Chapter 1: Initial Analysis

Chapter Text

Throughout her entire life, she knew she never had time for love, after all, she was taught that love was and is for children. Besides, between babysitting a bunch of superheroes and saving the world, she just accepted the fact that she’s never going to find her soulmate. Even though there’s a mark on her hip that reminds her every day of the love she cannot ever experience.

Well, that was Natasha way before she met Wanda. And now they were both cuddling in Natasha’s room, a sitcom playing in the background as Wanda talked about everything and anything. Natasha had another nightmare and Wanda was there to ground her every single time she did. The witch yearned to use her powers to comfort her girlfriend, but Natasha always said no, she just wouldn’t want her to see the horrors of her childhood and Wanda understood, she always does. Natasha was now tracing the soulmate mark on her girlfriend’s wrist, conscious enough to move yet her head is still stuck in the past, now wondering if she’s enough for Wanda.

“Hey, hey. None of that. I can feel the insecurity pumping off you, Zolotse. You’ve said it before, the past does not define us in anyway whatsoever remember?” She kissed Natasha’s head, holding the former assassin closer as she whispered praises into her ear, before stopping when Natasha gently kissed her

“I love you” Nat mumbled into the kiss, making Wanda smile.

“Coffee?” Wanda asks, knowing that the time is well past 7 am

“Breakfast.” Natasha nodded following after her girlfriend to get ready for the day.

“Sorry ladies, you’ve got half an hour to eat and suit up. I’ll explain the details on the way.” Steve says sympathetically, making the couple groan

“You’ve got to be kidding me. It’s a Saturday!” Wanda mumbled under her breath, preparing her breakfast

“Well, bad guys don’t exactly care for weekends, Malyshka.” Natasha joked, already heading up to the compound’s armory

-

You didn’t expect that the Avengers would come so quickly, but it worked to your advantage really. Them serving as a distraction while you steal what was inside this gigantic HYDRA base, it was perfect.

“LILA? Status report?” You ask your AI, years of solitary and loneliness has led you to build everything that you can ever need. That includes an AI who’s a little too human.

“Path’s clear Y/N. Let’s move faster, The closest Avengers to you are Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. Proceed with caution.” Your AI answered, too human like to be manmade, her displaying their files in your face as you activated stealth mode

“Hot, Pretty, Gorgeous and Lethal. Just my type. And they’re soulmates with each other, you think I could get a three-way with them LILA?” You whispered to your AI, chuckling lightly

“I doubt it Y/N. You’re disgusting.” LILA replied in the most monotone voice ever

“Rude.” You scoffed, moving quickly so you could take this power core, go home and still have time for burger and fries

“You programmed me.” LILA bit back

“Touché.” You whispered, entering the room where the power core was at.

Compared to the other things SHIELD has recovered, this power core is pretty tame, but you needed it. The power core has a self-replenishing features, meaning every time that it gets used, it recharges rather quickly. It’s size could be compared to a volleyball but it’s heavy enough to put a dent on Earth’s strongest metal.

“Status?”

“Relatively safe. Y/N, you’re free to start stabilizing the core.” Once LILA confirmed that you’re safe, you shut down all the power causing the whole building to turn pitch black. Activating your night vison, you quickly removed the wires from the power core and slowly put it inside the rubber-like box that you made specifically for this.

“Finally. I can eat my dinner.” You sighed when the core was safe and snug in your suit.

“Mind if we barge in on that?” The voice behind you rasped out.

You barely had enough time to react when red wisps wrapped themselves around rendering you helpless, invisible force pressed you until you’re on your knees you tried to fight it, but Wanda is evidently much more powerful than your multiple layers of metal.

“Ouch.” You forced out, straining against the witch’s magic.

You did want to be on your knees in front of the deadly couple with the witch’s powers on you but on waaaay different circumstances.

“Who do you work for?” Natasha says, She noticed that you’re not wearing the HYDRA insignia so she’s worried SHIELD has another enemy other than HYDRA, pulling her knife out from her thigh holster and using it to tilt your chin up, the sharp edge lightly pressing onto your skin

“Absolutely no one. I’m a lone wolf, I don’t do well with other people. Trust issues and all you know?” You gulped, shrugging. Well, shrugging is a overstatement, since you could barely move.

“Well, You’re still coming with us.” Wanda stated, manipulating the wisps surrounding you to make you stand up

“I hate to cut this short, but I gotta go. Say, Ms. Romanoff, do you like spiders?” You say, wanting to get away from this awkward situation, raising a brow

“No? Then you’re not gonna like this.” Grinning, deploying a large swarm of robotic spiders from your palms.

