Work Text:
Monica found herself dreaming about her last assignment. It may surprise both angels and humans alike that angels dream, occasionally falling. She'd been assigned to help a mother and daughter mend their bond. It seemed like an easy enough assignment. She'd done that a few times before. However, this time it would be different.
She'd done her best to integrate herself into her case's lives. Claiming she had been called in as a mediator for intervention on their behalf. Which honestly wasn't a lie. However, she quickly realized that mother and daughter were at each other throats. And for a good reason.
The mother wouldn't listen to her daughter whenever she brought up the abusive and unfair treatment she'd received from her and the entire family. Her mother, on the other hand? Flat out denied she'd ever disrespected or abused her daughter and that it was all in her head to stop telling lies.
Monica did her best to help them. However, even an angel can't help someone unwilling to listen or change. When did she see the abuse firsthand? The mother refused to acknowledge her abusive ways. So the daughter's issues were never resolved because the other party wouldn't own up to their mistakes.
Reluctantly Monica went to Tess and tried to explain she couldn't help these people. However, Tess didn't listen until she almost got hurt herself. They were screamed at as well. In the end? Neither mother nor daughter would accept God's help. Sadly it is a fact that sometimes even an angel fails.
