Work Text:

Lena slams her spellbook shut for what had to twentieth time in the hour she’s been practicing. “Dammit!” She leans forward against the table and pinches her nose, taking calculated breaths.

Two hours, two hours she’d been trying to learn this god-forsaken spell. Four hours since Kara’d first approached her and asked her, insisting that she and the team would need her help with it later on. And it was a simple spell. A few Latin words and she’d be able to, according to the book ‘be in two places at once.’ See, the plan was for Lena to essentially teleport while the team fights, and do what she could to help.

So why, why the hell was it so hard?

The ravenette decided long ago that she was not taking a single break until she’d mastered this shit. Kara needs her. The team needs her. With that on her mind, Lena opens the thick spellbook once more and takes a step back. She closes her eyes and takes multiple deep breaths, allowing her body to relax and her mind to slow. It was a method that pushed her through previous spells, so maybe it’d be helpful now.

Lena shakes out her clammy hands and recites the spell. Halfway into the spell, she begins to feel a warmth in her chest, and it spreads throughout her body. It’s a pleasant feeling, and she leans in as she continues to recite the words. Suddenly, the feeling is gone as fast as it appeared and there’s nothing but silence.

Lena pants into the quiet room, feeling exhausted. She cracks one eye open and looks around. Her shoulders slump at yet another failure. As she huffs and takes a step to close the book, she feels a wave of dizziness and just barely catches herself. “Shit!” The ravenette grips the counter but her legs give out from under her. She lands on the floor with an ‘oof,’ and groans as the tunnel vision closes further and further until…Nothing.

                             . . .

“Hey Al,” Kara skips into the DEO in a really good mood. She spots her sister messing with her phone in the med bay and takes it upon herself to say bother her. As one does.

“Kara,” the redhead greets distractedly. She’s hunched over a side table, typing furiously on her phone. Her breath hitches and she glances over her shoulder and meets her sister's curious gaze. “Hey! Back off!”

“Who’re you texting?” The blonde tries to peer over her sister's shoulder again but received the deadliest glare she’s ever seen. She holds her hand up in surrender, “Okay geesh.”

Alex sighs and tucks the phone away, “can I help you, nosey?“

“You can actually. I’m looking for Lee. I asked her to try out that teleporting spell earlier and now she isn’t texting me back.”

“She’s probably knee-deep in that spellbook by now,” the redhead sighs and waves one hand around, the other moving to dig her phone out of her pocket. “I don’t know, check the lab,” she mumbles and beams as another text comes through. That seems to be the end of the conversation as she goes back to damn near swooning at the device in her hand.

Kara huffs and makes her way to the lab. She briefly wonders if she looks like that when she texts Lena.

Upon entering the lab, the first thing Kara spots is the chunky spell book left open on a table. “Lena!” She calls out, “babe!” She receives no response and takes her phone out again, sending the woman a text.

‘Woof, woof’

The blonde gets a crinkle in her brow. That’s Lena’s ringtone, but where is it- Her breath hitches as she walks closer and sees a foot round the desk. “Baby!” She rushes forward and gasps when she spots an unconscious ravenette, her phone is askew. “Lena baby,” Kara mutters a curse and begins to panic.

Who did this? Why did they do this? And more importantly, how did they manage to escape?

“Ugh.”

The blond is brought out of her downward spiral as Lena squirms and groans in her arms. She lets out a huge deep breath, accidentally freezing the floor beneath them.

“Mmm, cold,” Lena mutters and pulls away.

“Sorry,” Kara floats them over a stray bed where Lena sometimes spends the night. “Lee, who did this to you!? I’ll bust someone’s ass-”

Lena sits up with another groan and waves her girlfriend’s threats away. “It was self-inflicted. I was trying to learn the cloning spell for the upcoming fight, and- I don’t know what happened,” she shrugs and looks at the book. “I just fainted, I guess.”

Kara nods and kisses her crown, getting up to grab the book. Maybe there was something in here that could explain why Lena looked so drained. “Okay,” the blonde sits back down next to the woman with a huff, flipping to the teleportation spell. Her eyes follow her finger as she reads. “Huh, there’s nothing here that could explain why you fainted.”

“That’s probably because you’re on the wrong page my darling,” Lena grabs the book, flipping to the spell she used, unaware of the confused look on the blonde’s face. She mumbles as she reads the page. “Nothing here either.”

“Babe,” Kara leans over and reads the page, her eyes widening with every word. “Lena, please tell me this isn’t the page you read.”

“Kara, I’ve been in this lab for hours reading this spell. I could recite it word for word,” Proving that to be true, the ravenette begins before Kara’s hand covers her mouth. “Wha, ‘ou doin?” She mutters.

“Lena, listen to me carefully. This is a cloning spell.”

“I know that Kar,” she shrugs, not taking in the panic rising in the blonde’s features. “You asked me to be in two places at once. This is nothing but a little astral projection spell.”

Kara’s mouth bobs open with a retort. Something along the lines of, ‘I suggested the teleportation spell,’ when a movement catches out of the corner of her eyes. Her mouth that had previously hung bobbing was now hung open, and her eyes decided to join the party as they practically bugged out of their sockets.

“Kara? Are you glitching out?” She twists a golden curl and snorts at her joke. “Kar?”

“Uh,” suddenly the blonde’s face is on fire. “You- you, uh,” she gulps and scrunches her face before pointing at something, or rather, someone behind Lena.

The ravenette blinks at her before spinning to see what the commotion was about. One second later and her face was a carbon copy of Kara’s.

On the other side of the room, standing naked as a jaybird, and looking at the couple with equal shock and confusion was…Lena Luthor. The clone takes a step closer but hisses at the cold floor. She sees her naked reflection in the ice and lets out a shrill scream. “AH!” She flushes red, everywhere, and covers herself with her arms the best she can.

Her scream triggered Kara and Lena, who also began screaming. Why? They don’t know, this whole situation was bizarre. The sounds of what Alex and her agents thought was bloody murder triggered them as soon enough they were in the lab as well, guns blazing.

“Put your hands in the air now!- What the fuck!” Alex puts her weapon down, yelling at her team to leave the room. Her face is red as she shrugs off her jacket and tosses it at the naked woman. She averts her eyes, mumbling to herself. “Wow, I can see what Kara sees in you…”

“Hey!”

Alex jumps and points her weapon at the sudden voice. “Kara!” She opens her mouth to ask why Lena was butt-ass naked when- She stands up straighter, head cocked and eyes fluttering between her sister and her two girlfriends. She lets out a sigh and closes her eyes, “you know what- no.” She turns to leave the room, not even entertaining the idea of helping.

“You can keep the jacket Lena two!”

Notes:

bye imagining the three of them just screaming at each other has me 💀

this'll be a one-shot until I've finished up some of the other works I have uncompleted - having multiple ones out at once makes me feel like I HAVE to finish them