Natasha stumbled back in surprise and pain when the little spiders went under her skin tight suit and began electrocuting her, not enough to paralyze or to be lethal but enough to leave a sting. Wanda on the other hand, is also swarmed by your spiders, getting the same treatment as Natasha and began smashing your baby spiders, swatting them away.

“Do you like it? I call it Widow Bites.” You chuckled, already levitating off the ground with your thrusters

“Also known as Baby Black Widows. Have fun kids!” You laughed, flying away, a heavy feeling in your heart, you don’t understand what you’re feeling so you just shook it off and went back to your underground base… you never had to see them anyways.

WRONG! You saw them again 3 months later. You heard that a HYDRA base was planning to revive Project Serpent. The same project that you were in, hundreds of years ago, way before the Super Soldier Serum was invented. Project Serpent involved the Serpent Serum, it sounds destructive, but it’s not, the danger lies in the user’s desires.

The Serpent Serum allows it’s receiver to have an almost immortal life, and it’s effects differ from test subject to test subject. You were one of the 8 who survived the project, and 7 of you worked together to demolish the project, and make sure it stays dead, while one fought and tried to revive it, you haven’t heard from him, until now. After all those shenanigans had quieted down, you went underground after bidding your gratitude and farewell.

“LILA! A little help here?” You grunted, ripping the head of a zombie like soldier.

You recognized these. These were the corpses of failed test subjects. You say corpses because the moment your body rejects the serum, you’d die. And with your brain dead, the serum takes it’s hold, like a virus, and it produces these mindless soldiers, always doing their master’s bidding.

“Contacting One-Eyed Nick.” LILA announced

“What?! NO! LILA!” You whined, you wanted to handle this alone.

“Based on my calculations, your power will not last without the help of the Avengers. Also, there are approximately 15,000 soldiers around this base. You won’t get there without their help.” LILA informed you

“Ah. Damn. They’re going to find me.” You grunted, sending a strong blast that ripped through the soldiers

“It’s a small price to pay. Would you rather have them experiment on you again?”

“Hell no.” You growled, sending punch after punch

“That’s what I thought.”

You spent what felt like hours trying not to get overpowered by these corpses, when you got distracted by a beam that wasn’t yours.

“Iron Man.” you sighed

“Hey Hey! Kid! What’s with that tone! I just saved your life!” He proudly says, then pouts when you ignored him

You hear Nick inhale deeply, trying to not laugh.

“I can hear you Nickolas Fury. Let it out before you fart it out.” You rolled your eyes, smirking when you see their surprised faces.

“Never mind that, please smash their heart. It’s the only way for them to stay dead.” You grunted, pushing your hand in this one corpse’s chest and pulled their still-beating-green-colored heart and smashed it to bits.

Fury expected you to frown and scowl whenever you needed to fight with another super powered individual, after all your title: “Agent Rouge” didn’t just pop out of nowhere. He was quite shocked when Natasha reported someone who seems similar to you. He thought you were dead, and yet here you are now, fighting alongside Wanda and Natasha like you’ve been in the team for so long, blasting soldiers that the couple missed.

He watched as you flung Cap’s shield and decapitated 3 soldiers before it ricocheted right into Steve’s hand. He watched as the thrusters on your feet levitated you as you helped Tony and Sam with the flying soldiers, He watched as you made a bow appear on your hands and fired arrows with Clint, He watched as you guarded Vision’s back. Why you didn’t accept his proposal of joining the Avengers is beyond him.

Smashing hearts as fast as you can, you saw an opening and immediately rushed through it, leaving the Avenger’s to fend for themselves.

“SAMUEL!” You screamed, clenching your fist, powering yourself up

“Y/N! Such pleasure! Did you like my gift? Did you?” He grinned, jumping excitedly.

“If your idea of gifts are mindless zombie soldiers, No I did not.” You growled

“My, My. You’ve always been the ungrateful bitch.” Samuel says, charging towards you, his hand clutching a sword that magically appeared. He is after all, part of the original 8

Your arm transformed into a much bigger sword than his and blocked his attack, noticing that he’s putting all his weight into his sword, you quickly pushed your sword upward causing his to also follow your sword and with your free hand, pushed his backwards. Huffing in annoyance, you charged at him, and spent what felt like hours trying to get the upper hand but Samuel is just as good as you when it comes to swords, besides, swords aren’t your best weapon.

