Chapter Text
~Satan's POV~
The moonlight shone through the closed window and lit up the corner of my room where books surrounded me. Books on aging, health, the secret to a long life. I was buried under the painful truth of each of those books. My eyes flew over each page as I desperately tried to find an explanation to soothe my worried mind. A soft knock came from outside my large wooden door.
“Come in.” I called out.
The door creaked open and MC's head popped through.
“Hey Satan, are you busy?” she whispered.
I put my book down and walked over to her.
“No, not at all. I was just catching up on some reading.” I smiled.
“Ooo! Sounds interesting! Do you mind if I stay here? I like the comfort of your room.” she giggled.
“Oh, so you only like me for my room? I’m hurt.” I teased.
MC plopped down on my bed and cuddled the cat plush that sat on my bed.
“Oh, of course not! I love being around you in general. The room is just a bonus.” she smirked.
MC lay down and pulled the covers over her body.
“Can you open the window? I like looking at the moon and I barely ever see it from my room.” MC said.
I made my way over to my window and pressed my hand against the cold glass. I pushed it open and a gust of cool wind blew into my room. The moon was now more visible and it lit up the entire room.
“Are you sure it’s not too cold for you MC?” I asked.
“A little, but if you come cuddle with me I won’t be so cold.” she offered, grinning.
A smile grew across my face. How could I ever say no to her? I pulled my RAD sweatshirt over my head, threw it on my chair and climbed into bed where MC had opened up a space for me. She placed the covers over me as I pulled her close. She pressed her cheek against my chest and stayed, silently listening to my heartbeat.
“Your heartbeat sounds funny, Satan.” MC announced. “It beats super quick, mine is slow.”
I chuckled at her comment. “Well, of course they sound different, love. You’re a human and I’m a demon.”
The silence was loud.
I looked down at MC, who was still laying on my chest and I watched her eyebrows scrunch in frustration.
“I wish I wasn’t human, I wish I could live forever, like you.” she whispered.
“I want to stay with you forever, I don’t want to die.” her voice broke.
I felt a lump in my throat begin to form. I hugged her tight and comforted her.
“I don't want you to either. It hurts me to think about it. But, we still have a long time left together. Many, many more years. So, don’t you worry about that now.” I assured.
I wiped the tears falling from her eyes and kissed her forehead. We fell asleep together, and embraced through the night.
