Work Text:

“This week’s theme… Christmas!” Mr. Schuester said, smiling at all of his cheering students.

“Mr. Schuester, if I may,” Rachel started, standing in front of the room, “I think that for our group number at the end of the week, we should do the song ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ by Andy Williams.”

As Rachel looked at all of her friends’ smiling facing, hearing their excited chatter, she noticed that one person didn’t exactly look as thrilled as the rest of the club. Or really, at all. He looked miserable.

“Kurt, cheer up, it’s Christmas!” She said, causing the room to look at the boy in question, who was sitting in the back of the room with a distant look on his face.

Kurt rolled his eyes at her, sinking further into his seat. Blaine rubbed the back of Kurt’s neck gently, whispering something into his ear.

Rachel furrowed her eyebrows, “You know what, Kurt? You do this all the time! Whenever someone mentions Christmas, you turn into a total Grinch! Why do you hate Christmas so much?”

“You’re one to talk, you don’t even celebrate Christmas. You’re Jewish,” Kurt responded snidely. Rachel watched as Blaine leaned over and whispered something else to Kurt, who then closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“Just because I’m Jewish doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy Christmas. It’s the happiest time of the year. Christmas is all about spending time with family, who doesn’t love that?”

She noticed as Kurt tensed up under the word ‘family’.

“Mr. Schue, can I go to the bathroom,” Kurt asked before picking up his satchel and standing up.

“Yeah, go ahead buddy,” the teacher allowed.

Before Kurt could go, Blaine grabbed his wrist and pulled him back, motioning for him to come closer. Kurt leaned down, listening as Blaine mumbled something to him. Kurt nodded before standing upright and leaving the room. Rachel saw Blaine as he leaned down to Finn, who was sitting in front of him, and whispered something to him. Finn pulled out his phone and began to text. Fed up, Rachel decided to call them out.

“Okay, what was that all about?”

“Yeah, dude,” Puck said, “What’s with the stick shoved up Hummel’s ass? He’s been moody all week.”

“Not to mention, every time someone even remotely mentions Christmas, he practically shudders,” Tina added.

“You two obviously know something that we don’t, so spill,” Rachel demanded.

Blaine and Finn looked at each other before Blaine spoke up, “Kurt just doesn’t like Christmas. He also doesn’t like the fact that none of you will leave him alone about it. He’s been telling me all week about how you guys keep bringing it up, and how he keeps finding random Christmas decorations in his locker.”

Finn continued, “Yeah, he said he’s had his combination changed like four times already since last Tuesday.”

“Hold on,” Artie interrupted, “You live with him. What do you guys actually do on Christmas, then, if Kurt hates it so much? Does he just, like, hide in his room all day?”

“Oh, no, me and mom go up to my Aunt Connie’s house and spend the day with their family and my grandma.”

Santana looked at him, confused, “What about Kurt and his dad? You just leave them home?”

“Kurt and Burt don’t celebrate Christmas,” Finn said, not noticing Blaine’s frantic gestures at trying to get him to shut up until it was too late, “I mean, no they do their own thing. They’ve got their own traditions.”

“Guys, can we get back to the lesson?” Mr. Schue said, not wanting to discuss family matters during his rehearsal time.

“No, Mr. Schuester, this is important,” Rachel said, “Why don’t Kurt and Burt celebrate it?”

Before Finn could even open his mouth, Blaine stood and pulled Finn up with him, “We have to go now, Mr. Schue. Sorry. See you tomorrow!”

The boys had left the room before anyone could process what was happening. After they left, everyone remained quiet until Sam spoke up.

“So are we going to question what all of that was about?”

“No need, I have a plan,” Rachel smirked.

Mr. Schue stood up, urging Rachel to sit back down again, “Whatever you’re thinking, stop. I don’t want you guys meddling in their family life. Everyone has their reason for not celebrating, and usually they’re personal. Christmas isn’t a happy time of year for everyone, and you need to respect that.”

Puck squinted at the teacher, “You know something.”

“I do, but only because Carole mentioned it. And I’m not telling you guys anything. It’s not my place to tell, and it’s none of your business. Drop the topic now, and let’s get back to the lesson.”

