Work Text:

Damian can't sleep.

His hands clenched the soft fabric of his blanket in anger. The tower felt hauntingly silent, and he couldn't stand it.

He tugged the blanket off of his body and sat up straight on the bed.

"Must I suffer like this?" He thought.

Damian fought the urge to climb out of bed and run to Dick's room for comfort, immediately hating that it was something he had considered for even a moment.

He looked back at his mattress and glared at it, exhaustion clouding his eyes.

He rolled his tounge around his mouth, feeling the stickiness. He decided, "I just need a glass of water, then I'll fall asleep."

Damian pushed himself off the bed and walked to the kitchen. Before he grabbed the pitcher from the fridge, he looked over at Raven's room.

Something drew him in, but he'll never admit what it was.

He closed the fridge and quietly walked over to the bedroom door. He knocked gently, knowing how she liked her privacy.

There was a click of the lock on the other side of the door. Damian took that as a sign and walked into her bedroom.

"Damian?" She whispered, confused. Damian immediately tensed.

"I seem to be having trouble sleeping tonight."

A long pause.

"Oka-"

"Do you mind if I sleep in here?" He interrupted.

Raven lifted her duvet and nodded. Damian speed-walked over to her bedside and stiffly climbed in, replacing her hands on the duvet with his.

"Thank you, Raven"

She nodded slowly and sunk down into her pillow, turning on her side.

Sleep started to catch up to him, and before he knew it, his eyes had closed.

"Dick, you can't leave me here!" For once in his life, he'd sounded helpless.

"I have better things to do, Damian. All you do is push people away."

"I can change! I swear I can-"

"Change!" Damian shot up from his place on the bed. A dark cloud of magic sitting above his head and seeping directly from Raven. His hand was reached out in front of him.

He calmed his breathing and regretfully climbed out of the duvet. Was she having a nightmare, as well? He decided against waking her up, instead walking to the door without a sound.

The room next to Raven's was Garfield's. Damian winced at the thought of even stepping foot, much less sleeping in his room.

The stench of dirty, wild animals seeped through under his door.

Damian took a deep breath and cracked the door open. He immediately regretted it as red flooded his face.

Seeing Garfield Logan totally naked was not something he enjoyed. At all.

He ran away from the room as quckly and as quietly as possible. He looked to his left and saw Jaime's door past his shoulder.

Without hesitation, he pulled the door open and walked to the side of the bed. He heard a quiet buzzing noise coming from the bug on Jaime's back, but chose to ignore it.

Damian grabbed a discarded pillow from the floor, laying it at the foot of the bed. He pulled the cover over his body and slowly closed his eyes. Suddenly, the beetle made a loud chirping noise, startling Damian out of his sleepy trance.

Another chirp, a click, and other noises started coming from under Jaime's pajama shirt. The noises started to become repetitive. Damian covered his head with the pillow and growled.

"How does he fall asleep with all of this noise surrounding him?"

Once the bug started to scream, Damian relented and finally left Jaime's room, scoffing when the noises immediately quieted.

He looked up to the ceiling and sighed in defeat. He rubbed his eyes and slowly trudged up the stairs, finally making it to the most desirable room.

Dick and Kori's room was the largest out of all the bedrooms in Titans Tower. They had decorated it together to make it feel like home.

Damian saw the couple tangled together in the middle of their large bed and smiled. It wasn't too long ago that he'd told Dick he'd approved of his relationship with Kori. He gave into his need for comfort and climbed over Dick's side of the bed and into the middle.

Being a bat, Dick woke up immediately and saw Damian trying to get comfortable in their tangle of limbs. He moved his arms to give his brother some more room.

"What brings you here, Lil' D? He whispered with a smile.

"Don't patronize me, Richard. My room is too quiet," he looked over to the sleeping woman on his left, "and I can't sleep."

"That's okay, Dami. You're always welcome here." Dick said and ruffled his hair. Damian lightly smacked his hand away.

Dick got comfortable once Damian finally stopped squirming, bringing his arm to rest behind his own head and wrapping the other around Damian.

"G'night." He muttered and closed his eyes.

Damian felt the warmth radiating from both sides, especially from Kori. Dick is lucky to have his own personal heater whenever he gets cold.

He felt a hand reach across his stomach, wrapping around Dick's. He looked up at Kori and saw her eyes glowing faintly in the darkness. She adjusted her long curls and kissed Damian lightly on the cheek before falling asleep again.

Damian felt a small smile grow on his face as he closed his eyes for the final time that night.
