Work Text:
It was one of those nights again. The weather has gotten worse lately and the rainfalls never cease to make you feel uneasy. You were always afraid of thunderstorms as a child. Somehow it followed you into adulthood and never truly left. Recently, you were haunted by awful nightmares. The ones that leave you feeling fidgety and anxious for the rest of the day. A sudden loud thunderclap ripped you out of your sleep and your eyes widened in shock from the noise. A part of you was almost thankful for being able to escape it. You tried to focus your eyes in the pitchblack darkness that consumes your bedroom. The candles you lightened before bed to read must’ve gone out by themselves, judging from the opened book spread out on your stomach.
”You fell asleep while reading again, letting the candles burn all alone while you were oblivious.” A figure approached you with a low and warm voicetone you could recognize anywhere. “How reckless of you, my dear.” The red haired man you knew as your boyfriend, Sasori, was carrying a small tray and sat down next to you on your bed.
His left hand met your cheek and his neutral facial expression softened. “You’ve had nightmares again, right?” You leaned into the palm of his hand. His rose petal lips curl into a soft, almost not visible smile, as he hands you a hot cup of tea. From the scent you could tell it was a chamomile blend, one of the ones you had every time you felt anxious before bed. “I could hear you cry out in your sleep from the workshop and got worried, darling.”
Sasori tangled his finger in your hair as you leaned onto him, blowing at the warm liquid to not burn your tongue. He pulled the blanket back over you and himself, since the room temperature dropped quite an amount from the cold rain outside and he didn’t want you to freeze. Still dazed from your sleep and anxiety you hushed out a little ‘thank you’ and cuddled deeper into the arms of your boyfriend.
Both of you just laid there for a while, enjoying the silence together, exchanging sweet little kisses every now and then, while you finished drinking the tea he brewed for you. You eventually put the empty delicate cup on the tray on the nightstand, tired and way calmer than before.
Quickly you rushed back into the cozy warmth of your bed and felt Sasori’s arms drape around you once more, pulling you close to him under the thick blankets. His hands found their way to your back. He let them wander underneath your shirt and caressed your naked skin carefully. The warm and loving feeling made you sigh dreamily into his chest, melting into his touch and finally closing your heavy eyes.
Sasori kept his voice in a low whisper to avoid startling you again. “Sweet dreams, my love.” Another kiss was placed on your lips. Already half asleep you whispered out a tired ’Goodnight, I love you’ before drifting off to a deep peaceful slumber.
