Work Text:
You’re so cruel, Tsukishima thinks.
Y/N is walking in front of him with a bright smile on his face. He looks so happy, like nothing can stop his happiness. He looks so excited as his big eyes look at every ride. Then he looks at Yamaguchi with the fondest eyes Tsukishima has ever seen. Y/N is cruel.
He isn’t, not really. It’s not his fault Tsukishima pines silently. It’s not his fault that Tsukishima doesn’t know how to communicate while Yamaguchi does. It’s not his fault that Tsukishima is scared. It’s not Y/N’s fault and Tsukishima needs to remember that. He needs to stop putting blame where blame shouldn’t be.
“Kei,” Y/N says as he turns to face Tsukishima, and he points over his shoulder at a rollercoaster. Tsukishima thinks about how cruel Y/N is to say his given name. “Tadashi and I want to go ride that roller coaster. You in?”
“I tried to tell him you hate roller coasters, but he doesn’t believe me,” Yamaguchi says as if he’s trying to avoid being blamed.
“He’s never said anything about it to me before,” Y/N says as he looks over at Yamaguchi. There’s fake anger in his eyes, or maybe it’s teasing. Tsukishima can’t tell.
“You’ve never been to an amusement park with him before,” Yamaguchi says, and he lets out an exasperated sigh. “He’s no fun.”
“I’m right here,” Tsukishima says, and they look at him.
“We know,” Y/N says without a trace of guilt in his voice. “Do you want to ride the rollercoaster with us or not?”
“I’ll pass,” Tsukishima says, and Y/N nods. He looks like he wants to fight, and Tsukishima wants him to. He wants Y/N to reach out for him just like Tsukishima wants to reach out for Y/N.
“Suit yourself.” Y/N looks back at Yamaguchi. “Let’s go wait in line.”
They walk off and Tsukishima finds a bench nearby. He can still see Y/N and Yamaguchi from a distance. Y/N is smiling and talking animatedly. Tsukishima wishes Y/N would talk like that with him. He’d listen, even if it seemed like he was uninterested. He’d remember every word.
Y/N leans into Yamaguchi and puts his chin on Yamaguchi’s shoulder. Yamaguchi wraps an arm around Y/N’s waist as if it’s instinct. Tsukishima knows they want to be more affectionate with each other, but it’s too dangerous. Someone could attack them, but Y/N still leans into him. He still lets Yamaguchi know he wants him.
You’re so cruel, Tsukishima thinks. You’re so, so cruel.
