Work Text:
Jake was nervously sipping on his drink while eyeing you, chatting with Aisha. Clay wanted everyone together for the New Year. Since everyone in a relationship had kept to themselves and their holidays for the past few months.
“You going to stare all night?” Clay chuckled beside Jake.
“Um, yeah, I mean-” he sighed before downing the rest of his beer. “No, I’m going to go talk to her.” He said it with a lot of confidence, yet his feet only slightly shuffled.
“Try before midnight Romeo, tonight might your best shot. You two are the only two singles here.” Clay patted Jensen on the shoulder before walking up to the women, wrapping an arm around Aisha, easily joining their conversation.
“Pathetic,” Cougar snickered, but Jake knew from his tone, it was jokingly.
“Where’s your partner?”
“With their family, they aren’t ready to meet you losers.”
“So, no midnight kiss for you, either?” Jake cracked open another beer, taking a large gulp, as you let your head fall back with a laugh while Aisha elbowed Clay. The couple walked away from you, letting you stare at the falling snow.
“No, but we’re not superstitious like that,” Cougar nudged Jake towards you. He stumbled a bit before taking in an anxious breath. Quickly grabbing your favorite beer and walking over to you finally.
“So, do you like the snow?” Jake sighed internally as he handed you the unopened beer.
“I like the idea of it, sweaters and getting warm and cozy,” you took the drink while eyeing the heavy sweater he had on. It was really nice, not something you’d usually see Jake in.
“Oh, my sister,” he gestured to it. “Said I needed something nicer to wear than my usual holiday getup.”
Small memories of all of his cheesy and nerdy winter appeal flashed through your mind. “I like both, but I want to steal this one. It looks warmer than your fun ones.”
“It is,” he quickly placed down his glass before fluidly taking it off. “Here, you look cold, ah well, I mean, it’d look better on you. Or um I’m getting too warm, but you look cold.” His eyes drifted down to your chest, where he could see the smallest bud of your nipple through your shirt and bra.
“Jake,” you playfully chastised, setting down your drink as well, before taking his sweater and slipping it on.
“Not that I mind, happy to see any part of you,” he gulped while watching you adjust it. He did love getting a glimpse of your nipples through your clothes. But he had to shuffle his pants a bit when you weren’t looking. Because seeing you in his clothes was a wet dream come true.
“It is very warm,” you hummed before hugging yourself and looking back out to fresh snow.
“Do you want to go outside and enjoy the snow?”
“As I said, I like the idea of it. Don’t want to go out and play in it.”
“There’s a bench outside, we could steal a blanket and enjoy it that way.”
“I think I’d be okay without the blanket, since I’ve got your sweater.”
Jake wasn’t going to let this pass, he turned around as smoothly as he could to grab a throw off the back of a nearby chair. Wrapping it around himself. “Alright let’s go then,” he gave a sweet smile while trying to gentle herd you to the front door.
“Why are you going with my blanket?” Aisha called out, just as he opened the door for you.
Jake gave her a nervous glance over his shoulder. “Just outside for a bit, won’t let anything bad happen to it.”
“You get any fluids on it and I’ll gut you,” Aisha smirked as he simply nodded then quickly looked away. Shuffling you both outside and closing the door behind himself.
“What does she mean fluids? We left our drinks inside. She must be drunk already,” you laughed softly before sitting down on the bench, making sure to pull the sweater down a bit to protect your butt from a quick bite of cold.
“Hah, yeah,” he gulped nervously before sitting down next to you. He kept glancing at you from the corner of his eye, while you followed random snowflakes.
“It’s so serene,” you smiled before sitting back a bit soaking in the muffled music and chatter from inside the house with soft snowfall. “It’s beautiful.”
“Yeah, you are,” Jake sighed absentmindedly then froze when you looked at him. “I mean it is! I mean shit-” he groaned before looking at the ground. Shivering a bit when the wind flurried around some snowflakes.
“Maybe we should share the blanket. You know, for warmth,” the loving glint in your eyes. Made his heart jump to his throat as he quickly undid his wrap. Opening it for you; too nervous to pulling you to his side, or even moving more for that matter.
A soft exhale from you, showed you were biting back a laugh as you sat in his lap. Legs on either side of his, leaning your back to his chest. Guiding his arms to close around you.
Jensen’s heart was hammering as he willed himself to relax, tightening his arms around you. Sighing happily as you rested your head against his jawline. Some of your hair tickled his ear as he rested it against your head.
“This is much warmer,” he commented while breathing deeply.
“Nice and cozy, just how I like it.”
“I like you,” Jake flexed his fingers while keeping his voice level.
“I like you too, Jake,” you pulled back a bit to give him a timid smirk.
Jensen must have pleased some deity as he got the perfect cheesy moment of staring into your gorgeous eyes. As a distance yell and pop of fireworks sound, signaled midnight.
He didn’t mean to time this kiss and he’d dreamed about it being so intense and passionate. But the reality was better.
Your plush lips tenderly against his, celebrating yells and firecrackers echoing in the background, as he deepened it. Adjusting to cradle the back of your neck, gliding his lightly chapped lips caressed yours.
“Happy New Year, JJ,” you whispered against his lips.
“Happy doesn’t even cover it,” he rested his forehead against yours. Holding you tightly.
