Work Text:

it's definitely not normal to come back to a quiet mansion. Juni carefully stepped into the seemingly bloody hallway, carefully looking around.

"..Hello..? Uh...I'm back!"

really? no one? they never really expected to be greeted anyway, but at least seeing someone around was nice. they checked their bag, then glanced to the list to make sure they got everything before deciding to head to their room before anything. Juni kept their guard up, one hand in front of them and ready to use their magic if needed. coming to a corner, they stopped short and peeked their head out incase of anything. nothing. actually it was something. a giant purple lizard and a man who was on the floor surrounded by blood. Juni had never seen these people before, well, person and lizard. they weren't supposed to be seen by others than the cleaners, and a few housekeepers they knew. plus the big boss. En. the man who actually let them have a place here at the mansion. all those years of submitting their magic at Blue Night really paid off. that, and they broke something while sneaking around, so they were tasked with working to pay it off. Juni shook their head and focused back on the scene, watching as the lizard crushed what looked like a head, the man visibly upset before they became a short sorcerer, nothing but minced meat in the sorcerers hands. Juni waited a minute till they were done talking before making a rash decision and revealing themselves.

"A-Are you okay?"

the man on the baseball outfit (strange) screamed loudly when he noticed them, causing Juni to take a step back as he hid behind the other sorcerer.

"W-Who are you?!"

"Not important! You look really bad, what happened?! I-I saw you-"

They pointed to the sorcerer in the skull mask.

"As a lizard! A-And i mean-"

they stopped when they noticed the skull wearing sorcerer seemed to walk away, leaving the tengu like wearing one to stare, confused and still a bit scared. Fujita himself was awfully confused, he'd never seen this person in his life, yet they were in the mansion and no one seemed to care. of course, no guards were even around for that. were they an intruder? only one way to find out, even though he was hurt, he raised his hand and pointed at them.

"E-Explain why where you're here! Quickly or I-I'll use my magic!"

he hoped they couldn't see he was sweating a bit, since if they were dangerous, he wouldn't be able to do much with his weak magic. not to mention, he had no idea what sort of magic they had! but thankfully, Juni wasn't even paying attention, too busy digging through their bag to find bandages and some healing magic they had.

"Uh, i've got some healing magic, a little bit though. Bandages if you ne-"

then they noticed he assumed they were a intruder and was threatening to use his magic. it didn't really bother them, since it was the normal reaction for someone who didn't know they existed. Juni panicked a bit, patting their pockets before pulling out a small mushroom that had a bird keychain attached to it.

"I-I work here! For....uh...Mr.En of course-!"

he squinted at the mushroom, that was much like the one he had. except he didn't have a bird keychain attached to that. he wondered if customization was allowed as he took small steps towards them.

"For Mr.En? But i've never seen you before."

it is a big mansion. Fujita hasn't even seen a good part of it. but he has met most people. at least he thinks so. but with how they dressed, bright shirt and dark pants, and a colorful mask? he was positive he'd remember someone like that. Juni took off their mask, clipping it to their belt, hands up in defense.

"Well...it's hard t' explain, but you're not supposed t' see me. I'm a rare case, really..But i swear i'm not intrudin'! I was just getting stuff for my boss, an' I came back t' this.."

they gestured to the bloody walls and broken windows. Fujita sighed, wincing as he lowered his hand. they didn't seem to be lying, nor did they look really...dangerous. as soon as he lowered his hand Juni stepped forward to use the healing magic on him, causing him to jump back. they chuckled a bit, smiling as they put their mask back on, holding out a hand.

"Maybe I should introduce myself.."

"Wait, wait! I have a bunch of questions!"

Fujita racked his brain for a good starting question as Juni observed his wounds, then nodded.

"Ask away. You got some glass stuck in your arm, by the way."

as soon as they pointed it out, Fujita glanced to his arm and panicked. Juni probably should've taken it out before healing him. they grabbed his arm, carefully taking out the glass and tossing it aside, putting a bandaid on his arm. he'd completely forgotten about any questions by the time it was over.

"Oh. It...hurts less. Thanks."

"Yea, no problem...what's your name-?"

Fujita blinked, thinking for a moment. the whole situation made him completely forgot his name. of course it did! he was meeting someone new! a potential friend! in the hopes they didn't get brutally slaughtered. he was wondering if he should be allowed to even have friends because of his luck. Juni cleared

"Uh...My name? Oh! Right! My name! I-It's Fujita. You?"

"It's Juni. Short for Juniper. I think...?"

they shrugged, before holding out a hand for him to shake. again. Fujita glanced at their arm, noticing a bunch of small scars that ran up to a point and abruptly stopped. he knew he shouldn't have stared, but he just couldn't help it.

"You good? Uh...something wrong..?"

"Oh! N-No, no I just..sorry, sorry."

He took their hand, a nervous smile on his face as he shook it, hoping he didn't look like too of an idiot. again. Juni then looked at the small mass of what they assumed to be flesh in his hand.

"What's that?"

the poor boy almost started sobbing right there. he looked at the flesh then at Juni , who was able to see that he was upset. with a very broken voice, he responded weakly to said question.

"M-My...best f-friend..."

"Oh...sorry.."

neither of them enjoyed the awkward silence after that. Juni wasn't really sure what else to say, what do you even say to someone who's .... well it didn't look good. the silence was interrupted by a phone. Juni's. they pulled it from their pocket to glance at it, before frowning.

"I gotta go. Guess something important happened, so i'll probably see you again. You should probably go find your friend."

with that, they turned around and left without saying anything else. Fujita was left very dumbfounded, and even more confused. but, the meeting didn't go so bad. so hopefully, he had a chance at a new friend. with the added potential of it being something more