Blaine and Finn found Kurt sitting in his car. He had his head leaning on the steering wheel and it looked like his eyes were closed. In a silent agreement, the two boys decided that Blaine would sit in the passenger seat and Finn would sit in the back. Blaine went to open the door but saw that it was locked, so he tapped on the window. Kurt shot up, startled, but quickly unlocked the car.

The ride to the Hudson-Hummels was quiet. Finn and Blaine wanted to wait for Kurt to say something, but he never did. He didn’t open his mouth until the three of them were sitting at the dining room table having an after-school snack.

“Why does she always have to be in everybody’s business?” Kurt muttered.

Finn sighed, “I’m really sorry, dude. I’ll talk to her tomorrow and tell her to back off.”

“And I’ll talk to Mr. Schue and see if he’ll let you skip this week’s assignment,” Blaine said.

“No need, he texted me after I left the room. I don’t know what happened after I left, but he told me that I don’t have to go to glee at all this week and that he and Mike will meet with me in the auditorium to go over choreography for regionals,” Kurt said.

An hour later, Burt and Carole came home to see Finn and Blaine watching a football game in the living room. They were surprised when they noticed Kurt fast asleep, laying across the two with his head on Blaine’s lap and his feet on Finn’s.

“Hey boys, is Kurt alright?” Burt was concerned about his son. Kurt rarely took naps. Usually, if he was found sleeping on the couch, it was because he was either sick or upset.

“The assignment in glee this week is Christmas,” Finn said.

Burt sighed, rubbing the back of his neck tiredly, “Do I need to talk to Schuester about this?”

“No, it’s okay, Burt,” Blaine said politely, “Mr. Schue told Kurt he can skip glee all week. He actually called Finn about twenty minutes ago.”

“Yeah, Mr. Schue said that everyone wanted to do Christmas, so he couldn’t really say no. But he said he’s willing to talk to you if you want. And I think you should because the other glee kids won’t leave Kurt alone about his hatred for Christmas,” Finn added.

“Maybe I should head over there now," Burt thought out loud, “Would you two be okay with watching him until Carole or I get back?”

“We’ll be okay,” Blaine assured him.

“Alright, call me if you need anything. Schue’s an understanding guy so hopefully, this won’t take too long.”

Burt, Blaine, and Finn thought that the rest of the week would be smooth sailing since Kurt had taken up Mr. Schue’s suggestion of skipping glee for the week, but they were sadly mistaken.

Two days after Kurt’s outburst in glee, Rachel began asking why he kept skipping. The first time, Kurt rolled his eyes and said he was working at his dad’s shop for the week. Rachel decided to let it go… until lunch.

“Come on, Kurt,” Rachel said as she leaned across the table, “We all know you aren’t working at the shop, you always tell us that your dad never schedules you during glee rehearsals. Why are you lying?”

“I’m not lying!” Kurt exclaimed defensively. “My dad scheduled me to work from two to six. Ask Finn!”

The New Directions looked at Finn, who was about to take a bite out of a ham and cheese sandwich.

“Uh yeah,” He said, “Kurt’s been working at the shop. Blaine and I head over there after glee to hang out until he and Burt are done.”

Rachel rolled her eyes, groaning, “I bet you’re doing this just because you don’t feel like singing Christmas songs. Well, guess what? It’s the assignment, so you have to! And speaking of the assignment… hit it, Artie!”

Artie, who had rolled his way over to a boombox in the center of the room, hit play. The introduction to ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ began to play, and all of the New Directions (minus Kurt, Blaine, and Finn) got up and started to sing and dance.

Throughout the number (which was clearly directed towards Kurt), Rachel and various other members of the glee club tried to get Kurt to join them, but Kurt shook them all off, grabbed his things, and left the cafeteria in a huff. When the song ended, the New Directions glared at Finn and Blaine, who were still sitting at the table looking pissed off.

“What the hell, guys?” Blaine asked. “Why did you do that?”

“To bring Kurt some Christmas spirit!” Tina said cheerfully.

“Why’d he leave? He, of all people, should know how rude it is to leave in the middle of a performance,” Rachel said rudely.

“Because he was uncomfortable,” Finn provided, “He asked you guys to stop with the Christmas stuff, and you didn’t listen. He has the right to leave if he wants to.”

Finn and Blaine shared a look before standing up and grabbing their books.

“You guys better leave him alone,” Blaine warned, “Don’t upset him even more than he already is.”

