"Shinra! Shinra! Wake up!"
Arthur shouted. He climbs up to the upper bunk bed and shakes his roommate's shoulder, hard enough to wake him up.
Usually Shinra is the one to get up first then he will get dressed and wake the other boy up.
But today is different and that guy is still in his pajamas, did something happen?
The brunette sitting up on his bed, his eyes still half-lidded. Not fully awake, he says while slowly removing the other's hand from his shoulder.
"What-"
"It's snowing outside!"
Not even waiting for him to finish his sentence the blond shouted again. His sky blue eyes widen and his face beams with excitement. Both of his hand grip the rail tightly.
Shinra still can't process anything, but after thinking for about 2 seconds his facial expression turns into the same as the person beside him.
"Snow?.. It's snowing?!"
Not wasting anymore time he pushes Arthur down from the stairs and quickly climbs down. Luckily the blond lands on the floor beautifully because of his reflex. Shinra rushed to the only big window in their room just to see many white flexes falling down from the sky.
It's still a bit dark outside but the moon and street lamps help him see better. The yellow light gives such a nice atmosphere, relaxing just by looking.
Snow is very rare and that's the reason why he's so excited. Everyday it's always sunny. They have only seen snow once or twice in their entire life.
The floor, roof, everywhere has become white because of the fluffy snow.
Shinra is really enjoying his view. He doesn’t even mind that Arthur is beside him, who is also enjoying what he sees. But suddenly the brunette realizes something.
"Wait, what time is it?"
He asked and turned his head to look at Arthur who was facing the window. The sun hasn't risen yet so he doesn’t know if it’s night time or just very early in the morning.
The blond’s face immediately goes blank after hearing that question. Like there is nothing in his head.
But he does know how to tell time, right?
"It's 4 in the morning. I guess."
Took him long enough, around 5 minutes before he finally answered. He looks at Shinra and notices that the brunette was staring at him this whole time.
"4 a.m? Why are you up so early?"
Those red eyes widen in confusion and surprise. He doesn't seem to know that he was staring.
Arthur is a heavy sleeper. Shinra has been with him long enough to notice that. It's hard to wake him up in the morning, no matter what happens he won't wake up.
Well.. Not until he heard the word 'Lieutenant Hinawa'.
"I don't know either."
"Huh?"
The blue-eyed boy turned his head to the window.
"I woke up without a reason and felt colder than usual. At first I thought you forgot to close the window but no. It's cold because it's snowing."
Arthur placed his rough right hand on the cold glass of the window. Shinra just stands there not removing his eyes from a figure beside him.
"I didn't mean to wake you up. I think I'm just too excited. Are you sleepy? Do you wanna go to bed?"
The blond asked. Those bright blue irises met with fire red again. A smile appeared on his face. Not a smile that always pissed his roommate off, but a rare genuine smile.
Just now the brunette felt his heart skip a beat. His mouth curved up a little because of the nervousness.
Is it because it's still too early in the morning or this calming atmosphere that makes both of them acting kinda weird.
"What's wrong, devil? Your face is a bit red. Feeling too cold?"
Maybe his reaction was too oblivious that the knight king noticed. That smile has now disappeared, replaced with the same poker face.
He removed his hand from the transparent glass to point at the other's face.
Even though they said they hate each other. But Shinra knows that Arthur cares for him quite a bit. So he tries his best to calm down and doesn't make him worried.
"Ah..no nothing. I'm just kinda glad that you woke me up to see something so beautiful."
He knows when he said that he was referring to the snow and the nice atmosphere.
But when he thinks back about those times, Shinra realizes that he was staring at Arthur almost all the time.
His signature nervous smile widened uncontrollably and his face flushed a darker shade of red. The devil averted his eye.
Luckily the stupid knight doesn't seem to notice why he is acting like this. Judging from how he smiles so proudly.
"I know right? And if we have free time I want to build a snow castle!"
Arthur said loudly but not loud enough to wake anyone up. He kind of looks like a kid who's going to get a new toy soon.
And Shinra can't help but laugh.
"You think Captain Obi or Lieutenant Hinawa will let you?"
"Who knows? Maybe they will! Snow is very rare. Aren't you curious what snow tastes like?"
"No don't eat it. It's dirty."
They talk for about an hour or so before the knight king starts to feel drowsy. And both of them agree to go to sleep.
When they wake up they will ask Captain Obi if they can have a short break and go out to play.
Come to think of it, this is probably the first snow Shinra and Arthur got to see together.
And in the end the two boys couldn't sleep. Because they were planning about what to do with snow all night.
