It was a regular day in Button House. Allison woke up and timed the captain's morning run, she put on a Bruce Springsteen record for Thomas (“Mr. Springsteen has such a way with words it is almost like he is standing right in the room with me”!)She flipped the pages in Kitty, Mary, and Fanny’s books, and finally helped Robin fill in his crossword while putting on Pats next football game. The one downside this morning was that she had said something that was about to set Julian into a rant about his grand days in parliament and how the 90s were the heyday of the labor party and Allison really didn't have the energy to hear that at 8:30 on a Sunday so she ended up just handing him her phone to get him to shut up.
“Now you can use that as much as you like as long as you don't spend any money on it”
she reminded him not wanting a repeat of the mobile golf game incident. To which Julian just nodded along and promised not to spend money.
After a few minutes he managed to find his way to the Spotify app and started rummaging through her playlists. The sound drew the attention of the other ghosts and soon there was a small crowd of dead people arguing about which my chemical romance song to play which was quite funny considering none of them were alive to have listened to mcr before so they were just picking songs at random. Allison was just tuning them out so that she could read her book when all of a sudden a familiar note played. Allison started to giggle.
“What's so funny?” asked Julian with vague contempt as this was his pick for a song.
“You just fucking G noted me!” Allison replied, trying and failing to hold back her laughter.
“I whot!” said Julian
“Oh get your mind out of the gutter” Allison scoffed “It's a joke with in the fanbase of mcr, the first note of that song is a G note and its very recognizable so when it gets played, people call it getting G noted”
A chorus of “ahs” and “ohs” came from the crowd of ghosts.
“What other things are there to know about this “my chemical romance”?'' said pat with his hand raised.
Allison then spent the rest of the day explaining the emo culture of the late 2000s accompanied by some slightly embarrassing photos of her when she was in secondary school complete with heavy black eyeliner and side swept bangs. That night instead of movie club the whole house watched old concert videos and various makeup tutorials all of which looked like they were filmed on a cardboard box, but the ghosts seemed enthralled. for the next month movie nights were pushed out in favor of watching documentary's and interviews with bands, the group got so into it that pat added an activity to the day called "music history" which consisted of crowding around Julian as he very slowly typed on Allison's laptop to find music videos. Alliosn thought they were never going to stop asking for more information until one day she heard Julian say.
"what is "100 gecs"?"
oh god, she thought, this will not end well.
