Nap Time

Summary:

The result of trying to pass time was being enveloped inside her arms.

Work Text:

"Mumei, do you know what time it is?" Kronii asked while skimming through her newly bought book.

"Nap time." Mumei acts like she's about to stand up from the couch but Kronii pulls her while giving an unimpressed look.

Mumei smiles cheekily.

Kronii groans. Here she goes again.

"What time is it?" She tries again, praying to the time gods that they give her sense of time back.

"Almost nap time."

Silence.

"MUMEI!!" Kronii lets the annoyance escape her lips while Mumei just giggles beside her.

Mumei finally gives in, "It's 3PM. Geez."

Kronii mouths an O with that answer.

"I cannot believe this."

"Believe what?" Mumei says, tilting her head.

"Nothing." She replied. She can sense a smile from her side but continues to actually reading the first few pages of the book in her hands.

They spent the afternoon in silence. Kronii was surprised that her owl managed to sit on the couch quietly, without much movement.

Curiously, she turns her head to her left, only to find Mumei trapped in dreamland.

Kronii wanders her eyes through her features. She never removes that cloak. She gazes upward, finding her owl's cheeks being squished with her left hand. Her arm is going to hurt.

With that thought, she walks to Mumei's room to get her a pillow and a blanket. When she comes back, she lifts the owl caringly to put the pillow under her head. She then removes her boots and places her feet to the couch so she's now sleeping at her back. The blanket is now above Mumei, with just enough of her face shown to be able to comfortably breathe.

Just as she was about to stand up, a brown-gloved hand reached for her knee, making her freeze.

"Don't leave." She whimpers.

Kronii's heart stops, and then it starts beating double time. She stared at the hand for a while. Slowly, she extends her arm to hold that hand. She lifts it up and puts it beside her face. "I would never do that." Despite her calm remark, her pulse continues to rise.

After a few breaths, she joins her owl on the couch, lifting her up once again and placing her right arm around her. With how narrow the couch was, they definitely looked like a burrito from the ceiling. Kronii doesn't mind. As long as Mumei was inside her arms, the sense of time didn't matter.
