PROLOGUE
Cold. Dark. Damp. I can hear liquids slosh through creaking pipes. I’m still trapped in the red vines. I’m.. Who am I? How did I get here? Where am I even? I, whoever I may be, want to fight the fight. However, I can’t do this alone. I’ll need someone. I’ll need… I’ll need her. A pretty girl with a ginger ponytail. In my memory, she’s smiling back at me and playing music. Only she can’t do that anymore. That’s right. She was cursed. Eda was cursed, but she's still powerful in her own way. Eda the Owl Lady will be the one to save me.
I miss her.
~
I’ll admit I was surprised when I saw Raine again. I thought this was my chance to make up with them after how the curse affected the both of us… But I’m stronger now. Somehow thanks to Hooty, I’ve accepted the owl beast and now we can kick butt together as a harpy woman! Maybe with these new powers I can save Raine. And the BATTS, of course. How could I forget them? I think I’ve grown fond of them. Even Amber. But they’re just innocent kids and they’re all getting caught up in this fight that should never have started. It’s his fault. That tyrant is even getting his pawns to kidnap children now! I’m livid. So many kids are getting hurt. I’ll never forget when Luz got involved. She nearly died because she cared so much. I guess we really are family now. We’re the Bad Girl Coven! We’ve got new members too now. All of Luz’s friends. Oh and her girlfriend. Amity.
I didn’t really know the girl before now, just that she was some snobby prodigy. Luz made her so happy and now she makes Luz happy. It’s kind of adorable, actually. I guess that girl has come far, She’s still a bossy boots though. On our mission to Eclipse Lake, she was really helpful and so motivated. I’m not sure if it was just because she wanted to prove herself to Luz but it seems she’s taking issue with the Emperor’s Coven dorks now. You go, girl!
Chapter 1: Let The Plans Begin
Amity had come over to the Owl House because Eda said she had something important and urgent she wanted to discuss. Oh and she wanted to see Luz. That definitely wasn’t the main reason she was going. Nope, not at all.
After getting past that annoying owl demon, she saw Luz and immediately hugged her. She held her girlfriend in her embrace, smiling at each other.
After a few special moments Luz pulled away but swiftly held her soft hands around Amity’s. “Amity! I missed you sooo much! Not that Eda and King aren’t good company or anything.”
“I missed you too, Luz. And-”
Eda cut in, “If you two are done, doing whatever the wholesome heck you are doing, can we get to pressing matters now?”
Eda began to finally explain who Raine Whispers was and just what they meant to her. Luz and Amity ended up cuddling each other as they sobbed over Raine's fate. Somehow Luz was even more mad at Kikimora than she was before.
Eda began looking hopeful but then immediately became crestfallen.
"Hmmm. Wait… dang it!"
Luz chimed in, "Eda, what's going on?"
"It's just… I think I have a plan. Sort of."
"Anything is better than nothing. Spill the details!"
"Okay, okay Luz. To rescue Raine we'll need to get someone inside the castle so they can relay us information and possibly figure out where Raine is being kept. I even heard that the Emperor's Coven is looking to hire more scouts in preparation for the Day of Unity."
"That's a great plan, so why are you so worried about it, Eda?"
"Thanks kid, but the only people I know who are old enough to join certainly don't want to or can't because they're criminals. Guess that's the only connections you get when you worked in the scamming industry…"
"What exactly is the age range?" Amity piped up.
"Well Boots, anyone who's 16 or over can join. And you're too young!"
"Duh. I know that, Owl Lady. Actually, I might know just the right person for the job. Well, people actually."
