Chapter Text
“Oh, girls, I just had the most wonderful time!” Blanche gushed as she floated into the kitchen where two of her roommates were seated at the kitchen table. She was cloaked in a blush-tinted chiffon evening gown with gold chains dangling around her neck and large golden hoops adorning her ears.
“Well, clearly not good enough if you’re home before midnight on a Saturday!” Dorothy quipped. “Would Chuck Davis not put out?”
“Oh, Dorothy,” Blanche chuckled. “I don’t need to be satisfied to have a satisfactory date if you know what I mean!”
“Blanche, Elmo from Sesame Street would know what you mean! Now, tell us the truth, what are you doing back so early?”
Blanche pulled a pitcher of lemonade out of the fridge and poured herself a glass before joining her friends at the table.
“I’ll tell you what happened on my date after you tell me why you’re eating cheesecake without me!” She bargained.
“Stan called today,” Rose explained on Dorothy’s behalf.
Blanche grimaced. “What did he want this time?” She inquired as she cut herself a slice of cheesecake.
Dorothy sighed. “Oh, something about needing to pay off a loan to some shady guys he met in Mexico.”
“Did I just hear Shady Pines?” Sophia asked warily as she entered from the hallway.
“No, Ma, we were talking about Stan’s shady business deal.”
“Oh, good. Hey, you’re home early!” Sophia noticed. “Was your date another dud?”
Blanche scoffed. “Sophia, I am perfectly capable of enjoying a man’s company for the evening without ending up under the sheets!”
“You did it in the car, didn’t you?” Dorothy accused.
Blanche nodded and grinned boastfully. “Bumped my head on the dashboard!"