Metals clashing, plasma blasts and magic spells erupt from the both of you, leaving the room to suffer your attacks. This was the scene that the Avengers stumbled into, and all they can see are two God-like creatures fighting. This wasn’t the same kid they saw earlier. They got ready to help you, but Natasha caught your eye and yours slightly widen. Parrying an attack from Samuel, you moved away and speeded to their side, just in time to see Samuel smirk and direct a spell towards all of them, a spell you’re familiar with. After all, you did teach it to him.

Quickly casting a protection spell, you absorbed Samuel’s spell long enough for you to be distracted. And that was your biggest mistake in a long while.

“You’ve gotten very rusty, Old Friend.” Samuel suddenly appears by your side and with a clean swoop, ripped your left arm off, making you scream in agony.

The Avengers widened their eyes in surprise, their eyes trailing on your kneeling figure, blood dripping from your left arm. Natasha and Wanda at most, their right hand flew to their left shoulder as if they felt the pain, which they did. They didn’t understand why they felt your pain, but it was the least of their worries. What astounds them the most, is the metal and wires that are under your skin.

Tony uses FRIDAY to zoom in on your bleeding arm, and found that under your very skin, was a skeleton made of metal. He had tried blasting the invisible barrier that enclosed them all, but to no avail.

“Years and years of hiding has weakened you, Rogue. This, This is what happens to traitors. After I finish you off, drag these puny heroes to my lab, I’ll go after the rest of the Serpent Council, and well… I’m sure you’ll watch from wherever your soul goes. Unless you join me, my love.” He says, gripping your hair, making you look at his greasy, smirking self. You frowned at spat at his face.

“Hmm. That’s a no huh? Any last words then? Your Highness?” He grins

“It seems that your memory has gotten rusty as well, Samuel.” You mumbled

“What?”

“I’m a technophile, you blithering idiot.” You hissed, just as giant wires moved like serpents, wrapping itself around Samuel, electricity flowing through the open end.

“Honestly, luring me into a base filled with technology is a lethal mistake.” You said, a frown on your face

You stared at him for a second, before the wires connected to his neck, electrocuting him to death. When he became limp, you waved your hand, the wires dropping limp as well. You waited for a while, and then a bone-chilling laugh rang all throughout the building.

“You didn’t think it’d be that easy now did you? Princess?”

“Cut the crap Samuel.” You growled, ripping the clone you were previously fighting into shreds

“You’ll have to find me first” He cooed and you knew he was no where near this base in the first place.

“I really can’t comprehend why you lot try to stop me. This. This is the dawn of a new era! The Forgotten’s Revenge! Why do you insist on saving the inferior beings my love?-”

Natasha and Wanda both felt intense amount of burning in their hearts, they don’t understand it, but they barely had time to comprehend what they were feeling when a series of images flashed through their eyes. Images of you with 7 more people, Samuel included, it looked peaceful. And then it flashed through a war like surroundings, they saw you with a blank look on your face as you took down what looked like combined military power, from different countries. What they saw was nothing like the you they saw, you were ruthless, killing humans left and right, carrying the HYDRA sigil on your uniform. And then it flashed to you decapitating what looked like a HYDRA general, then Samuel’s arm getting ripped off, him swearing revenge, before they got back to reality, lightheaded.

The couple looked at each other in confusion, which made the other Avengers look at them in concern, to which they just said that they’re fine.

“-I’m paving the way to greatness! We can make superior beings! Like us! We won’t have to hide anymore! Freedom… That’s what we’re fighting for right? AND THAT CANNOT BE ACHIVED WHEN HUMANS ARE STILL AROUND! So we start again! A clean slate!” He laughs

“But I guess I’ll just have to make you see. I’ll make you all see. AND THEN YOU’LL BE BEGGING FOR FORGIVENESS!” He laughs harder, his voice fading, letting you know he was never in the building in the first place. Him and his stupid magic tricks.

It’s like Ultron over again, except it’s actually much worst.

“Bastard knew how to make his debut after a couple hundred of years.” You grumbled, waving your hand, lifting the Avengers into the air as you levitated yourself

“…we can walk you know?” Wanda says

“I am aware of that, Mrs. Romanoff. But blood mixed with the Serpent serum is extremely corrosive. You don’t want to turn into one of them yes?” You explained calmly, smiling a bit when Wanda blushed as red as her powers

“Hmm. Where’s your quinjet? I assume Nickolas is in there.” You hummed, seemingly calm despite your missing arm

“My name is Nick. Nick Fury. Not Nickolas.” Fury says, in his usual flat face

“Loosen up Nick. You look like an emoji.” You huffed in laugher as you hauled the band of heroes in the quinjet

“LILA! Autopilot. Play nice with FRIDAY” You grunted, forgetting to clean your still bleeding shoulder.

