Work Text:
It was customary for men of status to give gifts to their chosen partner, so when the apothecary found imported tea and a raven skull neatly placed at her door tied with a red and orange bow respectively, she knew her little boy was catching eyes. He was only twelve when the gifts started and his suitors made their identities known as the boy turned sixteen.
Izuku was protected by his mom as an omega, but was knowledgeable in ways she couldn't control. He knew that his suitors wanted to mate and pup him and that's why he received the thoughtful gifts. They wanted to win his favor for themselves. He never quite understood why they came at the same time though.
Wouldn't alphas fight if they were trying to win the same omega?
His 16th birthday had come and he was working the backroom, prepping tonics and salves for sale and use with the sick in town, when the doorbell chimed. The signal of customers that his mom would deal with. He would stay in the back, boiling teas and portioning willow bark, making little noise so his mom could focus.
So he was surprised when she called him to the front. "Izuku, honey, you have visitors!" Her voice was strained, so he worried if the council was here to kick him out like they'd threatened him for years. His studies in magic and healing scared the council since their power over the town might be replaced by a magic healer.
They were superstitious old men.
Izuku walked to the front, putting away his apron and cleaning his hands before stepping past the curtain. "I'm here, mom. Who is it?" A slightly rhetorical question as the two men were the only people aside from his mother in the shop, but it gave her the chance to introduce the visitors.
The men were stunning in their travelling clothes. A red cape resting over a blue vest adorned a man with halved red and white hair while his companion with spiky blond hair wore a red button down shirt over tanned leather pants. Both were alphas if his nose didn't mislead him.
"Dear, these are the young Lords of Vale Cross. Lords Shoto and Katsuki came to see you of all people." Her last statement cut him, but he didn't let it show in front of the nobles.
Shoto stepped forward and bowed to Izuku. "Congratulations on your birthday, Izuku. Since you are now of age to court, my partner and I would like to share your time. You seem to enjoy our gifts to you."
"Oh, of course! You didn't have to send so many expensive things!"
Katsuki decided to speak up at that, an impatient scowl on his face. "I told him as much! Pretentious bastard had to get expensive shit for you even after seeing how you liked my gift better."
Shoto put his hand up for a chance to speak. "Ms. Midoriya, we would like to court your son. If you and your son approve, of course."
"You may, I just want him home by dark. And no funny business until you marry!"
"Mom!" Izuku's red face turns to the men waiting for him. Shoto looked unamused, like he would never, and Katsuki looked personally attacked. "Two handsome Lords? How could I refuse? When do you plan on taking me out?"
Shoto listened to both Midoriya's before answering. "We wouldn't dare, ma'am." He turned to Izuku. "Today was our first planned outing, but if you are otherwise occupied…"
"I'm mos'ly finished with my duties. Let me ge' shomething clean to wear." With that, excitement coursed through Izuku and he bounded through the back curtain again. He only took a minute to wash his face before changing into his public attire. A clean white shirt, emerald vest, tan pants, and his favorite red shoes.
He ran until he reached the curtain, composing himself and walking through like he hadn't been jumping around in his room with his hand stitched bear toy. He gave a light bow to the boys before approaching them. "Lord Shoto and Lord Katsh- Katshu- Kacchan. My apologies, my Lord. My tongue catches on some sounds. I hope I don't offend."
"What are we, fucking babies?" Izuku recoiled, but Shoto put his hand on Katsuki's shoulder before he could go any farther.
"Kats, manners. A minor speech impediment isn't an insult to your bloodline. I find it endearing." Shoto turns to Izuku and takes his hand. "Shall we?"
A nod is the response Shoto gets and Katsuki takes Izuku's other hand. A short apology barely crosses Katsuki's lips as they start to walk.
Katsuki looked at Izuku. "I'll only accept the nickname if I can have one for you, Izuku."
"That'sh okay. I think I like Kacchan."
"Good, Deku. You'll find that I'm the better of us."
---
It had been nearly 2 years of weekly outings and chaste kisses, scenting and dinner. The spring before his 18th year, the Noble alphas took him to a meadow and kissed his cheeks. Katsuki was the first to speak.
"This is a special meadow, Deku. Long before I was even a thought, my parents came here. They were courting as we are and my sire asked the question that led to my eldest brothers being born." Katsuki huffed and ran a hand through his hair. "My family says this meadow is full of magic, but I think it's you that has brought the magic for us."
Izuku's breath caught as Katsuki sank to a knee. A small white, silk bag was pulled from the 21 year old Katsuki's pocket and a ring was slid out. "Deku, baby, be mine for the rest of our fucking days?"
Izuku could only giggle at the curse word in such a monumental question. "Yes, Kacchan. You take such good care of me." He offered his left hand and had the thin, silver ring placed on his ring finger, a fire opal, cut so beautifully, set off center. Its orange color was so much like Katsuki's favorite color. "Kacchan, it's beautiful. Thank you." He hugged the alpha and kissed his jaw before getting tapped on the shoulder.
He could only mutter “oh no” as he turned around to his more spendthrift alpha. Shoto was already on his knee, a small box in his hand. “Izuku, you caught my eye the first time I toured your small town as a 15 year old sent out here by my father. I was having a sour day and a small, green-haired boy offered me a flower to cheer me up. No bowing or distant reverence like the adults. I was taken by your looks and kindness 6 years ago and they have never let me go. Being around to experience your scent mature as you grew into a young man has only made my love for you stronger. Please allow me to spend the rest of my life in your presence and to marry you.” Shoto opened the box to show off his taste in jewelry. The ring was a slender, rose gold band with a sapphire offset like Katsuki’s.
Izuku tried to say yes, but all that came out was a squeak and some tears. He resorted to nodding and covering his mouth as his hand was taken for a second time. He jumped in to hug Shoto as soon as his hand was free, nuzzling into the warm, fireside scent of the alpha as he purred. Shoto held him tight, kissing him by the ear. A gentle whisper washed past Izuku's ear, sending shudders down his spine. "Thank you, Zu."
Shoto waved a jealous Katsuki over and kissed him as well. They both turned to Izuku, the omega that wanted and accepted them both, and kissed every inch of his face until he giggled. The high chime blessed their ears and made even the grumpy Katsuki smile softly.
Izuku finally took a moment to admire his new rings. They almost fit together perfectly except for a matching space in each stone. He had to admire them up close for the real effect. "They're so beautiful. I love them. Why is this space here?"
"That's where our mating band goes, dumb Deku." Katsuki ruffled Izuku's hair. "Fucking emerald that completes us. Shared but equal. But you ain't getting it until we're married, fucking needy omega." Katsuki kissed Izuku's ear as reality started to sink in for the smaller male.
"The Ceremony of Stars in September will see our mating officialized in the eyes of the gods and I'm sure that you will love it." Shoto added.
"I'm marrying two Lords. A small town apothecary's son is engaged to Lords of the realm…" His rambling was cut short when Shoto kissed his nose.
"Technically, I'm a prince."
Izuku was in shock.
