The soft winter sun bathed the room in warmth that morning. Its rays shone over the two figures lying on the bed, belonging to two young figure skaters who had their Winter Olympics final the night before. BaekHyun had placed third on the podium representing South Korea and SeHun second representing Canada. None had taken the gold for which they had competed during the previous days of training, and they had even had small discussions in the corners without eyes or cameras of the establishment. However, their rivalry had not led them to win gold, and both had ended up sharing the podium by just a few points.
That same night, all the skaters had come out to celebrate. After all, they weren't just competitors, but people, and they all shared things beyond the desire to win. They shared the same passion: their love for ice. And then, many more things, particular to each one. It was the first time SeHun went to dinner after a competition, after all it was his first Olympic Games. He was very excited until he ended up sitting next to BaekHyun.
First he hated it. He then ended up conversing with him more than anyone else, putting the stupid arguments they'd had behind them. Maybe it was the alcohol, but BaekHyun was very nice, even if he insisted that SeHun talk to him more formally because he was a minor. SeHun had ended up smitten by the man, but now that he was awake, he found that he didn't remember what happened after his fifth drink. And for some reason they ended up sleeping together, even though he could tell that they were both dressed in their clothes from the night before.
Well, it's not like it bothered him if they did anything. Despite their competitive moments, he had always found Baekhyun very attractive - and he was also easy to tease, meaning he got flustered and mad over almost nothing, which was adorable. And at that time, Baekhyun looked very cute, sound asleep with half of his face propped up on the pillow. His breathing was sweet, calm, and sometimes he let out sighs through his parted lips. It was a very ethereal image, which he thought would remain etched in his mind even if a thousand years passed.
Without thinking, SeHun reached out and gently caressed his cheek. The man's skin was soft under his touch, delicate in contrast to SeHun's harder hands. His cheeks were tinted a soft shade of pink, which was adorable, and his lips looked way too kissable.
He remembered at that moment how overwhelmed he had felt the day they both entered the official track to warm up before presenting their short programs, they had played in the same group and SeHun had entered the track first. From the side he had seen BaekHyun enter as well, and at that moment he had really forgotten about the silly arguments or the little rivalry between them, because BaekHyun looked like a blue diamond… He got breathless because of his beauty and grace with which he skated during his short routine, the sweetness of his landings after jumps and spins, the grace with which he moved his limbs.
"Didn't they teach you that if someone is sleeping, you should let them rest?" Baekhyun's voice made Sehun immediately brush his hand away, nervous at being found out. "I didn't say you can't touch me."
“I'm sorry,” he apologized nervously, shifting on the spot when he met Baekhyun's gaze. "I didn't mean to invade you."
"And who said you did?" Baekhyun giggled and then started stretching his limbs between long yawns. SeHun looked at him, he looked like a cat that just woke up from his nap. "Well, what's your opinion?"
"About what?"
“The games, duh. Yesterday when we were drinking you told me that when the day was over you would tell me what you thought about the games. Remember?" His English accent was so cute, but SeHun wanted to hear him speak Korean. Still, he didn't say anything, just shook his head. “It was an evaluation of your entire first Olympic experience.”
SeHun nodded, understanding where BaekHyun was going, though he didn't remember what they had talked about. “If I give you my evaluation, will you give me yours too?”
"Sure." Baek Hyun smiled. "Come on, rookie, start."
SeHun sighed, trying to place the words correctly in his head. "The pressure is terrible, but I like it." BaekHyun let out a melodic laugh, but let him continue. “I still like it. I enjoy the pressure. I like knowing that my whole country supports me. And I also like to compete with people who are at my level. It is gratifying, I feel that I am getting better and better because of the effort I make to keep up with everyone.”
“You did well,” BaekHyun agreed. “You did more than well. Better than everyone. You outdid yourself and broke your own record. I think it's wonderful.”
With a proud smile, SeHun nodded. "And you? What do you think about the games? This is your second time attending…”
“Well, you know. I would like to win gold sometime. But excellent skaters always come. Some new ones that surprise the world, and even surprise me.” He stared at him, with more intensity than SeHun could have expected. “Still, even if I didn't get gold, I'm with the best skaters. Surrounded by so much talent that it overflows to heaven, and people who have warm and wonderful hearts, who share the same passion as me. People who love the ice as much as I do. That is what I like the most. And knowing that my entire country supports me in what I love... well, there are no words to describe it.”
“How was the first time?” SeHun asked, smiling, curious, wanting to know even more about BaekHyun. "Did you feel that way too?"
"How?"
“Well… I got so nervous when I stepped on the ice for the first time… but even when I fell once during the short program, I felt like it didn't matter, that nothing really mattered that day. It was just me and everyone who had skated on the rink. Just us, not the cameras, the judges, not the public…”
“Yeah.” BaekHyun nodded, bathed in sunshine, and leaned down to caress his cheek just like SeHun did with him. “But I promise you that next time you will also feel the same. It is a feeling that you will be able to experience again, I promise you.”
Heat rose to his cheeks, and he couldn't help but lay a hand on top of BaekHyun's, to pull him closer. It was lukewarm. Sweet, like a sunrise. SeHun thought that that feeling he experienced when stepping on the ice and feeling that no one else mattered but him and the rest of the skaters, was comparable to what he felt at that moment. Because there, in that bed, only he and BaekHyun mattered. Their hearts were dancing together on an ice rink.
"And what about this?" he asked, his fingers gripping Baekhyun's tightly. "Will I be able to experience it again too?"
BaekHyun looked at him through his brown lashes and leaned in until their faces were only inches apart. “Only if you answer me one thing.”
"Which one?" His lips were now a few millimeters apart. SeHun wanted to kiss him so badly.
“Will I see you at the next competition on the podium?”
With a grin from ear to ear, SeHun nodded. "Don't even doubt that."
Satisfied with his answer, Baekhyun leaned in to close the distance between their mouths. It was cold, it was hot, it was sweet, like kissing the sun.
SeHun thought he could get addicted to that feeling, as much as he was to ice skating.
