Work Text:
Amelia stared at the strange rectangle in her hands. A few moments prior, she complained that she was bored, and Lucia just handed her…whatever this is, as a way to get her to shut up. It looked strange, and fragile. And some weird little…”game” was on and told her to tap. There was a square looking bird, and she believes it’s that creature is the thing Lucia said was a “chicken”.
She tapped the screen. The chicken hopped forward.
She tapped the screen some more. The chicken hopped every time she tapped. Until, the chicken got ran over by a car…
…Oh! She gets it now!
Don't get ran over by a car, got it!
Again, tap, tap, tap, went Amelia’s thumb, and hop, hop, hop went the chicken. Expect, it was much funner once she knew how what to do. She turned over to Lucia to tell her about it, but she was too busy playing wingman for Luz and Amity. Amelia huffed. Typical.
Amelia looked back towards the screen and continued to play.
She took some steps into the street.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
She could barely hear Amity asking where she’s going.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
She took a few more steps. Her chicken took a few more hops.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
The traffic light turned green. A truck was headed straight towards her.
Tap! Tap! Ta-
“AMELIA, WATCH OUT!”
Lucia’s panicked scream tore through the air. Amelia looked up for the first time in minutes. “Wha-“
SCREECH!
…She suddenly felt a white pain in her bones. Blood splattered all over. Amity, Luz’s, and Lucia’s clothes matches Lucia’s crimson red beanie. Neither Luz and Lucia dared to move. Amity couldn’t even breathe. They stared at the gorey and bloody sight in front of them. The amount of blood that sprayed out of Amelia, it looked like a fucking massacre.
”…Amelia?”
Lucia spoke. Silence was all she was met with.
…Amelia could still feel, surprisingly. And hear. She wasn’t quite dead yet. Sure, she couldn't open her eyes. She could barely breathe, she was choking on her own blood, and she’ll definitely be dead in minutes, at most.
…But she could still feel, and hear…?
She could hear Amity’s weeps, and pleads for Amelia to be okay, even though it’s obvious Amelia wasn’t making it out of this one.
She could hear Lucia cussing out and threatening the truck driver, her voice cracking as she suppresses sobs. She could also hear Luz’s distressed and desperate voice on the phone with the 911 operator.
She could feel…pain. She could feel the blood trickling down her body. She could feel her heartbeat slowing down, making an eventual stop. She could feel fear, and dread in her bones.
’I don’t want to die…?’ she thought, but she couldn’t say it out loud. Her mouth and throat are drying rapidly, it’s like her mouth doesn’t work anymore.
The last thing she felt were Amity’s tears falling on her face.
As her breathing stopped, splat! the chicken went.
