ice skates and first kisses

Summary:

“We can’t go home for Christmas, but being with you feels like home. You make me miss Daegu a little less and I thought maybe I did the same for you…” his puppy dog eyes meet Yoongi’s sharp ones and Yoongi turns his gaze away.

“Fine,” Yoongi sighs, “I’ll go to the Grand Hyatt Seoul Ice Rink with you.”

Work Text:

There’s no going home this Christmas, it’s too busy, but they were granted Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off for themselves. Because they couldn’t leave Seoul, they’d be spending Christmas together, which none of them minded, but they all miss their families.

Taehyung pouts, grabbing Yoongi’s hands and holding them in between the two men pleadingly, “Please, hyung!”

“I just don’t get why you want me to go with you,” Yoongi deadpans, and Taehyung smiles shyly.

Taehyung cheers and lunges forward to hug him, Yoongi’s arms limp at his side but the warmth is welcome.

And gone far too soon. It’s freezing . Yoongi shivers. Taehyung laughs at him, “What?”

“You look so cute, Yoongi hyung,” Taehyung coos. Yoongi blushes beneath his puffy coat and tucks his face into the plush scarf wrapped around his neck and part of his chin.

“Shut up,” he hurries past Taehyung who laughs again and follows quickly.

Yoongi isn’t an ice skater, but he’s skated before, and can stay steady on his feet at least. Taehyung, on the other hand, is hardly even good enough for that. The minute they’re on the ice he stumbles and falls. Yoongi forces away the concerned expression on his face, replacing it with one of nonchalant amusement.

“You invited me to go ice skating and you don’t know how to ice skate?” Yoongi chuckles, helping the younger of the two up.

Taehyung shrugs, “I guess you’ll just have to hold my hand so I don’t fall,” he grins cheekily. Yoongi rolls his eyes but takes Taehyung’s hand anyway, squeezing it tightly.

“Don’t let go, okay?” Yoongi smiles lightly beneath his scarf, carefully pulling Taehyung along on the ice.

“Unfair, hyung!” Taehyung whines, cheeks bright red, “I was trying to make you flustered!”

“Try harder,” Yoongi laughs, spinning around to skate backwards, holding both Taehyung’s hands, “Careful.”

For the last few weeks they’ve been aware of one another’s feelings for each other, but it hasn’t really changed anything. They’ve just stopped masking their flirting as teasing, but they weren’t together. Just friends who loved each other and knew it.

Taehyung falls again, but Yoongi keeps him steady by locking his legs and catching Taehyung in a hug, “Sorry,” Taehyung breathes, arms draped over Yoongi’s shoulders, their faces close together, “I guess I fell for you.”

Yoongi blushes this time, ducking his face into Taehyung’s chest, “I said to be careful.”

“Woah. That silly line actually got to you?”

“Shut up,” Yoongi pushes away and laughs, “We came here to skate, so let’s skate.”

Later, during their walk home, Taehyung’s laughing, “I still can’t believe that cheesy pick up line made you blush!”

“That cheesy pick up line didn 't make blush,” Yoongi elbows him lightly in the ribs.

“It totally did, your face was so red!”

“It was,” Yoongi agrees, “Not because of the pick up line though.”

“The cold then?”

“Nope.”

“Then what?”

“You were so close to my face and I realized how badly I wanted to kiss you,” Yoongi’s voice stays light and casual but Taehyung hears the embarrassment seep into his tone.

Taehyung stops, turning to Yoongi with pink cheeks. Yoongi fights the urge to duck away from eye contact, “Oh.”

“Oh?” Yoongi laughs nervously. Taehyung wraps his arms around Yoongi’s waist, hugging him tightly. Yoongi really hopes he isn’t crying.

“I love you so much,” Taehyung giggles, hot breath tracing Yoongi’s cheek as it circulates back up from Yoongi’s shoulder.

“I love you too,” Yoongi smiles.

Taehyung pulls away, blushing, arms still on Yoongi’s waist, “Can I kiss you?” Yoongi just hums back, nodding, and stands on his tiptoes to reach Taehyung’s lips.

They’re warm, and soft, contrasting Yoongi’s cold ones that are always rough from the way he chews on them when he’s focused, but Taehyung doesn’t mind. The kiss is slow, and light, and innocent, and when Taehyung pulls away he rests their foreheads together.

“You’re so short,” he grins, and Yoongi slaps the back of his head lightly.

“Shut up.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”