“Sorry for all that mess.” You apologized to them, a gentle smile on your face

And just like that Natasha and Wanda experienced a sense of Deja vu, it was like Sokovia yet again, it was like they saw each other for the first time, but this time, they were looking at you. Someone who Fury seems to respect, Someone who looks no younger than 20, Someone…who’s a robot?

They watch as a drone like creature emerge from your torso, dropping to the ground as it cleans the quinjet floor of your blood and other substances. You pulled something from your leg, and pressed it into your shoulder, the metal melting and forming itself to stop the bleeding.

“Right. Now that’s done, did I miss anything Fury?” You say, sitting calmly

“None, Agent Rogue.” Fury says, silently mentioning to the base that’s slowly shrinking as you all fly away

“Oh that’s taken care of.” You say, chuckling when the building exploded

“uhm.” Wanda timidly interrupts.

“Are you some kind of robot? Or a cyborg maybe???” Tony inquired, poking you. He widened his eyes when he felt skin instead of what should be the rough feel of metal

“RIGHT! Pardon me, where are my manners. Y/N Y/LN, also known as Agent Rogue around SHIELD. Although, I think Ms. Romanoff know me more as The Red Serpent.” You rolled your eyes at the title, you thought it was cringey as fuck.

“Yada, Yada, Yada. Serpent this, Serpent that. What even is this Serpent Bullshit.” Tony yaps, his helmet now open to reveal his face.

“Ah. Project Serpent. I’m surprised you don’t know of it yet…” You stood up silently, looking out the giant window in front of you, taking note that you’re nearly there

“Project Serpent involves the Serpent Serum. The very first serum HYDRA has done, it’s considered the template for the super soldier serum. It’s effects vary based on how well your body responds to it. Those soldiers you see are the cause of an imperfect Serpent Serum, their chances are extremely low in the first place, but an imperfect serum worsens their chance. And before you ask, yes. Yes those heart you just pulled are genuine humans. Well, corpses as I call them, husks, bodies with no soul. Mindless. They follow their master’s words.” You grunted.

“I think it’s best if we continue this inside.” You mention to the window

“…and where exactly is inside?” Natasha rasps out, her hand finding Wanda’s

“You’ll see, little spider.” You grinned

And then they felt the quinjet stop in the middle of a desert, they looked towards Fury, but he seems indifferent, as always. They watched as a screen popped up right in front of them.

“Identification?” LILA says

“Agent Rogue. 1400-21-14-11-14-15-23-14” You spoke, pressing your hand to the screen

“Welcome Back Y/N.” The AI says

Suddenly, they feel the grumble of the earth, despite being suspended into the air, sand slowly trickles in as what looks like a passageway, the quinjet hovers down slowly, lights slowly illuminate the dark hallway leading towards a heavily reinforced door.

“Home Sweet Home.” You sighed, leading them as they silently follow after you

You lay your hand into a seemingly innocent piece of concrete, yet it lit up and the doors slowly open, block after block of metal open in different ways, some thick and tough, some sharp and jagged.

Finally after what looked like a mile of doors, the final door opened into what looks like a really expensive living room

“Make yourself at home.” You mumbled, waving your hand causing a hologram to appear, you maneuvered your hands throughout your program as you prepared your system, to tend to your needs.

“LILA, scan the Avengers for remnants of the serum.” you mumbled

Drones emerged from the floor as light shone on each Avenger, scanning them.

“They’re perfectly okay for now Y/N. I think it might be best if you put them in Med bay just incase.” A humanoid figure emerged from your set of Holograms

“Ugh. More work.” You groaned

“Don’t forget your meeting in an hour.” LILA says as she urges the Avengers into the med bay with you trailing behind them

“She’s like Vision” Tony whispers to Steve who still looked confused and in awe

“Alexandria ought to wait until I get my body reset.” You grumpily says

“Do you need my help?” LILA says, turning around, with Natasha and Wanda peeking behind her to look at you with concern

“…We’ll decontaminate them first.” You sighed, opening the door with your fingerprints

“…you’re okay with them watching your reset?” LILA asks as if you’ve grown a second head, again.

“What’s the harm?” You shrugged, and now LILA looks at you like you turned into a dog

“…did the serum corrode your system?” LILA now dotes on you like an annoying sister

“I’m fine! Geez!” You bat her away and proceeded to help the Avengers into the test tube like contraption.

