Cale took a side step to his right, just in time when a droplet of water fell and hit the spot he used to stand on. His simple action to avoid getting wet, met another demise when one sunlight hit his copper colored eyes, making him use his pale hand to hide his eyes and move closer under the large tree. Cale sighed that the remaining raindrops that the tree gathered continued to fall down, the one thing he tries to avoid now hitting the top of his head and shoulder like there's no tomorrow, but decided to ignore it. He had no choice anyway, it's either dealing with that or the sun that is now peeking in the horizon as if the rain didn't let out its rage from the world not too long ago.
Cale is itching to go home. A change of comfortable clothes and a soft comfy bed is waiting for him, but he remembered that he promised Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo they'll go home together today. So here he is, outside of school grounds, waiting for the two to finish their kendo club in the school gate so they could go home.
Cale hopes that the peaceful scenery he's with stays that way and nothing eventful will cross his way.
"Friend!"
He spoke too soon.
Cale sighed and turned to face the familiar voice. He watched Toonka run his way with a big toothy smile and a wave of his large dark brown scarred hand with a stoic expression. Cale may look nonchalant outside, but his mind is already on a jumbled and crying mess on why the heck Toonka is still doing here when Toonka is always one of the first people who'll leave the school as soon as the last bell rings.
"My friend, you're still here! Great timing!" Toonka continued as soon as he reached Cale, his large frame shadowing Cale from the sunlight peeking at the tree.
"Harol taught me a great game and told me to try it out with you!"
Cale clicks his tongue under his breath. Of course the treasurer of the student council will throw Toonka in his way so he can finish his duty. Ever since Harol found out Cale (unfortunately) likes Toonka, he immediately shoved Toonka's adoption papers in his hands and left him with a salute in his way.
Now Cale understand Harol's pain in dealing an idiot like Toonka.
Toonka dug his hand from his school bag to pull out a small pocky box.
Cale watched Toonka's large scarred hand carefully open the pocky box.
"I'll take one side while you take the other and eat the biscuit like that. Whoever will be the last to hold onto the biscuit, wins!"
Toonka pulls out a pocky stick and points it in Cale's way.
"Isn't this game exciting? Let's try it!"
"But its not even pocky day yet-" Cale didn't get to finish his sentence when Toonka shoved a chocolate flavored pocky stick to his mouth and took the other side.
Cale didn't even have the chance to tell Toonka to stop when Toonka started eating the other side slowly.
Crunch… Crunch...
Cale did not move an inch.
Crunch… Crunch…
Toonka starts to get closer.
Crunch… Crunch…
Cale can feel Toonka's breath in his.
Crunch… Crunch…
Their distance is getting shorter.
Crunch… Crunch…
Toonka's nose is close enough to caress his.
Crunch… Crunch…
Their lips are one centimeter apart.
Crunch… Crunch…
….
A loud snap broke Cale in a daze.
Cale slowly opened his eyes (since when did he close it?) and blinked in a daze as he watched Toonka run his tongue from his lips, trying to collect the crumbs from his chapped lips.
"My friend! You didn't even move! Let's try again!" Toonka said and was supposed to shove his large hand back at the box when he noticed something based on his usual vicious (yet oddly adorable) expression morphing into confusion.
"What the? It's empty already?!" Toonka said as he moved the box closer to his face and took a peek inside with one eye.
Cale felt something roll from his feet, making him look down.
There below them are the pocky sticks. Scattered with some torn to pieces, all that was supposed to be on the box from Toonka's hand. Apparently Toonka's hold to the box is so strong that it squashed, some being mercilessly choked to death while others escaped the cruel killing blow by letting itself fall and crush to the wet concrete floor beneath them.
Cale heard Toonka awkwardly let out a laugh in front of him.
"Maybe it's still edible!" Toonka said, now also looking down. Toonka slowly reached one that was still intact next to his shoes.
Cale immediately slapped Toonka's hand that was reaching at the snack.
Cale won't try the game again if the snack had a fun time rolling around the wet, dirty floor.
Toonka doesn't even look offended nor hurt from Cale's action as he lets out a hum, "Oh well, let's try this again tomorrow instead!"
"Do you even know what this game is for?"
Toonka tilts his head to the side. Cale can see the glaring question mark sign floating above his head.
Cale sighs. "It's a game mostly done with your crush."
'And it is mostly used as a way to confess to them.' Cale wanted to add but decided against it, because he did not want to point this out to Toonka and get a rejection in the process.
A loud gasp broke his thoughts.
"You play this for the people you want to crush?!"
Cale raised an eyebrow. "What the f-"
"So it's a tactic game used to lure their enemies and crush them once they're engrossed in the game?!" Toonka said while he hit his closed fist to his other palm.
"Hahaha! Such cheap tactics won't work on me!"
Cale, who hates pain the most, facepalmed, hard.
Toonka immediately faced Cale and slapped his back. The impact was so sudden (but shockingly not hard that it can make you feel pain) that it made him stumble on his feet and land himself from Toonka's chest.
"Don't worry friend! I'll protect you from those bastards!" He continues and pat his back once again, being mindful of the level of strength he used just from a pat of his back.
"God you're so stupid." Cale said while pinching the bridge of his nose.
Cale looks back at Toonka, only to regret it late on when he saw Toonka's bright, idiotic smile still didn't falter. Cale swears Toonka's smile seems to look more bright and pure with the help of the sunlight that's hitting Toonka's brown hair and face. He slowly buries his face to Toonka's chest to hide the rising blush colouring his face (and definitely not because to feel his soft looking pecs) and lets out a frustrating groan.
"And I can't believe I like that in a man."
