than a few snacks. She’s reviewed the texts, danced with Beebee, polished D-O to a shine, even chatted with Finn via holo.

She doesn’t know what else to do. She wasn’t made to sit still.

“You’re pacing again.”

She turns from the window and the view of the rain and the wind-blown trees, and scowls at Poe. “What else am I supposed to do?”

Poe, relaxed on the sofa, datapad in hand, simply asks “Ever read A Wrinkle in Hyperspace?”

She shakes her head, and Poe’s only reply was to pat the seat next to him.

The scowl melts off her face as she sits between his legs and rests on his broad chest, his warmth infusing her the way only he and the sun ever could.

Normally, she couldn’t bear to sit still.

But Poe, and moments like these, were anything but normal.