“Like hell I’m getting in this thing! You’re kidding me right?” Tony retaliates

“Hmmhmmn.” You stroked your chin as if in a really deep thought.

“No I wasn’t kidding Mr. Stark. Get in. And yes, I’ll be needing that serum you collected. I’m surprised it didn’t melt through the glass yet.” You say, waving your hand as straps wrap around Tony and restrained him. Grabbing the serum from his suit and giving it to LILA for future observations

“…is that necessary?” Wanda asks

“No. Only for the stubborn ones, Love.” You winked at her, smirking when she looked away

“Right. LILA? Start the decontamination process, please.” You say, letting drones do their jobs.

The drones first scanned them, then sprayed them with an decontamination agent made from your own blood.

“Now that wasn’t so bad now, was it?” You say smugly, waving your hand again to release Tony from his restraints.

“I’ll let you wander around later, Dr. Banner. I can see you’re curious. And Tony? You’re a splitting image of your father when he was younger.” You smiled at him, then walked away, Tony and the Avengers following you while Tony pester you with questions while Steve looks at you curiously and wearily, were you older than him?

“Are you sure you want them to see you like this Y/N?” LILA asks again.

“Affirmative.” You say, ignoring the looks they give you.

Fury leans on the wall as he has this look on his face, he knows what’s going to happen. After all, this wasn’t the first time you lost a limb. He just hopes that The Avengers won’t react violently.

They all watch as you glided your hand down your body, your armor faded and went into your ring, leaving you in your sports bra and shorts.

Natasha and Wanda’s breath hitched, what they saw was enough to confirm their earlier suspicions. Right then and there, was the mark they both harbored. Right above your heart.

“It’s okay to look. I don’t bite much.” You grinned, ignoring the looks the couple was giving you, before stepping into the middle of the room. You hoped that this was enough to make them fear you

“LILA? Initiate Body Reset.”

“Body Reset starting.”

“This is gonna hurt like a bitch.”

“Affirmative.”

Wanda’s eyes widen with a newfound concern when machinery emerged from the ground, surrounding you with them, their arms reaching to you until they get to your arm. They see you breath in deep just when the machine rips the piece of metal you used to stop the bleeding, they see you grit your teeth in pain as the machine attaches a metal arm to your body. You let out a pained sigh, and then suddenly jolted in pain as skin starts to rip and mesh and move althroughout the arm. The skin you first had stretching painfully to cover the metal skeleton that was newly attached to your body.

It took everything in their body to not rip off the machinery from you.

“Amazing. Her body recognizes the metal as a part of her, therefore allowing her body to regenerate in such speed.” Bruce geeked out

“But that’s scientifically impossible!.” Tony argued

“We met a God who’s obsessed with Pop-Tarts and you think this is impossible?” Natasha snorted

“Arm repair complete. System check starting.”

They look back to see you slouching in your seat, in pain, as the drones did their job.

“System check complete. You’re good to go Y/N.” LILA says as she helps you up, Natasha wanted to help, but Wanda held her back, shaking her head softly

‘Not now.’ Wanda spoke in her mind

“…ouch.” you grunted

“Incoming call from Alexandrine Clemintine.” LILA spoke

“ugh, she’s always right on time.” You grunted, hitting accept

“You’re late.” A woman with blonde hair was plastered on the screen

“Well, I’m sorry I needed my arm repaired you bitch. Give me a second and I’ll head to the conference room at once.” You grunted, flicking your middle finger up at her

“Rude. Bring the Avengers with you.” Alex says before hanging up on you

“…eh?” You say confused

“Hmm. This must be about the Sokovian Accords, and what you all have just witnessed of course” You say, causing The Avengers and Fury to tense up

“Come. You’re about to have a meeting with Earth’s leaders.” You smirk, relishing in the looks they give you

“What? Did you think that the Battle of New York was the only time an alien spawn tried to invade Earth? Loki was only lucky that we were too busy with other pressing matters and he slipped through our fingers.” You teased them, leading them to a conference room you had.

Thor definitely would have a field day if he was here

“Try not to get too intimidated and speak only when spoken to.” You warned them, despite having a playful smirk, your eyes were serious

They all thought you were joking, especially since you were sporting a rather playful smirk on your face, but opening that door released the pressure from inside. They felt as if they were witnessing something they shouldn’t be, it felt as if their souls were getting crushed from the inside, They didn’t know whether they should feel relieved something like this was protecting earth, or threatened that something like this existed in the first place.