When Blaine and Finn eventually found Kurt, he had locked himself in a stall in the boys' bathroom and was talking on the phone to someone. The boys waited for him to come out patiently. When Kurt emerged, his eyes were red, his face was sad, and his hair was a mess. Kurt walked over to the sink, running his shaking hands through his hair.

“Are you okay, baby?” Blaine asked, stepping next to Kurt.

Kurt nodded as he wet a paper towel and used it to wipe by his eyes.

“You sure, dude? Do you need me to call Burt?” Finn asked.

“Just got off the phone with him,” Kurt mumbled, “I told him what happened and he said he’d come in and talk to Mr. Schue. He’ll be here in twenty minutes.”

Blaine nodded, “Alright, why don’t we go wait in his office then?”

Mr. Schue was disappointed when the boys and Burt explained what happened.

“Kurt, I’m so sorry this happened. I told the kids to stop bothering you about everything. I also told them to keep their assignment in the choir room, but clearly, they didn’t listen to that either.”

“They’re not gonna listen to you,” Kurt said.

“I have no idea what else to do, Kurt. I’ll tell them all to leave you alone again, but I really don’t have control over what goes on outside of the choir room. I’m really sorry,” The teacher said sadly, wishing there was more he could do.

Things seemed to calm down over the next few days. In fact, it calmed down so much that Kurt, Blaine, and Finn were starting to get suspicious. During glee practice on Friday, Blaine and Finn decided to ask the rest of their teammates about it.

“Why’d you guys suddenly stop bothering Kurt about Christmas?” Finn said abruptly while the kids waited for Mr. Schue to arrive.

“Because he got us all in trouble,” Tina said bitterly.

Puck spoke up, “Yeah, the dude snitched on us. Even after everything we did for him last year during the Karofsky situation, he still turned on us.”

“If I remember correctly, none of you did anything to help with the bullying,” Blaine said, turning around in his seat, “And he didn’t ‘snitch’ on you, he just wants to be left alone and you guys weren’t respecting his wishes.”

“Well, we’re leaving him alone now, okay?! God, what more do you want from us?” Rachel huffed over-dramatically.

“I think it would be really cool if you guys apologized to him,” Finn said, “And I don’t think a text will work.”

Mercedes wondered out loud, “What if we all came over tonight and apologized? Would that work?”

Finn shook his head, “No, we’re all going out for Friday night dinner. Burt and mom wanted to try that new restaurant downtown. We were only able to get seven o’clock reservations, so we won’t be home until later.”

All of a sudden, an idea hatched in Rachel’s head.

As soon as glee ended, Blaine and Finn were the first ones out of the room. Once they left, Rachel shut the door before anyone else could leave.

“What the hell, Berry?” Santana asked, crossing her arms.

“I have a plan, you guys,” Rachel said proudly.

Sam groaned, “Does this have to do with Kurt? Because if it involves singing to him again, I’m out.”

“Me too,” Mike and Tina chimed in together.

Rachel shook her head, “No, it’s not about singing to Kurt. But it is about him. What are you all doing tonight?”

The Hudson-Hummels and Blaine came back home laughing and talking cheerfully. They had had a delicious dinner and a wonderful night out, and were now ready to get comfy in the living room and watch a movie. However, their joy was short-lived.

When they entered the house and headed into the living room, they were astonished to see the entire glee club standing there smiling. They were concerned about how they all managed to get into the house. And then they noticed that the entire living room was covered in Christmas decorations.

There was a huge Christmas tree in the corner, decorated with colorful ornaments. Garlands hung across the ceiling and stockings were above the fireplace. The kids were all dressed up in Christmas colors and scarves and were smiling brightly at the family.

“Surprise!” They all shouted.

The family stood there in shock. No one moved until they heard a sniffle. Everyone turned their attention to Kurt, who had started to cry. Blaine brought him into a hug and Finn placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. The two looked at each other sadly, then back at Kurt.

“Oh, Kurt, you don’t have to cry! We were more than happy to-”

“Blaine, go take him upstairs and close the door,” Burt said, cutting Rachel off. Blaine nodded, guiding Kurt up the stairs as the boy struggled to hold himself together.

Only when Burt heard Kurt’s bedroom door close did he speak again.

“Does anyone want to explain what the hell is going on here?” He asked, trying to stay calm.

