Work Text:

The wind blows through the trees and grass gently, the greenery swaying back and forth ever so delicately. The empty, lush fields with snow peak mountains in the far distance made for an incandescent scene for a very particular couple.

Butters and Kenny McCormick, happily married for many years, relaxed upon a plush picnic blanket while cloud gazing and enjoying the fresh air, indulging in nature’s virtues.

Aged, scarred fingers gently caressed over the delicate cheek of Butters McCormick, thumbs rubbing the soft skin, eyes gazing into each other with pure, unconditional love.

“Hun..” Butters began in a soft tone.

“Mmn?” Kenny hummed.

“Ya’ look so.. distraught… what’s troublin’ ya’?” Butters asked, his thick southern accent like the bliss of milk and honey to Kenny’s ears. Kenny smiled, the soft wrinkles upon his features gently contorting to accommodate the curve of his smile.

“Nothing, Buttercup, just spacing out.” Kenny mused. Butters exhaled, cupping Kenny’s cheek, his delicate fingers gently brushing over the thick beard Kenny bore, gently caressing his calloused skin.

“Thinkin’ about the kids again, hun?” Butters assumed, a soft chuckle escaping his soft lips. Kenny couldn’t help but nod.

A father’s worries for his youngins never dissipate.

“They’ll be jus’ fine, hun.. Ya’ know how they enjoy playin’ with Stan an’ Kyle’s kids.” Butters mused, his arms snaking around his husband, entangling his thin fingers into Kenny’s rough blond hair.

“That’s not what I’m truly worried about..” Kenny admitted with a soft sigh, his gaze softening. “Then what is it, Ken?” Butters pressed.

“I worry for when they get much older, and leave the nest. They’re teenagers.. I only wish I could care for them much longer.” Kenny said.

“Oh, honey..” Butters began, “They will always be our little ducklings, I promise ya’ everythin’ will be jus’ fine..” he cooed softly, leaning forward to kiss Kenny’s nose.

Kenny couldn’t help but smile at Butters’ optimism. Always the prevailing ray of light during Kenny’s darkest times.

“You’re right, dear.. You always pull me back into the light.” Kenny graced.

Butters giggled, nuzzling his husband as the wind grazed through their hair. Kenny’s strong arm snaked around Butters’ waist, holding the blond up as he hovered over his smaller husband. Kenny began to kiss all over Butters’ face, jawline, and neck, making Butters giggle softly, the heat rushing to his pale cheeks.

“Ken, gosh, that tickles!” Butters exclaimed, laughing harder. Kenny paused, a smirk upon his lips, giving Butters that look. Butters noticed, recognizing that look all too well.

“How about baby #3?” Kenny mused, making Butters blush heavily.

That concluded Butters’ assumption.

“Ken.. We’re pushin’ our fourties.. isn’t that a bit old? Besides, we’re in public, what if somebody sees us?” Butters whispered, his face bright red with blush.

“Nobody will see us. We have only the birds and the bees to concern ourselves with. And besides, we’re still young to chase little feet around the house.” Kenny purred, kissing Butters’ cheek. Butters gulped, glancing down towards the soft pooch of his post-baby belly.

Well, Butters wasn’t against the idea.

A smile crept onto Butters’ lips. “Alright, but you get the first round of diaper duty.” Butters teased.

“Deal.” Kenny mused, and brought his husband into a deep, passionate kiss.

All was well with the McCormicks, but they still had the obstacle of telling their other children about the incoming new member of the household.