You glanced towards Natasha and Wanda. They looked fine, confused even. You could only guess that they didn’t understand why their team was this close to crying. You sighed, you need to revisit this issue later. You had your suspicions, this just confirms it.

Soulmates.

You shivered, fearing for the couple. You knew that them fully bonding with you would potentially cause their demise. You had way too many problems on your plate right now and you fear that it may involve them in the future. They’ve already been through so much, you don’t want to add to that.

You’ll need to do something to make them reject you.

“Good Evening. Avengers, Y/N. We’re glad you could join us.” Alexandria greeted

It was only then that the pressure decreased, enough to let them breathe comfortably. You guided them to the seats positioned around the table that’s in the middle of the room and right after that, taking a seat right across Alex.

You didn’t bother with introductions wanting this meeting to be over.

“Right. So-” You were cut off immediately

“Isolation made you lose your manners too?” Alex spoke

“No “Good evening, how are you?” or “I missed you?” How rude.” Daria teased you

“You didn’t even introduce us to your guests? That’s painful.” Lucielle clutched her heart in faux pain

“Enough. You’re all being dramatic.” You scoffed

“Well, this is the first time you’ve accepted our call in… 20 years?” Vik says, her ever heavy russian accent accompanying her words perfectly, leaning back and drinking her wine

“More like 20 decades.” Wynne scoffed

Knowing they were right, you sighed.

“For diplomatic reasons, I suppose.” You grunted

“I feels soooo bad for your incoming soulmate. They would have to deal with such a stiff partner.” Ilaria poked your cheek

Your gaze drifted to the couple for a second too long, allowing your council members to quickly realize something. Your eyes snapped back at them and the smirks that are placed on their faces.

“Can we just…” You motioned to the holographic image in front of you

“Right. Of course.” Alex sat up straight, and so did all of you

You waved your hand for a second, allowing your name, and the names of the women in front of you appear in front of them, for the hero’s advantage.

Alexandrine Clemintine.

Lucille Fortier

Daria Lance

Ilaria Baresi

Viktoriya Kovaleva

Wynne Santos

Y/N Y/LN

“Shall we begin from the start then? For them?” Daria motions to the Avengers

“Yes. And also for a little trip down memory lane. Wynne? If you will.” Alex says just before you zoned out, you were tired of the same recurring story of your past. At least the part of it that Alex wants the Heroes to know. She did the same with Captain Danvers after all. Concealing information was a crucial part of Alexandria’s manipulation. It always left a bitter aftertaste in your mouth.

Natasha stiffened up, as did Wanda. They were curious about your past, eager to understand you. Wanda’s eyes drifted to Ilaria as Natasha’s eyes caught Viktoriya’s, both were projecting an emotion that they cannot decipher… guilt maybe? Concern? Sadness?

The couple once again didn’t have time to process their feelings when they were thrown into the abyss.

“My apologies loves. I had to get you out of that boring meeting. You wouldn’t get the whole truth anyways.” You told them as they arrived to this place…wherever this is.

“Where are we?” Wanda asked, her powers absent in this darkness

“My mind.” You said simply, grimacing a bit

“I wanted to be the one to tell you my past. Not Alex and especially not Samuel. I…” You swallowed, not knowing how to approach the situation

Natasha understood exactly what you were feeling. She did it too, hesitate. She hesitated and considered breaking the bond she had with the young witch. Thankfully, Wanda didn’t allow her or else it would have been the greatest regret she ever had.

“I know that we’re soulmates.” You whispered, seemingly disappointed

“Why are you… disappointed?” Natasha questioned softly

You just tugged them to a door that appeared out of nowhere, inside they could hear multiple screams.

“…you’ll know why. Once you do, I want you to know that I know a very powerful witch, and she can sever my bond, strengthen the bond between the both of you, and delete the memories of us being soulmates.” You told them, sadness evident in your eyes

Wanda wanted to retaliate, say that there was no way they would reject you, but you cut her off by opening the door.

Inside was… you and a large test tube thing that you’re in, floating around in a green, gel like substance.

“…HYDRA was ruthless ever since the beginning of time.” You started, them noticing that they were out of time, the scientists wearing clothes that are far too old for them to recognize.

“I…I don’t know where I came from. And so do they.” You motioned to the seemingly never ending hallway of children like you, submerged in the liquid

“The Serum wiped us of our memories. Among other things.” You say, knocking on the glass and as if by cue, the scene changed

“The Serpent Serum allows it’s receiver to have… power reflected from within them.” You contemplated on your words

“What do you mean?” Wanda asks, her fingers grazing a table, it was cold to the touch.

