Chapter Text
“You're staring again.”
I-sak's voice brought On-jo back to reality, she faced her best friend and asked, “What?”
“You've been staring at Nam-ra for the past couple of minutes, you're basically drooling right now,” she said while trying to hold her laughter.
On-jo wiped her mouth, worrying that I-sak had been right and that she had been drooling the whole time looking at her crush. Trying to play it cool, On-jo coughed and said, “I wasn't staring... I was just... just admiring the view!”
Real smooth. On-jo said internally.
“I take it Nam-ra is the view?”
“Stop that! Why would I look at her anyway?” On-jo whined, looking at her best friend as if she had grown an extra head.
“You're right, On-jo,” I-sak said, smirking. “After all, what would you ever see in Nam-ra?” she continued dramatically.
On-jo practically jumped out of her seat, and yelled out, “WHAT? Nam-ra is amazing! She's beautiful, and smart, and-”
She stopped mid-track as she realised that the classroom had gotten quiet (except for the sound of I-sak's laughter) and everyone's eyes are on her, including the class president.
Slowly, she sat back down and buried her head underneath her hands, hoping that it was all a dream and she did not just embarassed herself like that. She knew she wasn't an intelligent girl, but this was next-level stupidity even for her.
“On-jo, I think you should get up,” her best friend said, poking On-jo's body. Was she not done teasing her? On-jo knew telling I-sak about her crush on Nam-ra was a mistake.
“I don't want to... Even if there's a zombie apocalypse, I don't want to get up,” On-jo replied. At this point, she wished that a zombie would burst through the door of the classroom and bite everyone... Maybe except for Nam-ra and her. Then, they can finally be alone together and profess their undying love for each other. After that they'll even make out and-
“So you won't get up even if I'm the one that ask you to?” A familiar voice said, startling On-jo from her gay thoughts. Slowly, she raised her head and looked at the direction of the voice.
It was Nam-ra. Nam-ra was looking at her, with that cool look on her face that On-jo loves so much, and oh, she looks so much more beautiful from this angle...
Wait! That's not important! On-jo slapped her own face, startling both I-sak and Nam-ra.
“What did you do that for?!” I-sak said while clutching her chest, trying to calm her heart.
On-jo ignored her and instead focused her gaze towards Nam-ra. “I swear it's not what you think it is...” she said, her cheeks starting to redden. On-jo hopes silently that it's due to her slapping herself instead of whatever this feeling is that Nam-ra is making her feel.
“Meet me on the rooftop after school ends, we need to talk,” Nam-ra said, her voice not containing even an ounce of emotions in it.
Still looking at Nam-ra, On-jo nodded shyly.
“Good,” Nam-ra said and walked back to her seat. On-jo could have sworn she saw Nam-ra smiling for a split second, but it must be a trick of the light. After all, Nam-ra never smiled, not at anyone and especially not at her.
As On-jo was about to get mad at her best friend, the teacher entered the classroom and I-sak ran back to her seat while shooting On-jo an apologetic look, mouthing that she'll make it up for her later.
After they greeted the teacher, the class started but On-jo couldn't focus on anything that was being taught. All she could think about was her meeting with Nam-ra later. What could the class president want from her? Is she going to tell On-jo off and say that she's not interested in her?
Whatever it is, On-jo can't help but feel anxious as she tried once again to focus on the class to distract her mind from Nam-ra.
Instead, the thoughts of Nam-ra ended up distracting her mind the entire day.
