Chapter Text
Kokomi slips into her jet black wetsuit, pulled the zipper from her waist up to the back of her neck, feeling the pur of the teeth as they clasp together her diving armor and held it snug to her figure.
She stepped out of her house for the lapping waves of the beach, BCD and oxygen tank in one hand, pastel pink mask and snorkel on her face, and dark blue flippers in the other hand. Eyes staring into the turquoise depths as her feet shuffled onto the damp sand, miniscule grains latching onto the soles of her feet before being swept away by the ebb and flow of mare.
Kokomi lowers her gear onto the sand and sits down facing the ocean, with a graceful bearing she slips on her BCD and her flippers and slowly inches herself into the foaming waves, feeling the water envelop her body from her descent, she reached for her regulator and fit it between her lips after sealing her mask onto her eyes and nose.
Calm feelings permeated her heart as she let herself sink to the sandy seabed, gently taking in air from her tank and exhaling it back to the ocean as she gently treaded the water with her arms and centered her body weight in the weightless environment by relaxing her muscles and letting oxygen enter her cells by breathing from her abdomen.
A fish with bright yellow and blue dorsals swam up to her gloved hand, feeling a slight tickle she pulled her hand away from the animal before relaxing upon realising it was just a fish. Kokomi let herself sink a few more feet to a lower shelf of sand before stopping to equalise the pressure in her ears; She slightly tightens her lips around her regulator and takes a breath in slowly before pinching her nose and exhaling against it until she feels a 'pop' in both of her ears.
The teal waters slowly descend into a sapphire embrace around her as she looks around, intrigued by the colors of the sea as the ecosystem entertains her in a kaleidoscopic dance of shapes and colors, gracing the white sands and breathing life into the marine cities constructed over millennia from coral polyps and grains of sand. She has dived in this area frequently since she was a young girl but is still captivated by how fast the scenery develops between each excursion; like the stars in the universe from a human's perspective; Her forebearers didn't see what the oceans reflect at night these days, so will her descendants in the far future as the cosmos slowly dances above the earth.
Kokomi gracefully propels herself forward with a kick from her legs, a swirling current generating from her flippers as she lunged up and forward, taking a breath in to increase her buoyancy level before releasing the used air through her mouth shortly upon arriving at her desired depth, somewhat starting to feel fatigued and slightly dizzy for some reason but brushed it off as she thought it was caused from her goggles pressing too tightly around the crown of her head.
She quickly found a flat clearing of sand a kick and a wade away from where she was so she quickly swam there and knelt down on her knees to take a rest. With one hand she pulls off her diving goggles to relieve the pressure on the crown of her head, Her other hand securing her air supply as she tried to take deep breaths to revitalise herself from the toll, the nausea now mounting directly on her shoulders as she re-equips her diving goggles and sets off once more to explore a nearby wreck.
This wreck was a small wreck of a wooden fishing boat the size of an average shark, its frame slowly rotting away as families of barnacles made it their home and schools of colorful fish danced through the gaping holes between the planks, the sand calmly settling around the wreckage before being stirred by currents generated by large creatures such as divers from the surface.
Kokomi spotted a hole large enough for herself to swim through with a bit of digging in the sand using her gloved hand, carefully sifting through white grains until a hole big enough for her safe passage would emerge out of the seabed.
Kokomi took a few moments to clear her mask and give some thought on how to safely enter the hole she dug without damaging herself or her equipment and how to pull the reverse gear in full swing should things go wrong.
After drawing some cards she finally decided to swim in head-first and try to turn back out after entering the wreck olympics style by gently kicking off of the wall of the boat and curling her body so the momentum propels her as needed. She stopped to take a few pictures of the interior with a waterproof camera before turning around to leave without disturbing the ecosystem.
Kokomi felt her vision slowly blurring and spots swimming before her eyes before losing all feeling and her vision going black as she was swimming.
"KOKOMI! HOLD ON! I'M COMING!" Was the last thing she heard.
