Chapter 1: The Child Store

Chapter Text

The loud slamming of his big bear feet could be heard from many blocks away, but to Freddy? He couldn't hear anything. He was too focused on his own thoughts. Him and his animatronic friends had gotten into an argument a few hours earlier that ended with Freddy walking out of the pizza plex in despair. The bear hated fighting with his friends. Thinking about the argument brought a faz tear to his eye.

Freddy let out a hearty chuckle, "Haha I can't wait to get one of my own!" He exclaimed. The other animatronics' laughter died down quickly, the echo of it still traveling through el chip. Freddy blinked with a questioning look at his friends. The wolf finally decided to speak up "Freddy, You don't know the first thing about raising a kid! Let alone taking care of one!" Roxxane laughed.

The animatronics started joining in with laughter. Freddy's smile left his face in an instant. He couldn't understand why they were laughing. He didn't say anything funny, did he? "I could too take care of a child! It's against my programming to harm one!" He defended.

Chica stopped eating literal garbage to pipe in, "It's a lot different to entertain a child and not harm them, than actually raising them, Freddy" The other robots nodded in agreement and Freddy felt his nonexistent heart drop to his stomach cavity. His own friends didn't think he could raise a child of his own? He could learn. He would learn! All he wants is to be a faz dad!

Monty cut off his thoughts saying, "Fazbear, you couldn't raise a kid even if you were programmed to! Stop kidding yourself and accept reality." He growled. Freddy couldn't sit and hear this anymore, so he stood, hurt by his friends' words.

"I could be a father! And I will be!" He shouted and turned to walk away. His friends were shocked at the bear raising his voice. It was such a rare event.

"Where are you going Freddy?" Chica asked.

"A walk"

Which brought Freddy to where he is now, walking the streets a couple miles from the pizza plex. He doesn't know what he is doing here. Seeing all the families enjoying the afternoon. Some shopping, few are getting something to eat, their kids smiling without a care in the world. It hurt his robo parts that deep down, he knew that he would never have that. Who was he kidding? Maybe his friends were right. Hoping for something that will never happen can't be helpful. Plus, how would he even get a kid? He can't exactly make one.

The sky was starting to grow cloudy and gray, blocking more and more of the sun as the minutes pass as if changing to his mood. Freddy will have to make his way home soon if he wants to avoid water damage to his wires. The staff always hated repairing him after one of his leisurely walks.

Just as he was about to turn around, something caught the attention of his vision receptors. It was a colorful sign. A few pounding footsteps later and he found himself in front of it. The sign was illuminated with bright blue and pink neon, sitting in front of a fairly plain looking building. It read 'Kids! Get em here!'

Freddy couldn't believe his eyes! This was exactly what he was looking for! He could finally have a child of his own and- no. A child wouldn't be happy with him, his friends are right. But even so, he couldn't seem to walk away from the store. Going inside couldn't hurt right? He could visit the children and entertain them!

He was good at that.

The bear animatronic finally walked up and pushed open the door. He was greeted to a warmly lit store with a couple rows of shelves housing different products for sale with a large desk in the back. Where are the children?

There was a lady sitting behind the desk reading a magazine, seemingly unaware of the animatronic that had just walked in. She had olive skin and red curly hair pulled back in a bun, she seemed to be in her early twenties, if Freddy's sensors were correct.

Maybe she knew where the children were.

Freddy took five large steps to arrive at the large desk, the lady still had not looked up from her magazine. There was a little bell sitting on the desk with a design that said 'ring me!', so Freddy did just that with his large bear paw.

The lady bolted upright in shock. It took her a moment to compose herself and finally look up at the bear. Her demeanor changed instantly and she dawned a big smile on her face. "Hello! My name is Lucy! Welcome to 'OrphansRUs! Where you make em we take em!'. How may I help you?" She asked.

Freddy leaned in close to her face, his metal joints creaking. He's about three inches from her, "Where are the children?" he whispered. He was close enough to sniff.

Lucy perked up. "Oh! Are you here to adopt!?" She asked. "How perfect!" She sniffed him in return. Freddy leaned back. Oh adopt? he couldn't do that. He's just here to entertain! Nothing else.

"Uhhmm maybe not today young miss, but I was hoping if I could see the children and maybe...brighten their day?" He asked. The woman seemed a bit put down by that, sitting back in her chair. "I'm an entertainer." Freddy offered.

"Well I guess they'd appreciate that." She turned around and grabbed a set of keys off a hook on the wall, then typed something on her computer and said, "Follow me, Mister....." she trailed off.

"Fazbear. Freddy Fazbear" He replied.

She nodded and lead him to a door to the right of the desk. When opened, it revealed a dark, damp room with rows of double decker beds along each wall. They were falling apart and the mattresses were soggy with a strange mystery liquid. At the end of the long room, there was a little boy sitting on the last bed. He had earbuds in and was softly singing to a song unknown to Freddy. He wore a blue striped shirt and black board shorts. His head was bobbing his fluffy brown hair back and forth and he seemed to have bandaids on his face and knee.

