Bakery "Enemies" [COMIC]

Summary:

After the defeat of Gabriel Agreste and the disappearance of the mysterious peacock miraculous user, Marinette is left to try her best as Guardian and pick up the pieces. With the kwamis left in hibernation, no leads on the missing peacock miraculous, and no way to contact her beloved partner, she's left to her wit's end on where to proceed.

That is, until the prime suspect of the peacock wielder coincidentally takes up an apprenticeship at her parents' bakery. Adrien Agreste, son of Hawkmoth, has seemingly planted his roots in her home while Marinette was away for an apprenticeship. This could either be a disaster in the making, or the perfect opportunity to retrieve the missing miraculous... either way, it's war.

At least, it would be, if the gosh darn villain weren't so sweet!

Notes:

Adrien was never allowed out of homeschool, he and Marinette have never met before, and it’s post-Hawkmoth defeat! Aged up, college age.

During Hawkmoth’s reign of terror, Mayura helped him out as usual… however, in this AU, Mayura never made an official appearance to the heroes. Nobody knew anything about her, other than the fact that sentimonsters were appearing to help Hawkmoth. They didn’t know her name, gender, anything. Most of Paris didn’t even know she existed at all, since Ladybug and Chat Noir never really explained to the press what sentimonsters appearing meant.

After the final battle a couple years ago, for unexplained magic reasons (it’s fine), the kwamis were all put into a temporary stasis after an immense use of their powers. Ladybug and Chat Noir were separated without ever having learned each other’s identities, and Gabriel Agreste was sent to prison for his crimes. The mysterious peacock miraculous was never found, and Nathalie escaped with it without suspicion.

With no threats seemingly coming to Paris (and her inability to do anything about it if they did), Marinette left to do a design internship in New York to try to get her mind off of everything. (she studied the Guardian book and acquainted herself more with the inner workings of the miraculous in the meantime, trying to wake the kwamis back up). This AU picks up once her internship ends and she returns back home.

TLDR; It’s kind of like an enemies au…. except literally only marinette thinks they’re enemies. adrien’s just tryna live his life man :( just let him be a baker

THE END!! I can't believe I finally completed this. When I first started this comic, I had no idea that it would end up being this long. A little over 3 years and over 200 parts, so around 2000 panels. (My folder that holds all my files relating to this comic is 3 GB with 2,017 items....). I honestly can't believe that I managed to stick around to the end of this. Thank you all so much for the support, I never imagined that so many people would care about this comic when I started it!

Of course, there are still some loose threads. The kwamis and Nathalie for example, but the core of this series has always been about the emotional conflict between Marinette and Adrien, and that has been resolved. I have some epilogue ideas to cover those loose ends, but this comic has already taken so much of my time and I'm not sure I want to promise that I'll get around to it. ... But who knows. Maybe!

For now, Adrien and Marinette will get some long-deserved rest.
