Since the Ancient Era when Ninshuu was spreading its philosophy and the connectivity of chakra through chakra transfer, one of the first known instances of medical ninjutsu being invented was when Kanna, Asura's future wife, was among the first to develop the Mystical Palm Technique that became the first of its kind and learned by Asura, as well, creating a legacy of medical ninjutsu that would become the Senju's Hiden for centuries.
While their legacy was one they assured, as ninjutsu became codified and the abilities of ninja commodified for the highest bidder, the Senju in their spirit of love decided to create a balance between the two and spread medical ninjutsu on a limited but still generous basis that would allow clans who could afford the steep tuition to send a worthy candidate with good acumen and chakra control to the Senju's capital, Sennan, where they would learn a large variety of subjects and jutsu that include, but aren't limited to:

Refining chakra control. Though one must be born with adequate chakra control, it often happens that simply possessing it isn't enough. Through months of strenuous training, prospective healers must work diligently to refine their chakra control to a satisfactory point before beginning even the most basic medical ninjutsu. In addition, they must acquire or strengthen their ability with Yang Release from which all medical ninjutsu derives. Exercises can include Leaf Concentration, genjutsu nullification, and using Yang Release to heal basic things such as a plant stimulated to grow. Because of Hashirama's expertise, he was the one who helped codify many healing techniques that came to influence modern healers.

Advanced biomedical knowledge. Another area a healer must develop is knowledge of the human body, diseases, herbs, medicines, and other areas typically completed in the timeframe needed to cultivate chakra control. Optionally, a healer can chose to learn about poisons to become an expert apothecary as part of their concentrations. Because of Tobirama's specialty in this area, before Tsunade's time was he the most renowned biomedical scientist in the world whose findings influenced Tsunade to become as prolific as she was.

Knowledge of poisons & herbs. Although they might go hand-in-hand with what a healer must know, the extensiveness of what can be known often means that concentrating it on alone can take more skill than some healers can manage and is oftentimes beyond what most need to know. Such apothecaries oftentimes have secondary roles in partnering with a healer in their work.
- Seal-based healing. While a concentration mostly reserves for solely Uzumaki and Senju apprentices, with their naturally potent chakra can they use seals to help regulate the flow as well as other uses such as stabilizing, flesh regeneration, and more. Mito Uzumaki was its main developer and helped create teachable material in conjunction to her husband's skills.
Of course, while a healer's repertoire can be exhaustive, it's learning medical ninjutsu that is rarer. As one can imagine, the Senju reserve almost all dominion over almost all medical ninjutsu and consider it part of their Hiden, letting clans utilize what's taught to healers on a commission basis. Chakra Scalpel: One of the staples, this technique allows the user to use chakra to form a blade that allows them to make non-invasive incisions. This can then be used for highly accurate incisions necessary for surgeries and anatomical dissections. Unlike regular scalpels, the chakra scalpel can make cuts inside the body without actually creating an open wound, limiting the risks of an infection.

Healing Resuscitation Regeneration Technique: An advanced technique that requires extensive chakra and finite chakra control, as well as several users, this technique allows for restorative surgery to regenerate injured parts of the body. Because of how chakra-taxing it is, it's usually reserved for Senju & Uzumaki healers only.

Healing Technique: A lower level version of the Mystical Palm Technique, by concentrating healing chakra into an orb, it's able to heal all levels of external wounds, but not internal ones or those of advanced severity.

Mystical Palm Technique: The swiss army knife of medical ninjutsu, unless the patient is close to dying, it allows the user to heal many levels of external and internal injuries.
- Wide Healing: A semi-advanced healing technique, it allows the user to heal several people at once so long as the wounds are minor or superficial, like bruises, scrapes, burns, and more.