“I just don’t get it! We’ve tried everything to get Kurt into the Christmas spirit and nothing’s worked! Christmas is the best time of the year, so why does he hate it so much? What is his problem? Why doesn’t he celebrate it?” Rachel huffed angrily.

“You don’t celebrate Christmas, either,” Finn shot back, “And would you just drop it? You’ve upset him enough already, so just stop.”

“You know what?” No! I won’t drop it! We’ve been going out of our way all week, all month, to get him into the holiday spirit, and all he’s done is act like a complete bitch about it! All I want to know is why! Why does he hate Christmas as much as he does? Why-”

“Because Christmas is the day his mother died!” Burt yelled over her, silencing her immediately.

The atmosphere was tense. Burt was fuming, smoke was practically coming out of his ears. He looked like a coyote, about to attack his prey. The glee kids all stepped back, sensing his anger. None of them had ever seen Burt Hummel so irate before. It was scary.

Carole placed a hand on Burt’s shoulder, “Honey, why don’t you go into the kitchen and calm down so you don’t yell at the children? Finn and I can handle everything here.”

Burt pried his narrowed eyes off of Rachel and looked at Carole, “I’m going to check on Kurt.”

“No, not yet. You need to calm down before you see him. If he sees how upset you are, it’ll only upset him more.”

Burt hesitated before nodding, disappearing into the kitchen. Carole turned her attention back to the silent group of kids in her living room.

“Why don’t you all sit down-”

“What the hell, Rachel?!” Finn shouted.

Rachel gaped at him angrily, “Well, how was I-”

“Enough! Why the hell would you do that? Blaine and I have told you numerous times to stop bothering Kurt, but no! You just had to keep butting into his business! You upset him, and now you’ve gone and upset Burt, too. You hurt my family, and that’s not okay with me. God, I can’t even look at you right now. We’re over, Rachel. Don’t talk to me anymore,” Finn furiously ranted.

“Finn,” Carole cut in before anyone else could talk, “Go to the kitchen and check on Burt, okay?”

“Mom-”

“Now.”

Finn stomped out of the room and into the kitchen, leaving Carole with the shocked members of the New Directions.

Upstairs, Kurt was laying on his bed, face buried into his pillow as he hugged his favorite stuffed cow to his chest. It was a gift from his mom, the last one he received from her before she died. Blaine sat next to him, rubbing his back to try and calm him down.

“Shh, I know, baby. I know,” Blaine whispered soothingly.

“I want mommy,” Kurt sobbed. Blaine was truly heartbroken for the boy. He leaned down and planted a soft kiss into Kurt’s hair.

“Is there anything I can do to help make you feel a little better?”

Hold me. Please,” Kurt whimpered.

Blaine pulled the upset boy into his arms, guiding his head to rest in the crook of his neck. Kurt sobbed into Blaine’s neck, feeling completely drained, as he wished his mom was there with him.

Back downstairs, Burt and Finn sat in the kitchen together, each drinking a glass of water.

“Heard what you said back there,” Burt mumbled, looking up at Finn, “Thank you, kid.”

“Don’t, I’d do that for anyone,” Finn admitted, “I just can’t believe she did that, and they all agreed with her. Even after me, Blaine, and Mr. Schue told them all to leave Kurt alone. God, I hope he’s okay.”

“You seem a little calmer, why don’t you go check on him? I’m sure he’d appreciate it.”

“You’ll be okay?”

“Yeah, I’m gonna talk to the kids. Even though I’m pissed at them for making my son cry, they deserve to know why,” Burt sighed, rubbing a hand across his face.

After Finn went upstairs, Burt pulled himself together and headed back into the living room. He sat down next to Carole and smiled slightly when he felt her slip her hand into his. He looked up at the kids in front of him.

“I’m very upset with you kids,” he said, “I’m upset and angry, but I’m not going to yell at you. Seems Finn already chewed you all out enough. I want to explain to you why we all got so upset.”

“Um, Mr. Hummel?” Tina said quietly from behind Artie. “You don’t have to explain it to us, it seems personal, and we want to respect that. I know it’s a little too late, but you don’t have to give us details if you don’t want to. We can all leave now if you’d like. And for the record, I wasn’t down for this. I mean, I was curious, but I never wanted to push him about it.”

“Thank you, Tina, I appreciate that. And I’m sure there are some of you who also didn’t want to do this, right?”