“Well, I can’t really explain it. But I do know that they treated the serum as a Russian roulette of sorts.” You sighed

“The serum had different effects per person.” You concluded, pointing at a photograph on the table Wanda touched

“Alexandrine gained the ability to turn others into her puppets. If she wants to turn someone into a mindless puppet, she can. The mildest thing I saw her do was manipulate each and every president in the whole world to her liking. It’s why SHIELD was allowed to operate in the first place.” You explained, the picture of Alex morphing into her present self.

“Lucille gained the ability to warp reality. She needs only to envision what she wants to happen, and it will. Sometimes, she writes it out, and it’ll have a much stronger effect.” You take them down the hall, and they see younger versions of you training

“Daria has similar powers to you Wanda. Her wisps glow gold, as her eyes also glow gold.” They watched as Daria slammed a robot into the wall of the training room you’re in

“Hmm. I always preferred red anyways.” You scoffed, glancing at Wanda and winking before waving your hand, the scenery changing to that of a battlefield.

They see the 8 of you battling soldiers, 8 versus a thousand and counting seems like a very unfair fight.

“Ilaria gained the ability to shapeshift, into anything she likes, whether it’d be an inanimate object, an animal or a human, she could.” You motion to Ilaria shapeshifting into a giant wolf

“Wolves were always her comfort animal, and you would often catch her prancing around in that form.” You smile softly

“Viktoriya on the other hand, gained abilities that would be best described as “vampiric” fangs and all.” You pointed to Vik draining one of the soldiers

“In fact, a writer saw them arguing in London, Vik and Ila, Ila shifted into a wolf and Vik fought her barehanded and fangs out, and that’s where the mythology of Vampires and Werewolves began.” You chuckled, wincing when you remembered what this scene was, you wanted to close your eyes, you don’t want to relive this memory, but you have to, for their sake.

They watched as blood spilled every inch of the floor as you and your friends decapitate heads, friends who stood in your way, or enemies. They saw Samuel fighting back to back with you while you work your way through thousands of soldiers.

“Samuel was given the ability use 100% of his brain’s capability, allowing him to easily process information and come up with a strategy, pair that with the brute strength the serum gave him, he’s a deadly force.” You pointed to Samuel who wasn’t even using weapons and was crushing people with his bare hands

“Wyanne already had witch blood in her, so the serum enhanced that hundred fold.” You say, motioning to the young Wyanne who stood beside your commander, using her powers from a distance, sudden balls of fire shooting from her hands, the ground cracking open and swallowing those she deemed fit to die.

“What’s happening here?” Natasha asked, crouching down to touch the floor and was amazed when her hand really touched the soil.

“This is a compilation of all the battles we had. All the times we fought and killed for what we thought was a noble cause.” You clenched your fist.

“They brainwashed you.” Wanda realized, reaching out to hold your hand only for the scene to suddenly change again, It showed you smiling happily when the 8 of you were praised for your excellent work, no hint of regret or pity whatsoever

“That may be the case, but the fact that they didn’t force me to kill, or the fact that every time I did, I never felt a single ounce of emotion makes me feel sick.” You spat out, your fists clenching so hard blood started to drip from your palm, you were so consumed with your self-loathing that you lowered your guard down enough for the couple to embrace you, which snapped you out of your little moment.

“Uhm-” You stuttered out, your heart beating much faster than you ever could imagine.

“You also have to take into consideration that I did the same things you did.” Natasha mumbled into your back, pulling you closer.

You feel your body shake, ever since you met the couple that one time, you started keeping an eye on them while doing your duties as well, making sure they were safe. You watched them enough to know their relationship dynamic, and just how guarded Natasha is with other people. It also took her a while to warm up to Wanda despite being soulmates, what makes you different?

“It’s probably because we knew something was missing, and we thought that everything was falling apart, and yet you came into our lives and fixed it. We’d be a fool to let you go.” Wanda says, her eyes glowing red which took you by surprise, she shouldn’t be able to use her powers inside your head.

And suddenly you could feel the walls you made crumble down, allowing you to feel what your soulmates feel despite learning how to ignore it for years, you teared up, burying your face into Wanda’s shoulder.

“But- I’m a monster.” You sobbed, clutching onto Wanda as if your life depended on it, making Nat do the same to you.

