Work Text:

Song recommendation: watch you sleep. by girl in red

The mornin’ sun
Shines on your skin
’Cause your white curtains
They are, paper thin

Windows open
I can feel the breeze
But we’re safe here
Under the sheets

The pale morning light permeates the room through the curtains. Minute by minute, the sun’s beams bring the colors in the room to life, illuminating even the deepest shadows from the now-gone night. Yuxin stirs under the blanket as she slowly wakes up. As she gets aware of her surroundings, she feels a faint breeze of the chill morning air through the slightly opened window. An arm twines around her waist like vines wrap their stems around a wire, and when Yuxin gently turns around, she sees Keran sleeping soundly next to her.

I don’t ever wanna leave
I’ll watch you sleep
And listen to you breathe
I don’t ever wanna leave
I’ll watch you sleep
I’ll watch you sleep

Her mind can’t stop replaying the night they spent together. A night of connection, skin on skin, gentle caresses, and thrilling togetherness. A night filled with trust, love, and understanding. Yuxin loves when they have nights like last night, it fills her heart with tenderness and fulfillment. Yuxin smiled as she let herself, enjoying the moment. She marvels at how peaceful Keran looks, and she wishes for them to stay frozen in time.

Yuxin traces the rays that are grazing her lover’s arm from her wrist, sleeve, up to her tattoed arm while the sun falls softly on Keran’s shoulder. Her eyes move to look at Keran’s tattoo, observing it and taking details on how the shapes, lines, and colors play on the skin. Watching how the taller girl’s shoulder and chest rise up and down to the rhythm of her breath. Feeling the warmth of Keran’s body, her disheveled, sun-kissed fringe begs to be played with.

I never get
Bored of lookin’ at you
’Cause every time
I see somethin’ new

Yuxin brushes Keran’s hair with her fingers and traces her eyebrows gently before she slowly lines Keran’s straight nose and touches Keran’s pouty lips. Keran always pouts and scrunches her nose whenever she sleeps. She also talks in her sleep from time to time and makes small motions. Yuxin loves looking at her. Yuxin draws her way from Keran’s mole on her chin down to the ones adorning the older girl’s collarbones before it hovers on her chest, close to where her heart beats steadily, making a constellation out of her skin.

Keran mumbles in her sleep before she blearily opens her eyes. Yuxin smiles at Keran’s antics, waiting for the older woman to rub the sleep away from her eyes so Yuxin can greet her immediately.

“Good morning, Keke.”

Keran lets out a yawn as she stretches her body like a cat before she melts back to the mattress, before she melts back into Yuxin. “Morning, Yuxin.” Keran smiles.

As the sun keeps rising and shining through the paper-thin curtain in their room, the lovers look into each other’s eyes. They kiss and embrace each other and entirely immerse themselves in the moment. And they both never want to leave.

I don’t ever wanna leave
I’ll watch you sleep
And listen to you breathe
I don’t ever wanna leave
I’ll watch you sleep
I’ll watch you sleep

Notes:

Hello everyone! So... firstly, let me introduce you to my series called Florilegium, Miscellanea, and Other Fancy Analogous Words (don't ask me why I call it so). Basically, It's Our Days Are Numbered ver. 0.2, but instead of making them in chapters like its predecessor, I put them in a series--so I can also raise the number of Kexin stories here.

Secondly, this story was not something I intended to do (but I ended up doing it anyway). I listened to my playlist on my bed when Watch You Sleep by Girl In Red played, and I instantly imagined this scenario. Personally, for me, the thought of someone watching me sleep ranks pretty high in my list of anxieties--but hearing this song makes the action sounds intimate, tender, even contemplative. Huh...

Thirdly, I want to write new things--well, it's not new but more like a continuation of my previous works, but I already have two stories on the go and barely update, so yeah... I had to resist, I know, maybe after I'm done with them.

Anyway, here's something light and short from me. Happy Chinese New Year! Don't forget to drop kudos and comments for me when you get the time! Enjoy!
