Work Text:
She strode above the clouds,
Heels clicking against the airship deck
As the all of you watched on.
Her first steps were stumbling ones
That made you reach out
As your voice caught in your throat,
The thought running by you then:
What if the magic gives out?
She caught herself though,
Steadying her walk as she always had
Even when the world seemed darkest
And she needed the help of friends.
Seeing her continue on,
You sighed out in relief, warm and soft,
As the cold winds rushed by.
Her pace quickened the next
As her strength welled up the more
And...! She ran!
She ran!
Right to the airship prow,
Arms held out against the breeze
As she gazed upon the skies beyond,
Deep blue and speckled with white.
You stood up the next,
Walking forth as she reveled in a world
That had never been open to her
Before this moment right here.
The glee of a god had ruled
For well over a year now,
But that power seemed so small
Compared to the glee of a girl
That carried you over years of guilt.
You stood beside her then,
Spying a smile upon her face
That burned brighter than any flame.
But...
Still...
Still she was not yet content
With the freedom stretching out,
So she took her ribbon down
And tossed it to the winds,
Her hair flowing freely
For the first time you’d ever seen.
And as you watched as she laughed
You knew at the moment then
That you’d stand by her side, always,
Even if you had not before,
And then you too were free.