“Then you must consider us monsters as well.” Natasha states, her words making you panic

“Not at all! I think you’re both amazing and humanly and, and just-” You rambled, moving away from them and flailing your arms around in an attempt to explain yourself.

“Then believe us when we say that we feel the same about you.” You stare at Wanda, unaware that the memories stopped, the three of you enveloped in darkness, you had your light right in front of you so you had nothing to worry about.

“Hey. Don’t look down, I know it’s hard to believe at first, but let us help you prove to yourself that you’re not the monster you tell yourself you are.” Natasha says, tilting your chin up

“Only if you let me do the same” You mumbled, sinking into Wanda’s embrace, unknowingly making Natasha pout, which made Wanda chuckle

“Come 'ere Nat.” She says as she opened her arms once again

“Did she pout?” You grinned

“I did no such thing!” Nat gasped playfully

“She did.” Wanda giggles

“Traitor” She whispers, pinching Wanda’s side, making her jump and yelp…

The sudden pinch in your side making you snap awake with a sharp gasp.

“Having fun with your soulmates?” Alex deadpanned

“I was, until Wynne pinched me.” You grumbled, sneaking a glance to a smirking Natasha, a blushing Wanda and confused Avengers.

“As much as we are happy for you to have found them, we still need to tackle the topic of Samuel.” Vik rasps out, sipping on her glass of blood… When did she even get those?

“What more is there to say? You’ve read my reports, he’s an asshole and we all know him, it shouldn’t be hard to find him.” You say, a dark look settles on your face.

“And is it hard to find him?” Ilaria asks

“…Painfully so. He has an entire coven of witches working for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he suddenly upsets the balance of the universe, if that happens again…” You all cringe at the thought of having Dr. Strange nag at all of you again.

“Well, you said that Samuel has seen the Avengers with you, correct?” Alex asks, her stare straight through you as her wife and soulmate, Lucille did the same

“Yes.”

“Then that means they need to be in protective custody until Samuel gets bored of hunting them.” Daria concluded leaning back on her chair.

“If I may…” Steve started, unsure of how to address them

“Sure, go on golden boy.” Vik chuckles, making him blush as red as Wanda’s powers.

…Are they-

Your eyes widened, looking at Natasha with a dumbfounded look, to which she just shrugged

“What about our duties as Avengers?”

“…That’s true.” You nodded, before coming up with an idea

“Well, we could make them clones.” You say, making them look at you

“And then we can connect your clones to your brain and it’ll be somewhat like a virtual reality, but it really is reality.” You say, hoping they’ll get you

“…” Silence told you everything you needed to know

“Ugh. What I mean is, we’ll build you clones, or essentially just another you, we can bind them to your souls so that everything they say, do, hear, smell, feel etc, you can as well. You can control them with your own brains. Of course, you would need training for that to be a subconscious thing, but I think you guys can do it. I mean, it’s either that or get captured by Sam, be experimented on, die and never do your duties ever again, so?” You offered with a sweet smile.

“What she means is, we’ll give you time to think about it. However, you all would need to be separated as soon as possible, having you all at the same location is much too risky, with your soul signatures and stuff like that.” Wyanne says

“That’s settled then, you guys will stay here with Y/N until your decision.” Alex says, confirming that the meeting is over as they all start disappearing.

“It’s nice seeing you again Y/N.” They all waved bye, before vanishing completely.

You turned to them, looking at Steve who looks like someone kicked his balls.

“Don’t worry, Vik will be back tomorrow, she just needs to settle some things. And besides, if you do agree to our offer, she’ll probably drag you to her mansion.” You offhandedly say, guiding them out.

“Dinner is served.” LILA says suddenly, making them jump.

“Let’s eat, and then you’ll all rest up. I imagine the information is too much to process right now.” You gently tell them, motioning for LILA to take them to the dining room, wanting to have a moment with Natasha and Wanda.

“I uh, I wanted to ask if you wanted to be in the same room as me?” You asked in one breath

“Breath Detka.” Natasha chuckles, making your heart beat faster

“We would love to.” Wanda gently says, holding your hand

“Great! Uhm. Yeah! Let’s get to the dining room.” You say, flustered and embarrassed

They both smile and lean in to peck your lips, making you feel giddy inside as you tugged on Wanda’s hand to lead them to the dining room, hoping that they can’t see your grinning face

The three of you knew that this relationship would not be easy in the slightest, but you all smiled and enjoyed each other’s presence nonetheless. You all finally felt complete, like a puzzle masterpiece finally complete.

You’ll be damned if Samuel rips something you hold dearly away from you again.