Why was there a lonely child sitting in the dark?

The bear looked at Lucy, "Where are the other children?" Freddy asked with a soft voice.

"Gone, most were adopted, some went to foster homes, others to different orphanages."She paused. "Gregory's the last one."

Freddy felt a pang of sadness in his chest. Why would anyone leave this Gregory in a sad room like this, all alone? Why wouldn't anyone want to adopt him? Freddy doesn't think he could cheer up a kid in a place like this, then just leave them!

Oh what the faz hekk am I about to do?

"I'll take him." Freddy said.

Lucy whipped her head toward him, "What? But I thought you weren't wanting to buy today?" She questioned.

I wasn't, but here we are. "I can't leave this child alone here." He countered softly.

"Well I must warn you, he's a bit of a bad kid. Rude, has a criminal record, and worst of all.." she leans in close to Freddy and whispers "..he listens to emo music." She finished.

Oh no! But Freddy's afraid of emos! Even so, Freddy will overcome his fear so he can give this Gregory a good home. His troubling behavior is even more of a reason to buy him. He could fix him.

Lucy started to talk again, "Yeah, you might want to buy someone else. He's been here for years, he'll be fine." She said.

Someone else? But there's only one kid here? Lucy must be a little confused, how silly. Freddy will just tell her otherwise, He put his paws on his hips and said, "No, I believe I will purchase Gregory today!"

Lucy sighed, "Well don't say I didn't warn you."  She turned around and opened the door again, "Wait by the desk for me, while I get Gregory." she said. With that, Freddy did as he was told and went to patiently wait by the front desk.

While he waited, he thought of all the preparations he will need to do. Gregory will need clothes, a new bed, some human food...Oh Freddy will definitely need to read some parenting books. And then there's the subject of his friends. The bear animatronic hopes they will understand and welcome Gregory with open arms. If not... Freddy will just have to protect him.

After about five minutes, the door opens up again and the woman and a little boy walk through. Gregory's jaw dropped and his emo eyes widened comically large at the sight of the giant metal animatronic bear in front of him.

"Meet your new Dad Gregory!" Lucy said cheerfully.

"Ma'am! That's a whole ass robot!" Gregory shouted. Lucy whipped her head down to look at him.

"Oh Gregory don't be like that!" She reprimanded. The woman huffed and turned back to Freddy. "Alright let's ring you up!" She said. The bear did a big wave to Gregory before bringing his attention to Lucy.

"Ok! That will be ten dollars!" Lucy chirped.

"What no! What the fuck is going on?! That is a giant robo bear!" Gregory yelled in exasperation, but no one paid him any mind other than a quick "language!" From the Robot.

"Do you take Faz bucks?" Freddy questioned.

"Faz- wa HUH? Am I finally going insane?!"

"Oh! Why yes we do!" Replied the woman.

     "Guess I am!"

Freddy fished out his wallet to get the money he needed. After the exchange of faz currency, Lucy asked, "Would you like a bag with that sir?"

     "A BAG?!"

"That would be lovely, thank you" said Freddy. Lucy opened a drawer, and pulled out a mustard yellow reusable bag that read 'Not an orphan anymore!' Covered in purple stars.

Freddy took the bag, and turned to look at the child. "Ready to go, Gregory?" Freddy asked with a smile.

"Hey! Now listen here bear! I may be nine but I-" Freddy put him in the bag.

He fit perfectly how nice! To keep Gregory safe, Freddy opened his oversized birthday cake hatch and put the Gregory bag inside. Honestly, Gregory was just stunned too much to protest anything at this point.

Freddy turned back towards Lucy. "Thank you Lucy. I will take good care of him. I promise" he said. And he WILL take proper care of Gregory. Freddy will put in all his effort.

"You better, or I'll be fired." She said. Freddy hoped that no one would set her ablaze, that can't be heathy. When Freddy starts walking towards the door she says, "Have a nice day, Mr. Fazbear!"

"And you as well" he finishes.

Finally he was outside again with his new child. H-he had a cub now! Freddy hopes he is doing ok, he must be a teensy bit scared. He lightly tapped on his stomach hatch and didn’t get much of a response. Gregory seemed to just be sitting in there. He's probably in shock, Freddy concluded. The bear took a moment to look up at the sky. It seemed less cloudy than before.

     "Well Gregory, let's go home."

And so the the animatronic and the newly adopted boy started traveling to the 'Freddy Fazbear Pizza Plex tm' where a new chapter for both of their lives will begin, but not before Freddy makes a quick detour to PetSmart for some kibble n bits for Gregory.

     That's what humans eat!

Fin...until next chapter