Tina, Mike, Sam, and Quinn all nodded.

“We knew Kurt was upset, so we wanted to leave him alone and apologize. But then Rachel suggested this and we couldn’t back out of it. She wouldn’t let us,” Quinn said.

“And we definitely weren’t comfortable with breaking into your house,” Mike added.

“Which is lovely, by the way,” Sam finished.

“We’ll discuss that in a minute. You kids aren’t getting away with that. But thank you for being nice to my kid. If he’s up for it over the weekend, you four can come back and apologize. The rest of you aren’t getting off the hook so easily. But I digress, I want to tell you what happened because, after the way Finn and I yelled at you, you deserve to know why we yelled.

“Christmas used to be Kurt’s favorite day of the year, besides Black Friday. He loved decorating the house, baking cookies, watching Christmas movies, and opening presents, just like any kid did. When he was eight, we had our last Christmas, we just didn’t know it.

“Me, Kurt, and Lizzie, his mom, spent all morning together, opening gifts and playing with all of Kurt’s new toys. Around two o’clock, I went into the kitchen to start cooking. I had to cook since Lizzie was sick, she had cancer, so she tired easily. She told me she was tired and wanted to take a nap, so Kurt and I kissed her, said we loved her, and went into the kitchen.

“When we came back to wake her up two hours later, she wouldn’t get up. Kurt kept going, ‘Mommy, wake up, it’s time for dinner,’ but she didn’t wake. Finally, I realized that she wasn’t breathing. We called an ambulance and once we got to the hospital, the doctors told us that her body couldn’t fight anymore. We all thought we had at least another year with her, but the cancer had spread too quickly.”

Carole squeezed Burt’s hand, looking at all of the kids in front of her. Quinn and Tina were crying, Mike and Sam comforting them. Artie looked like he was on the verge of tears himself. The rest of the kids looked extremely guilty.

“Since then, Kurt and I haven’t celebrated Christmas. When Carole and I got married, we talked about this a lot. We didn’t know what to do about the holiday. I’m okay with it now, it still brings up sad memories, but I told Carole that if she and Finn wanted to celebrate, we could. Kurt was the one I’m more concerned about.

“He was really close with his mom, and her death took a huge toll on him. And while he loves Carole, he still hasn’t fully healed from it. I know you kids know that he has depression, but you probably didn’t know that he was diagnosed with it right after Lizzie died. Certain days are just hard for him, and Christmas is the worst one because it’s when she died. He hasn’t been able to do anything Christmas-y since he was eight.

“That’s why Carole and Finn go to her sister’s for the holiday, and Kurt and I stay here. It’s been harder for him this year because you guys won’t leave him alone about Christmas. It’s taking a major toll on him. We had to schedule his therapy appointments for once a week rather than once a month since you started bothering him. So please, just leave him alone about it. Don’t bring up this conversation either, it’ll only upset him more, and you guys all know that he’s a sensitive kid.”

Mercedes looked at Burt with guilt and sorrow in her eyes, “We’re so sorry we caused him so much pain. We had no idea.”

“Yeah,” Santana added, “He doesn’t talk about his mom, so we really didn’t know. But I feel awful, and you know it’s bad when I feel awful.”

“Is there anything we can do to make it up to him?” Brittany asked.

Burt sighed, “I don’t know, kids. You’ll just have to give him time. But for now, why don’t you all help Carole take down these decorations?”

The kids all nodded and started to take everything down. Burt and Carole stood up.

“Where are you going?”

“I have to check on Kurt. I know Finn and Blaine are with him, but sometimes he just needs his dad,” he smiled sadly.

When Burt opened Kurt’s door, he felt his heart breaking for his son. Kurt was sandwiched between Blaine and Finn, crying into Blaine’s shoulder. Blaine had his arms wrapped tightly around him, with one hand carding through Kurt’s hair, a gesture that always helped Kurt calm down. Finn held Kurt’s hand tightly in one of his, while the other rubbed circles onto his brother’s back.

Burt walked into the room and sat at the foot of Kurt’s bed.

“Hey, buddy,” he said, placing a gentle hand on his son’s calf.

Kurt looked up, his eyes wide and filled with tears, “Daddy?”

“Oh, come here buddy,” Burt said, holding his arms open. Kurt got off of Blaine and practically fell into his father’s arms, sobbing as he breathed in his dad’s comforting scent.

