Chapter Text
"I object!"
There's the silence. Have weddings always been this quiet? Why can Katsuki suddenly hear the beating of his heart? He looks at the couple in front of the altar. Some asshole he met a few years back holding the hands of the green-eyed man Katsuki's in love with.
"Bakugo?"
There's my last chance. Katsuki thought to himself. He stands up with shaky hands and feels all the eyes on him as he walks out of his seat and into the aisle. There's no turning back from here on out. He locks his gaze onto Izuku's eyes.
It's so beautiful. He's so beautiful. From those dumb freckles to his green hair. The scars on his arms that are proof of all the shit they've conquered. Together. From the lifetime they've been sharing together.
"Kacchan? What are you doing?"
Katsuki can feel the horrified looks from everyone in the room. The years of being a pro imprinted on his instinct. But this wasn't from a building about to break or a villain about to harm a civilian, no, this was Katsuki's whole world about to shatter. And he couldn't just sit still and watch.
"I'm only looking at you." he said out loud. Has Izuku's eyes always been that green? He couldn't look away as he felt those eyes he longed to stare right back at him.
"I... I'm not the kind of guy who should be rudely barging in on a white-veil occasion." Katsuki looks at Izuku's groom. "And I'm sorry." he takes a deep breath and looks at Izuku again, tears already streaming down his freckled face.
"K-kacchan..."
"But you are not the kind of guy who should be marrying the wrong person. Izuku, don't say yes. Please." his voice cracked. "I love you."
Silence. Again. He could still feel the beating of his heart ramming against his chest. His palms were sweating so much more as it shook. But not once did he stop looking at Izuku as he stood his ground.
Katsuki started to lose hope as the silence went on. Time passed by too slowly, he wasn't going to gain anything from ruining something. He just ruined something for Izuku. Again. "I-i'm sorry." he apologized looking down at the red carpet. He raised his head again and looked around, seeing his mom sitting next to Inko.
"I'm so sorry--"
"Kacchan!" Suddenly, he feels steps vibrate through the carpeted floor as a body crashes against his strong arms wrapping around him. "Please stop apologizing."
"What-- I literally ruined your wedding I should be fucking kneeling on the ground--"
“Kacchan– I–” he glances up to see Izuku looking towards his groom, Shindo. That fucker .
And suddenly, the guilt kicked in even more. He was already ruining Deku's reputation, and he's about to ruin Shindo's as well. Fuck, what do I do? I can't do this to them, I can't-
"I love you too!" Katsuki's eyes widened at that. What did he just say?
"What?! Izuku?!" Katsuki could feel Izuku freeze as he hears his supposed-to-be husband's voice. The green-haired man looks at Katsuki.
"Kacchan, hold on to me."
"What?"
"Bakugo!" they hear Shindo yell out once again. The two grabbed onto each other's hands as they ran out of the venue. Izuku wraps an arm around Katsuki's waist and activating float as he jumps away. Unfamiliar with the area, they land on a rooftop that’s a reasonable length away from the venue to not be seen. Katsuki can see the mess even from far away. Regret ate at his conscience even more. What the fuck did he just do?
“Deku! What the fuck are you doing?! You’re about to get fucking married!” the blonde screams, shoving Izuku away from him. The other hero gawks at him.
“I- Kacchan, I don’t understand I thought-”
“I wasn’t thinking right. You shouldn’t have–” Katsuki lets out an exhale, thinking about what he’s about to say. He can’t afford to mess things up even more. “It’s not right for me to blame you. This wasn’t your fault, I shouldn’t have shown up like Shindo said.”
Izuku grabs his hand, looking at it instead of Katsuki’s eyes, “Everything felt wrong.”
“What-”
“ I kept telling myself that this was what I wanted. To finally settle down, I thought that this would ease my worries and the whole pre-wedding mess was the only reason I felt so on edge.”
Finally, he looked up at Katsuki, “I just realized that it felt wrong because it wasn't with you.” The blonde notices Izuku teary-eyed and immediately wipes it off while he lets the other let out his worries. The whole time he was avoiding the other, it hurt too much to see the love of his life talk about finally getting married. He wasn’t going to be there as they got prepared. The only reason he was even there was because his parents were invited. I should thank the hag
