Chapter Text
His ears were ringing, his heart practically beating out of his chest. Gregory ran and ran and ran, hearing a voice fading away the more he ran.
"Greeeegoryyyy! Come baaaack!"
He'd never felt more scared before, she was inches away from his face when he woke up. The shine of her blade was still fresh in his mind, but he was trying his best not to think about it. He briefly looked back, wanting to see if she was still there. Then…
THUD
He ran directly into something. Hard. He staggered back, almost falling to the ground. He held onto his head and looked up, wanting to see what he ran into. It was a person.
A woman, specifically.
She had long brown hair with a blonde fade as it went down. Her hair covered up half of her face, only one of her bright blue eyes being shown. She also had red lipstick, along with a purple jacket and black skirt, with brown boots. On her jacket arms were black and white stripes, wearing a pair of stockings to match. Judging by the phone in her hand and headphones in her ear, it seemed like she was listening to a song.
"Woah, are you okay?" She asked, her voice soft. "You ran into me pretty hard there."
"Umm...I'm okay…" Gregory said, his voice shaking as he spoke. Then, off in the distance, he and the woman heard a voice.
"You can't run foreverrr!" It sang, followed by giggles. He looked back in horror when he suddenly felt the woman grabbing his hand tightly.
"Come'on, I know a place to hide." Gregory looked up at her, surprised. He thought about his options for a moment. Random person he just met, or a crazy bunny trying to kill him.
"Okay." He said, nodding. Then, they both started running, her leading him along. As they were going along, it started to pour rain, soaking the both of them. The woman temporarily stopped to take off her jacket and give it to Gregory to cover himself, which was a wordless interaction. Then, they finally made it to the side of a building, taking a second to hide underneath the side roof. She started to look around, seeing if that...person, was there chasing them. Luckily, it seemed like they both lost 'em. She let out a small sigh of relief before turning back to the kid.
"We lost them, you should be safe now." She smiled. Something about that smile...it felt oddly comforting to Gregory. Then, realizing he still had her jacket on top of his head, he handed it back to her.
"Thank you...ma'am." ugh, he hated that word, but he wanted to be nice. She just helped him escape death after all.
"You can just call me Evelyn dear. Or 'nette if you prefer."
'Nette? That was an odd nickname...but nonetheless, he corrected himself.
"Thank you Evelyn."
"You're welcome." She reached out and took back her jacket, accidentally touching Gregory's hand. It was ice cold.
"Wow you're cold." He blurted out. "You must have gotten really soaked." Evelyn giggled.
"No, I'm always really cold. It doesn't affect me much, besides making some parts of my body a little red." As examples, she pointed to her nose and cheek, both a little red like she was surrounded by snow and ice.
"That's kinda weird."
"You're a really blunt kid, huh?" She smirked, ruffling his hair when she finally put her jacket back on.
"Heeeyyy!!" Gregory huffed, fixing his hair to be the messy way he wanted it to be.
"Actually, what's your name?" She asked, hands in her pockets.
"Gregory. If you call me Greg for short, I'll probably fight you." He smirked. Evelyn laughed, snorting as she did.
"Alright, got it Gregory. We're still not quite there yet, just a bit more to go. Do you mind walking a bit more through the rain?" Gregory shrugged.
"As long as I get to dry off afterwards." Evelyn smiled, clapping her hands together.
"Great! I promise, you'll both be safe, and will have such a great time." She held out her hand again for him, and once again he took it. He wasn't sure why, normally that stuff made him feel weird, but for some reason Evelyn just made him feel so comfortable. He was really confused as to why, but he opted to not think about it too much. He's just a kid after all, he doesn't gotta worry about that stuff for a few more years.
Then, they walked to the back corner of the building, sneaking into one of the backdoors. For whatever reason, Evelyn had the key to open it, and they went inside. Something about the room was really familiar, even though it was really really dark and hard to see. Evelyn effortlessly guided him through, speaking as she did.
"Technically we can get in through the front doors at this time, but I've always found it easier to sneak in through the back." She explained, making their way to a door. She opened it up, and that's when Gregory finally realized.
He was back in the PizzaPlex.