Kurt stayed in his dad’s arms until he calmed down. It took around twenty minutes, and in that time, Finn and Blaine somehow managed to join the hug, and Carole had eventually come upstairs, too. All of the glee kids were gone, and the Christmas decorations were taken away with them.

“Are you feeling any better, bud?” Burt asked, breaking the quiet?”

“Yeah, I guess.”

“What do you say we all go downstairs and watch a movie? You can pick tonight, Kurt.”

And so the family migrated down to the living room. Blaine, Finn, Burt, and Carole sat close together on the couch, waiting for Kurt to join as soon as he picked a movie. When he joined them, instead of making them all squish together even more, he decided to lay on top of them all, resting his head on Blaine’s lap and his socked feet on Carole’s.

Blaine carded his fingers through Kurt’s hair, and about halfway into the movie, Blaine noticed that he accidentally put Kurt to sleep. Burt seemed to notice that Kurt fell asleep too, and looked over at Blaine, admiring how the boy looked down at Kurt with so much love in his eyes.

“Kurt’s out cold, huh?” He said.

Blaine looked up, “Yeah, he’s had a long day though, so I don’t blame him.”

“Wait, he’s asleep? Does this mean we’re going to have to watch this again so he can see the end? Because this movie sucks,” Finn said.

“Shush, honey,” Carole said, “Don’t wake up your brother.”

“Blaine, help me get him upstairs?” Burt asked.

Blaine carefully slid out from under Kurt, placing a throw pillow under his head. He then helped Carole lift up Kurt’s legs so that Burt could slide out, too. Once up, Burt gathered his son into his arms and carried him up to his room. Blaine trailed behind closely, making sure Burt didn’t drop Kurt.

Blaine pulled the blankets back and fluffed Kurt’s pillows quickly so that Burt could lay the sleeping boy down. Before they started their movie, Kurt managed to change into pajamas, so they didn’t have to worry about changing him out of those ridiculously tight jeans that he had on earlier.

Burt pulled the blankets up, tucking Kurt in and smiling when he saw his son nuzzle his face into his pillow. Kurt always looked cute while he slept. Burt looked at Blaine and gestured to the bed.

“What?” Blaine asked, not sure what Burt was trying to say.

“You getting in or what?”

“Huh?”

“I’ll go call your mom and tell her you’re staying.”

“Wait, you’re letting me stay over?”

“You were good to my son today, consider this thanks. Now get to sleep.”

Burt leaned down to kiss Kurt on the forehead before walking over to Blaine and hugging him. Blaine was surprised, but melted into the embrace, smiling brightly when he felt Burt drop a quick kiss into his curls.

“Love you, kiddo. Get some sleep,” Burt said, pulling away.

“I love you, too, Burt. Tell the others I said good night.”

“Of course, kid.”

As soon as Burt shut the door, Blaine climbed into bed next to Kurt. Kurt immediately rolled over resting his head on Blaine’s chest and clutching his shirt in his fist. Blaine kissed Kurt’s head, rubbing his shoulder.

“I know you’re awake,” he said, “You little faker. I realized you were up as soon as I saw your eyes flutter when I got off of the couch.”

“Mmm, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Kurt mumbled sleepily.

“I know you, Kurt. You just wanted your dad to carry you. You did the same thing last month when we got back from that late trip to Columbus when I stayed the weekend here.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Liar, you pretended to be asleep when we got here, so your dad had to carry you out of the car and to bed. As soon as he left the room, you were wide awake and we ended up spending the next three hours watching TV in here.”

Kurt giggled, “Shh, don’t tell my dad. It’s a secret.”

“I won’t, baby, I won’t,” Blaine said, pressing another kiss into Kurt’s messy hair, “Go to sleep now, you’ve had a long day.”

“Thank you for being here for me all week. I know I haven’t been the best company, but-”

“Shh, you are always good company. I love being with you, baby.”

“I love you so much, Blaine,” Kurt said, looking up at him.

“I love you too, Kurt.”

Kurt leaned in, pressing a quick, chaste kiss onto Blaine’s lips, before settling back down on his chest. Blaine wrapped his arms tighter around Kurt, smiling to himself. After a few minutes, both boys fell asleep, holding each other tightly and smiling.
