A Kiss Not Expected

Summary:

Deciding to press a surprise kiss to the other’s cheek to show his love to him, Simon leaned forwards to do just that. Though, he hadn’t planned for Markus to notice him moving and turn to look at him. All too suddenly the blond realized that where his lips landed wasn’t Markus’s cheek.

Notes:

I'm already rushing to finish fics for each day of simarkus week next week, so why not jam a whole other prompt challenge in the mix?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It had been long established in their relationship that Simon wasn’t comfortable with kisses on the lips. It wasn’t that he had anything against them, he was just too nervous of messing it up to ever try. Though, Markus didn’t mind. They had plenty of other places to kiss and ways to show their love for one another.

Looking up from his current position cuddled to Markus’s side on the couch, Simon smiled at his lover. He knew he was hopelessly in love. No other reason could explain how, even after years of dating, he still got that warm fuzzy feeling in his chest from the other that started long before they were a couple.

A moment passed and another pair of lips experimentally moved against his as an arm wrapped around him. Markus’s hand found the other’s side and soothed reassurances through his sweater.

Simon hardly noticed the gentle touches, though, as his mind raced. The butterflies in his stomach moved to his chest and multiplied tenfold.

They were kissing.

On the lips.

He didn’t know what to do - had never kissed someone like this before. It felt…so different from all the other kisses he’d shared in the past, so much… more

Not wanting to stay frozen like a deer in the headlights any longer, he made a soft, helpless sound and tried moving his lips along with Markus’s own. It was uncoordinated and off time and he soon pulled away, cheeks bright red with embarrassment.

A rush of something great ran through him and he almost felt lightheaded at the sensation. His heart pounded in his chest and his mind went fuzzy, making it hard to think. It felt like he was floating and was easily one of the best feelings he’d ever felt in his life.

Reality creeping back, his eyes darted anywhere but towards Markus, unable to face him after the incident.

“I-I didn’t mean to…” Simon couldn’t even finish the sentence, words no longer coming to him and too flustered to say more regardless. It seemed so unreal. He’d gone so long without kissing the other on the lips, actually doing it seemed… Well, it felt insanely surreal.

A hand cupped his jaw and gently urged him to look at his lover. He reluctantly did so and met a caring mismatched gaze. “Are you okay?”

Markus’s tone was full of gentle concern and Simon felt his heart soar. He knew his love had been wanting a proper kiss for so long and had the patience of a saint to deal with his silly fear of messing it up. All that and yet his first thought after their first kiss was to check on him. The blond would have fallen in love with him even more, if it were possible.

Mind still fuzzy from the kiss, Simon couldn’t think well enough to conjure up a response. Instead, when a moment passed with his mind still blank, he reached up and pressed their lips together again.

It was still uncoordinated and messy, Simon having no idea what he was doing, but it was still great. He felt the rush run though him again, coursing through his veins. It felt electric, like opening his eyes for the first time. It was amazing and he only wanted more of the feeling.

He could very suddenly see how addicting kisses could be and wanted nothing but more, more, more. Lucky for him, he had a very willing partner and plenty of time to practice. So he did just that.

Bringing his arms up, he draped them around Markus’s neck and pressed himself impossibly closer. It had been foolish of him to let such a silly fear keep him from this bliss for so long.

Desperate to keep it going, Simon only parted briefly for a breath before sealing the gap between them again. With any luck, by time he caught up on his kisses, they’d go from sloppy first tries to masterful examples of art, moving in perfect unison and melding together like they were meant for each other.

Simon sure wasn’t wasting any time getting there. He was more than eager to catch up on all the kisses that they’d missed throughout their relationship up to now. So, he set a mental counter to three and smiled as he got busy with catching up with the hundreds, if not thousands, of kisses they’d missed over the years.
