The Rise of Axel
Chapter 1: The Woman who Remembers the Man
It was 15 years ago when I last saw him. It was like a dream I've never encountered before...
Standing alone on the beach waiting for her friend, Kairi finger combs her hair in contempt, thinking that her friend would not come back for her, but a familiar voice comes pouring in from out of nowhere.
"Maybe...maybe isn't good enough."
My thoughts exactly!
A voice comes seeping into the portal like an angel from heaven but not from there.
If you have a dream, don't think. Act! One of life's little rules.
It was none other than the man Kairi met years ago--the red hair, the green eyes, and the attitude that went along with it. Kairi knew she haven't encountered someone quite as him until now. Her face was filled with worry, thinking she won't remember him or his name in the process. Kairi asks the man if he would like to take a little walk with her and he replied with a solemn 'yes' and walks alongside Kairi.
As the two walked, they stopped at a cafe where they went for some espresso. The people around them were concerned that the prediction would come true if someone remembers or knows his name, he will become immortal by being inside their memories forever.
"There's no way this man could be...him...isn't it?" said one person.
"I got a bad feeling someone's gonna say the name", said another.
Everyone was fearing the worst is yet about to come. Half of them wanted to leave because of the man's ulterior motives, the rest of them avoiding the prediction altogether. Hushed murmurs surrounding the man and Kairi throughout the town and Kairi's starting to wonder if she is the one who remembers him most.
"What am I doing? Why is he trying to tell me?" she sighed with regret as she turns away from the cloaked man. The man attempts to get her attention by telling her his backstory, a backstory that which makes the revelations begin to unravel.
"Kairi", said the cloaked man, "do you remember why am I here for a reason?"
"No. Why'd you asked me that?"
"It's because I have a purpose."
"A purpose?"
"Yes. A purpose that which makes me recognizable. When I came into the world, my parents gave me a name that would never be forgotten..."
"A name? What is it? What name did they gave you?"
Kairi was hesitant at first, she wanted the answers only she can tell him...but when she took a glance, her eyes began to fix on his as well. Then, a flicker came rushing in like a bolt-a flashback of her standing on the beach waiting and a voice cuts through the waves.
If you have a dream, don't just think. Act!
Kairi tried to forget the memory, but more and more of them came through. The cloaked man smiled secretly as Kairi struggled to forget this memory but notices something that made her remember a while back.
"Why...? Why am I remembering these things...?"
Kairi tried to contain herself from screaming, then all of a sudden, before the cloaked man reveals his face, he then tells her his name in a quiet voice, "I know you're trying... you've tried to find the answers within your heart...but..."
"But...?" Kairi repeated.
"You already remembered me..."
"...Do you?"
Kairi gasped in shock as she opened her eyes to see who is behind the cloak...she now knows the man who she met years ago.
"No...! It can't be! Y-you're...you're...!"
"That's right!" The man removes his hood, revealing the red hair and the green eyes to Kairi; Kairi is in a state of shock as she tries to force herself from saying his name but the emotions got the best of her.
"Y-your name...i-is..."
"Go on..."
"...A...A...x..."
"Yes..."
"A...A...Axel..."
"Thank you. Now that you finally remembered my name, I am inside your memories forever...along with all the others!" he said with a smirk.
The man walked away as a stunned Kairi sits there in sorrow and remembers not only the name, but those who remember the name--and those who dare know him, he'll be in their memories...
That man...
...known as...
Axel.
