Work Text:
Yoongi never felt like he deserved Taehyung. The way the younger man's eyes watched him every practice, every performance, every interview, every time they spoke, like he was the only person in the world at that moment. His eyes twinkled with adoration and intent. Surely Yoongi didn’t deserve that.
But whether he deserved it or not didn’t matter, not to Taehyung, because Yoongi was Taehyung’s entire world. Taehyung never had to find out that he loved Yoongi, it had been there from the moment they met, all those years ago. Yoongi hadn’t been surprised when he fell for the other, because a part of him believed they’d loved each other their whole lives, however impossible.
Taehyung had told Yoongi once over the phone, when Yoongi was on break for recovery, that when he missed him he would look up at the stars, “They remind me of you, you both shine so brightly,” he had told him. Yoongi had brushed it off at that moment. He cried for ten minutes after he hung up.
When Yoongi had streamed during recovery he was overcome by a dizzying amount of emotion, an overwhelming amount of love rose up from ARMY and he’d fallen back into Taehyung’s arms the minute they got a moment alone and he cried. Taehyung had just held him, silently, until he could breathe evenly, and when he looked up into the younger man’s eyes Taehyung whispered, “There’s stardust in your eyes, hyung,” and Yoongi had never felt more loved.
Taehyung was the brightest person Yoongi had ever met, ever since they were trainees, pre-debut. He was a hard worker and it showed in his every moment, his every note, he practically glowed in the way he smiled, shining with sweat, when he finally got the choreography just right. Yoongi was often made fun of for the way he watched Taehyung when he spoke, but how could he not when his vision was filled with a boxy smile and kind eyes?
